This is the third thread discussing the case Prince Harry (and 6 others) are bringing against the Daily Mail (Associated Newspapers) for alleged unlawful information gathering (UIG).

Thread 1

Thread 2

Since the celebrities have given evidence, there has been limited direct reporting from court; what there is has mostly been on this link

I’m listening to Betrayal on audiobook. If it hasn’t been mentioned Harry became involved in the legal proceedings after Elton John invited him and Meghan to his villa in France ( after they declined to go to Balmoral as Archie was too young to fly, although was old enough to fly to France.) The other guest at Elton’s villa was David Sherborne and the rest they say is history..

Harry and Doreen Lawrence were clearly part of Hacked Off/Sherborne's longstanding plan to recruit "national treasures" as claimants.

Regarding the Charlotte Griffith emails, I assume these are just a sample for illustration? Presumably there are more we are not being treated to? In the final one dated Jan 22 H says “he plans on getting back in the mix in Feb”.
We need to hear about February!!!

I think that the messages are interesting because Harry chose to lie about them to suit his own narrative that neither he or his friends would ever speak to journalists.

But they also give insight into who Harry is as a person behind the careful image that the Palace curated for him. He truly seems to be the archetype 😂 "Hooray Henry" as a boorish, upper class toff who drank and partied his way through life. He's even boasting here about racing his friends home and somehow finding himself eating pizza after a night of partying probably over the drink/drug limit.

However - the press has always kept to the narrative (even the tabloids) that Harry really cared about the army and his African charities. But now we see his private thoughts where he moans to Griffiths that his army placement in Cornwall interfered with partying. Then he whines to her about having to talk to donors at the Sentebale fundraiser! It gives a much clearer insight into the entitled, professional "victim" he became.

Imagine calling a woman ‘sugar’ who you barely know?? Yuk.

bluegreygreen · 01/04/2026 23:02

I'm assuming there are more messages but these are just a sample.

We already know that Charlotte Griffiths was able to distinguish between her role as a personal friend and as a journalist - she didn't break the story of Catherine's pregnancy early when in the same weekend house party as William.

In this case she has been accused of lying in court by Harry: he said he did not associate with her, only met her once at a friend's party, didn't know she was a journalist and told his friend off when he found out.

The release of these messages is enough to show that she has been telling the truth all along: very friendly interactions on a few different occasions.

Spoil sports - just a little amuse bouche then.

Yes, it certainly is a window into his heart @Lunde

Ballah · 01/04/2026 23:31

I wonder what the ‘movie snuggles’ involved …. sounds a bit porno / kinky - what’s with the dominating off the black run?

Mylovelygreendress · 02/04/2026 07:52

More and more we see how the Men in Grey suits did a brilliant job presenting Harry as a jolly , caring , hardworking guy when the opposite seems to be true .

Sorry if I missed this - but was it confirmed ‘Facebook user’ was Prince Harry?

Why did he not have a made up name?

I didn’t realise how badly he lied! Of course, he will get away with it.
I remember reading an article about H when he was still single. His friends were starting to settle down and he was often finding himself at a loose end. He would text various girls in his circle, looking for a casual hook up, starting with ‘Hey girl…..’. The article was sympathetic to H but I found it very creepy.

I think the men in grey suits are doing a brilliant job in presenting all members of the RF. The public persona versus the private persona. How do we know which is the real them? We don’t they only show what they want the public to see.

Carla786 · 02/04/2026 08:16

My question is why he got so friendly with her given how suspicious of journalists he was. Was she a mental exception or something? Odd.

And if the relationship was sexual, he probably was cheating on someone...I think he was dating Florence Brudenell in 2011?

stayathomegardener · 02/04/2026 08:31

I suspect Charlotte has a life changing story for sale post trial and many more text will emerge, she’s clearly saved them.

Why shouldn’t they though? The whole modern ‘bring your whole self to work’ is ridiculous nonsense - no one wants to see someone’s whole self, we want their professional self at work. Same with the RF. Being a member of the RF is to perform, like actors on a stage. More than that, KC at least is not allowed to publically express his opinion on anything political - of course he still has such opinions.

Harry’s mistake is thinking people liked Colin Firth when they actually liked Darcy.

Because he is a bit thick ? Pretty sure the office of D and D would have clapped back had it been nonsense !

I assumed he did, hence why the first post in the released thread is him confirming who it is.

The court (and reporters) will have presumably used 'Facebook user' in order not to release that name.

This should undermine PH credibility as a witness for the small group of people who think he’s an honest character

NewAgeNewMe · 02/04/2026 10:48

I doubt it. People believe what they want to believe. Meghan has proven to not be credible, (to be polite), but the fans, although less of them, still support her and them 🤷🏻‍♀️

It certainly shows the RF's tendency to avoid litigation and clap-back is the right one; the more you engage in arguing, the more comes out about the real you.

I doubt that this journalist would have revealed her private messages with H (and, in so doing, demonstrated, through his own words, his appalling mind-set as regards the concept of "service") if he hadn't dragged her to court.

Yes quite. He ought to be mortified by these messages, not just because they prove he lied about being friends with a journalist, but also because they reveal such awful things about his character.

The drunk/drug driving is a particular low, but the whinging about his army and charity responsibilities also just shows he’s a total waster.

Poppiesmocking · 02/04/2026 11:13

I wonder how much he is actually engaging with the court case though. It may be he feels he has delegated it to his lawyer (who will put his own spin on it) so barely be aware of the emails or the implications of what they mean for his evidence or character. Past behaviour suggests it is hard for honest voices to break through to him.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/04/2026 11:38

Well yes, @bluegreygreen, and I don't imaagine it'll help his credibility with the judge, but it's surely pretty obvious by now that he'll spout whatever comes into his head to get him out of whatever hole he's created for himself

He reminds me of a kid who'll swear they didn't eat the chocolate while it's running down their chin ... maybe a not dissimilar mental age too?

A very timely YouTube from Jacob Rees Mogg (don't shoot the messenger) about this case, and about how essential it is to have freedom of the press.

It's 9 minutes long.

Sorry I just can’t - but if anyone wanted to transcribe his key message I would read.
