Will Andrew move to Abu Dhabi?

Although he is due to be rehoused on the Sandringham estate in the coming months, experts believe he may instead take up a previous offer from the billionaire ruler, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for him to live in one of his plush residences for free.

Royal expert Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, said at the weekend that the set-up would be "perfect" for Andrew. He told the Mail on Sunday: "He would be happy living somewhere where the media is muzzled, where he will still be treated as a senior royal and where he can easily live under the radar."

Part of me thinks good riddance and they’re welcome to him, but the thought of him being offered this luxury lifestyle and still being treated like a senior royal is sickening.

Andrew could vanish in move to palace abroad with 'Fort Knox-like security’

Andrew could be set to leave the UK in favour of a luxury £10million Abu Dhabi villa that boasts six bedrooms, a home cinema, indoor plunge pool and a gym - as well as tight security

He'd probably quite like being treated as royalty, plus he could really do whatever he liked with no recourse.

But on the other hand, it's a long way from home, and I think he's quite connected to his ancestral roots.

Depending on what he got up to, what friendships he had and so on, he might be risking permanent exile and I don't think he'd want that.

So I'm on the fence!

Triflingjelly · 02/01/2026 12:17

Hope so. As far away as possible.

APatternGrammar · 02/01/2026 12:29

Probably it would fit his idea of human rights and particularly women's rights better, but it won't lead to people forgetting what he's done if that's what he's hoping for.

What is in it for his host? When I say "host" I also mean that Andrew is a parasite.

LittleBearPad · 02/01/2026 12:48

The sensible thing for him to do would be to retire into obscurity on the Sandingham estate. He will therefore be on the first plane to the Middle East.

roasttattie · 02/01/2026 13:07

He should crawl under a stone. But he feels entitled to a lavish lifestyle and adulation from young women so not much to hang around here for really is there? Will Sarah be invited? Probably not but who knows 🤔

Well, his host is well used to clearing up little family messes.

His half-brother Sheikh Issa was videoed in 2004 torturing an Afghan business associate he said he cheated him, including beating him with planks, raping him with an electric cattle prod, running him over with an SUV etc, in front of several uniformed UAE policemen — the video was smuggled out by two US-based former business partners of Issa after they fell out, one saying he’d been arrested and forced to film the torture sessions. The Abu Dhabi authorities some time later agreed to investigate, a brief trial was held in 2009, and not only was Issa was found not guilty (apparently he was the victim of a conspiracy), the Lebanese-American brothers who recorded and escaped with the tape were found guilty of blackmail and conspiracy in absentia.

The AD or UAE authorities have never addressed police involvement, or the fact that other parts of the tape apparently involved the torture of Sudanese immigrants.

So Andrew will be in good company.

That is horrific. Just when you think you've heard it all.

Andrew will be in good company.

I’ve seen it suggested that Sarah will end up in the Middle East so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Very good question and not one that many people seem to be asking!

Imho this is why there should be a thorough public enquiry and investigation in to the information being held back on the trade envoy papers.

We should know:

-exactly which nefarious corrupt people Andrew was associating with?
-what monies and favours exchanged hands?
-and how did these people benefit? What was in it for them?

And the same process in reverse for the Chinese spy! We know how the Chinese spy could potentially benefit from being friends with Andrew, but what did Andrew get out of it?

surreygirly · 02/01/2026 15:24

Who cares

simpsonthecat · 02/01/2026 15:25

I do.

And so should you. These are people we are supposed to be looking up to.

BeardedBarley · 02/01/2026 15:26

I think it would be a good move. I think he’s still viewed as a VIP in the Middle East and his grifter daughters are often there.

binkie163 · 02/01/2026 16:03

I wonder what they get in return? Obviously so wealthy they can afford to keep him in splendor but my experience of the Uber rich is they don't do freebies, there will be something. Maybe like the outrageously liberal planning permission extended to them in Ascot and sunningdale on various properties. Non dom rules/taxes relaxed. Free access to royal properties during ascot week and Wimbledon, those are the only weeks my ME customers reside in UK.
AMW will have free and unfettered access to women, servants to insult no questions asked and that offends me. Talk about rewarding appalling behaviour.

CathyorClaire · 02/01/2026 20:07

the thought of him being offered this luxury lifestyle and still being treated like a senior royal is sickening.

Wherever he ends up he's getting a luxury lifestyle at someone else's expense.

If he stays here he gets a newly renovated property most of us wouldn't sneeze at even if we had to do it up over time. He's reportedly holding out for various lackeys and will no doubt get them. The current ones still have to call him 'sir'. He'll continue to have access to top notch horses and acres to ride them in. He's been seen driving an early December registered top of the range Land Rover and so the list goes on.

That said I hope that if he opts for the Middle East his lack of ability to sweat means that he lives in the utmost daily discomfort.

roasttattie · 02/01/2026 20:11

If he goes to the ME he will have unlimited access to young vulnerable women and zero accountability.
He needs to stay here.

That was my first thought. Unfortunately I think we need to keep him. 😔

Edited

I agree, but it won’t happen.

feellikeanalien · 02/01/2026 21:26

I suppose the only plus side to him going to the ME, apart from us not having to see him in the UK, would be that if he does piss someone off out there then they will probably be less "scrupulous" in any action they take against him.

I would feel very insecure living in the ME in his position but that probably doesn't even cross his mind as all he will be thinking about will be his luxury accommodation and women on tap.

roasttattie · 02/01/2026 22:42

He could get beheaded! 🍿

NoRoomOnThisBroom · 03/01/2026 03:08

Interesting discussion, thanks

Zonder · 03/01/2026 03:14

I am not really a royal follower but I wouldn't be surprised if he popped off to the ME. I also wouldn't be surprised if Sarah F went too.

I don't really understand the relationship between them. Why does she still hang around him after divorcing him and knowing about what an absolute arse he is?

Perhaps I am naive, but does he still have any power to offer anything?

Genuine question.

Because she is no different to him. Just as bad if not worse. And people like that stick together and don't they?
