Could this be a way of being able to get into his residences, seizing his electronics, and then looking for more evidence concerning him to Epstein and the trafficking?

So they want to convict him for the trade envoy stuff but the end goal is the grim Epstein crimes?

52andblue · 19/02/2026 12:14

KCIII didn't 'distance himself' from AMW other revolting / criminal behaviour when he loaned AMW £4M of the £12M paid to Virginia Guiffre though, did he?

TheKittenswithMittens · 19/02/2026 12:15

90 years on, another abdication?

I bet buggerall happens.
The king is hardly going to stand by after years of collusion with AMW’s activities and let him be prosecuted, is he?
There must be implications for other members of the royal family who knew exactly what was going on.

I think they'd have been aware it was going to happen too.

After reading 'Entitled', he should be arrested on multiple charges.

I'd like to know what duty and service to you all looks like.

Potentially.

crasenda · 19/02/2026 12:20

I wonder will the RF "reputation" be in shreds after this. Or will it be spun (they're good at that), that they are all squeaky clean apart from AMW. I mean look how we co-operated with his arrest blah blah blah.

Even the most ardent Royalist must feel a bit of cynicism about them all at this stage.

Open the files, pay your CGT and Inheritance tax, let's see your wills, account for our money given to you, and everything else you can think of that's hidden from us, come on.... then I'll have respect - I think!

It's interesting and it feels a bit like Al Capone going down for tax evasion in some ways.

He still died in jail, so the outcome was the same.

They are in Royal Lodge and the new residence so it’s definitely given them access.

the fact they are searching Royal Lodge suggests to me that although he moved to the new place RL hasn’t been emptied.

How long do you think it will take for the Michael Sheen reenactment?

I think it would take a lot for an abdication.

Partly because he’ll want to shield William and the grandkids from as much of the fallout as possible.

However, DH’s Granny (who is 103 and very much a royalist) literally just said “if they start reminding people that Fergie wasn’t invited to William’s wedding, and mentioning how furious William was to be landed with Andrew at various points, suggesting that for years William has been pushing for more serious consequences for Andrew then they’re building for an abdication”. She spotted the build up to the title removal so if she’s right this time she’ll be very smug 😂

This with bells on. Why is it only the Brits who are being charged? Where are the Americans in all of this?

Exactly. Convenient whipping boy & scapegoat for the ones avoiding the bullet it strikes me.

That Surrey Police is investigating does not mean that much, they're pretty corrupt, like just about every police force. They have a tendency to 'investigate' and you sit back and relax, thinking, okay, they're on it. Time passes and nothing comes of it, 'not enough evidence to proceed' but the story has died down by then, that's the idea.

They do this with allegations against care homes for the elderly. I took a story about Firtree House Nursing Home in Banstead to the press, the police said they were 'investigating' but they never phoned me!

Years ago there was a story about historical sexual abuse in a Banstead care home in Firtree Road (I happened upon it while Googling my own story at a different care home in that road), you can find it on the net still probably. Victims were encouraged to contact a legal firm with allegations. This and some of Savile's goings-on in a Nork young people's home were also a thing, but nothing has come of it and one suspects people were encouraged to come forward so they could keep tabs on the story and delete any relevant files, to contain it.

Lord Mountbatten was accused of sexually abusing kids in a Northern Ireland care home, it is documented in Andrew Lownie's biography some years ago, 20 pages is devoted to it. Lownie did the recent bombshell account of the Duke and Duchess. The press has largely ignored the stuff on Mountbatten and there's been no investigation - admittedly this took place over half a century ago.

(I wrongly posted this earlier on another Andrew thread, sorry for the duplication, I can't delete the other one.)

Re Mountbatten: recently finished Kincora by Chris Moore. Very grim but essential reading on what was alleged and cover-up. Highly recommend.

@Darklane
MN posters who live in America have said that the US media is full on coverage of Epstein and those who are complicit in his crimes. The British media are naturally covering AMW and Mandelson. The Norwegians are going full throttle after their own RF.

Charles could step down on health grounds and retire to the Royal Lodge. William could then pop in from time to time.

JustAnotherWhinger · 19/02/2026 12:29

Interesting - the BBC have just said that Buckingham palace and the King were not told in advance of Andrew’s arrest

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/02/2026 12:31

Frenchfrychic · 19/02/2026 12:10

Yes I don’t think he can say more, he can only give support and effectively distance himself.

With his known record of meddling in his own interests I'd question the "support", Frenchfrychic, but agree Charles will try to avoid saying any more publicly - and how convenient to now have the excuse of not prejudicing any trial

Like so many others I personally believe this to be window dressing and that nothing judicial will happen to Andrew, but it's another case where I'd be delighted to be wrong

SadTimesInFife · 19/02/2026 12:31

Wouldn't that be normal procedure? They won't normally tell someone's brother when they about to arrest that someone. They must have spoken to the PM first, though.

Roadtripwithpretzels · 19/02/2026 12:35

I’ve just watched Alastair Bruce of Crionaich, Companion of the Order of Bath, great grandson of the 8th Earl of Elgin, Sky News royal correspondent, say that all of the royal family will be as shocked as you or I about these allegations?

Really Alastair?

To be fair, he did say something about the public expecting high standards of behaviour for those with privilege!

But Sky News can you not find anyone a little more objective to report on this?

Whatever the King's underlying motivations for that - one can only hope they were honourable - it can be presented as him wanting to ensure the victim was recompensed, rather than bailing AMW out.

They actually said they "understand" that Charles wasn't told, which isn't the same as stating it as a fact, but never mind ... someone might believe it Hmm

Depends what you mean by "sad".

If that nasty piece of shite gets a long prison sentence, I'd be very happy.
If he gets away with his various alleged offences, I'd be sad.

That's not what they were suggesting.

Roadtripwithpretzels · 19/02/2026 12:39

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/02/2026 10:14

I don't believe he'll be "trialled" at all - if it comes to it I'm convinced they'll claim he's "too mentally fragile" - and AFAIK he's not been charged with anything yet, but otherwise I agree with your post

The whole thing really is becoming beyondd belief

I agree with this! I would be very upset if this was the outcome but I anticipate a fudge!

First, the RF are well known for internal investigations that go nowhere.

Second, the Met are well known for investigations involving the RF that go nowhere.

It would be normal procedure, but normally their brother isn’t the King and most people would assume they don’t follow normal procedure in these cases.

It’s good if they are doing things as they normally would if he was just Andrew from Newcastle, but it would be surprising.
