Optics Check: Waleses public support for Andrew: William and Catherine’s driving and embracing Andrew is a massive error?

Are the Waleses and the Andrew Unity Drive A bridge too far? Seriously, why were William and Catherine protecting Andrew?

I’ve always been a supporter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, but I am finding it harder and harder to defend their recent excuses and petty behavior regarding 'family unity'.

Specifically, I’m looking at the optics of William personally driving Prince Andrew to church at Balmora Daily Mail report here

This wasn't just a family carpool; it was a deliberate, televised statement of support. William was in the driver's seat, Andrew in the passenger seat, and Catherine in the back.

At the same time, we have royal commentators like Jennie Bond stating that William and Catherine would 'rather have Andrew as a neighbour than Meghan and Harry. Independent article here

I understand that family dynamics are complicated and that they feel betrayed by the Sussexes' interviews. However:

1. Harry and Meghan are a family feud involving books and Netflix deals, though they couldnt protect Meghan against racism, not even make an statement
2. Prince Andrew is a man associated with Jeffrey Epstein, impliyed in e-mails to ne object in the death of a girl, hes a well known liar and with multi-million dollar settlement alongside much other bizarre stuff.

How can William and Catherine justify being part of the face of Andrew’s rehabilitation even after he was impliyed while being so publicly cold toward William’s own brother? Does anyone else feel like their moral compass is slightly off here? Surely a sister-in-law isn't worse than the Andrew crimes? Why he royal family and media even tried to protect him and only acted this year?

No one is saying they are saintly, but trying to attach two brief public encounters with Andrew in an attempt to taint them with the accusations against Andrew is a stretch.

As others have said, if that is how it goes then why not ask why Harry, when he was spilling the beans on his family, studiously ignored the biggest scandal of recent times involving his uncle? What about the company Harry and Meghan keep, and accept handouts from, Tyler Perry, Oprah et al?

William and Catherine don’t have anything like that hanging over them.

Surprising that Harry hasn't commented on it and shared the A secrets. Unless he's afraid that if he did he'd have something thrown back at him with proof, of course.

Only by seeing Andrew with Epstein and Ghislaine pictures in the Royal residences, i would avoid being in the same cars, in the same pictures as him, even prior the release of the files.

And I dunno, theres a difference between basic politeness behind closed doors and appearing publicly, driving each other and trying to rehabilitate someone accused of crimes including pedophilia. Plus, the media backing that Catherine Middleton and Prince william would rather be Andrew neighbours. There’s something really wrong there

However most revealing of all was the manner in which Andrew and William chatted at the funeral. This was a matter of weeks ago . William is socially awkward but he is at ease with uncle Andy .

Andrew was laughing and William laughed briefly too ( how disrespectful - it was a funeral) William covered his mouth by pretending to rub his nose so he could speak to Andrew.

The Windsors all knew about Epstein and Andrew . They have done next to nothing and what little they did was forced out of them.

Noone knew how bad it was with Andrew until it was revealed. Not even you knew. It was all hidden away. They have the power they can hide alot from the public. NDAs, deals with the media etc.

Oh and when it first came out, they woukd of known in advance it was. What with their power and connections there is no way that was a surprise to them, they figured it would just be brushed under and the public would ignore it hence the support for him within the family. William certainly didn’t look comfortable at the funeral in the video I saw . W and C were standing next to KC ( as protocol dictates) then A and S muscled in .

It doesnt matter though the institution and the people in it have been exposed showing us how far they go to hide awful acts. This isnt isolated to just one person it will be for every single one of them. And the only way its found out if it comes from somewhere external like Epstein.

As they are a Christian family, I can't see anything wrong with driving a "disgraced" family member to church. There is a place for compassion and forgiveness, whatever someone has done.
But it was quite a few years ago, anyway, so if the Waleses are worried about their PR, I don't think we'll see it again. This angle is now a non- story.
