Pure speculation, but I'm pretty sure Pippa Middleton could easily afford a truckload of Hèrmes bags as a present for her mother

In fact, I'd say she has acess to more (readily available) cash than her sister.

You can also pick up authenticated and professionally reconditioned Hermes Birkins on eBay. Still not any normal person's idea of cheap, but nothing like the cost of a new one, and no waiting lists or having to buy other merch.

Thank you for the heads up. That cut right to the chase, didn't it. Providing a link that hopefully works.

Whilst I disagree they are the most calamitous royal couple (surely that is Andrew and Fergie) this bit was particularly telling, contrasting the Sussexes and the Edinburghs

, Sophie and Edward dutifully trudge around doing their royal business. This recently included visiting a Rotherham training centre, meeting GB Elite athletes, campaigning for Race Against Dementia and attending a Creative Youth dinner in Surbiton.

It’s not glamorous, its not cocktails at Jeff Bezos’s with the Kardashians, it is the boring bread and butter of royal life, all the dull stuff that Harry and Meghan didn’t want to do."

I think what Harry never grasped is that being a working royal is a tricky balance. The public accept the tiaras because the wearers spend most of their time in far less glamorous work. Harry wanted the status without the downside.

Queen Mary once said, "you are a member of the British royal family. We are never tired and we all love hospitals." Harry doesn't grasp that the public life and acclaim he thinks he deserves is found in hospital visits, not speeches and award ceremonies.

And because Harry didn't understand public duty how in earth was Meghan supposed to?

Thedom · 20/03/2026 09:10

That Jan Moir article 😂😂😂😂 She is witty

“the antics of Montecito’s very own Mickey and Minnie Mouse, aka the most calamitous couple to ever caper into the royal circus?

they are so grimly fascinating; as highly strung as racehorses, for ever storming around complaining about slights real or imagined, always newsworthy, and shiny and whiny as they provide a timely masterclass in exactly what can go wrong when entitlement, hubris and delusion clash head on with a lack of discernible talent and authenticity

the Sussexes deliver headlines like a postman delivers the mail – they are on your doormat and in your face, almost on a daily basis.”

JSMill · 20/03/2026 09:29

The Jan Moir article is brilliant! I particularly liked the line about ‘imaginary friends’!

Justdancevance · 20/03/2026 09:32

And relocating back to the U.K. with 10 million jars of jam 🤣

jeffgoldblum · 20/03/2026 09:53

It really was a corker of an article!
I particularly liked “ a throbbing, twin peaked boil on the arse of the monarchy “ 🤣

bluegreygreen · 20/03/2026 09:58

Thanks @Mylovelygreendress and @Indianrollerbird - that is great

Archive link https://archive.is/a3cVs

If the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were thrashing around the world flogging £30 jars of marmalade to gullible housewives, complaining about being pushed onto a dog bowl or making ladybird-shaped sandwiches for imaginary friends, we’d all be writing about them instead.

Further down the same page, Princess Anne wears the same coat for the state banquet as she wore in 1969.

ShamedBySiri · 20/03/2026 10:13

The rest of her page is good too - I like this bit about Dua Lipa teeming up with Nespresso:

"The campaign will apparently introduce ‘an elevated experience’ that is ‘a modern expression of a commitment to exploration’, whatever the hell that means.
It’s just a cup of coffee, darlings. And not a very good one at that.
Still, the best we can all hope for every morning is that our coffee kicks in before reality does."

A piece of advertising word salad worthy of the calamitous two. These advertising/pr people are their worst enemies, what a pile of wankery they spew.
They fail to notice that USA and everyone else is sick of it hence the success of straight forward campaigns like Sydney Sweeney's jeans campaign for American Eagle.

Ok , the hand positioning looked a bit odd to me and I wondered if there had been some < gasp> photoshopping??

I think pretty much all of Meghan's IG images are photoshopped to some extent. The hand positioning on that image is a bit odd (Meghan's hand placed too high to easily hold and pour and Lili's hand correctly placed but that jug's too big for a 4yo to lift), but it maybe the handle on that jug is just an odd shape? Photoshopping controversies only seem to flow one way it appears.

As for the poo balls - they're that shape I imagine from rolling down the pipes for a few weeks before hitting land. The whole weekend has a whiff of Fyre Festival I have to say.

This is an interesting article especially all of the ‘unfollowing ‘ of MM and as ever by key players in Hollywood. She is becoming persona non grata there.

It is funny that whilst Netflix spews conciliatory waffle, the true sign of the finality of the split is that the whole crew has unfollowed her on Instagram! 😂

"Indeed, Meghan and As ever seem to have been expunged with Stalinist thoroughness by the top brass, which casts doubt on the feasibility of all their media ambitions going forward, and seems to indicate a proper behind-the-scenes falling out.
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos has unfollowed both Meghan and As ever on Instagram. So has his creative chief Bela Bajaria. Both have been extremely positive about Meghan previously, with Sarandos calling her ‘the rock star’ as recently as last spring....Meghan was close to Sarandos’ wife, Nicole Avant, a powerhouse who was the US ambassador to the Bahamas and whose father was the chairman of Motown Records. But Avant has also unfollowed Meghan and As ever on Instagram, too.
The same is true for the coterie of Netflix executives who used to work with Meghan and the brand.
Meghan has effectively been purged."

Meghan and Harry have finally been sussed.

Guest385 · 20/03/2026 10:55

Netfix really are distancing themselves, looks like they are also not too bothered about keeping the door ajar for them either. Wonder how much Netflix have lost on the deal?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/03/2026 11:08

"they provide a timely masterclass in exactly what can go wrong when entitlement, hubris and delusion clash head on with a lack of discernible talent and authenticity"

No more than the simple truth from Jan Moir

So now there's no longer any doubt that the opportunities are over, I wonder what comes next?
Without even the ability to source a decent photographer for Meghan's tat they really do appear to be circling the drain, and even if Harry's invested his inheritances that'll only provide so much ... a fortune to the rest of us no doubt, but probably not enough to prop up their lifetsyle if the freebies have dried up

Indianrollerbird · 20/03/2026 11:41

Their best bet is a reality TV show like the Kardashians. That friendship with Kris Jenner could come in handy right about now. Fergie could be their special guest star. They could sit around and moan about all the injustices meted upon them by the RF, British press and their ex friends.

bluegreygreen · 20/03/2026 11:49

So now there's no longer any doubt that the opportunities are over, I wonder what comes next?

My prediction: Harry comes back to the UK, with or without Meghan and has a base here.

Indianrollerbird · 20/03/2026 11:50

BTW, has there been some sort of mass reporting going on on this thread? It's suddenly full of deletions. I don't remember anything being said against guidelines.

The thing I’m most worried about is the more desperate they become the more destructive they will be !
Harry is capable of causing a huge diplomatic crisis and hasn’t the wit to stop himself.

I worry you could be right, bluegreygreen, and it wouldn't be for the first time

Even worse, some are fickle enough to turn on a dime and insist how misunderstood he was all along - probably with a hefty dose of "MH issues" and blaming Meghan for everything

Not sure about the viability of a Kardashian-style reality show though, @Indianrollerbird. For a start it would need producers, etc, and the days of people being willing to work with them seem to be gone, and that's before you get to who'd watch yet another whine-fest

It's another fair point, jeff, but is he really capable of causing a diplomatic crisis?

It seems to me - as in their faux "royal visits" - that anyone with real influence is very sensibly giving them a wide berth, and while he continues to spout endless idiocies is there anyone left who'd regard his yammerings as anything other than exactly that?
