He’s doing well obviously, treatments will be reduced. He’s not cured. But it’s sounding like it’s being managed well.

It’s amazing the advancements made in the treatment of cancer over the past decade. From personal experience, I think immunotherapy has made a huge difference.

This is the first thread I’ve ever started, and it seems like a good non controversial topic.

Re not getting tested - in our area, you can have a smear test done by the practice nurse. She has a clinic for these tests on a Tuesday morning. First appointment at 8:30am. So I’d have to take time off work to get an appointment. I’m over due my smear, as I’m off over Christmas I thought I might be able to book something in but apparently the Tuesday between Christmas and new year there’s no clinic.

If you don’t work or work very flexibly, or very local to your home (and therefore your GP surgery) it can seem insane that so many people don’t have their tests done. The reality is it’s not going to be a priority for a lot of people. (I will take a morning off at some point to sort this.)

Good for Cliff raising the profile of men getting checked out for prostate cancer.

Obviously he and the PofW have an absolute right to privacy. But they would, IMHO, be more worthy of respect and also serve a more useful function if they were more open about their diagnoses.

I disagree.

If they specified what type of cancer they had, mainstream and social media would light up with speculation about their specific cancers and how it might be affecting them personally. Gossip and speculation.

By keeping their diagnoses private, they are able to talk generically about cancer screening and prevention.

And IMHO they - especially in their position - have a right to their privacy in this matter, as high-profile individuals.

I suspect he has plenty of spare time, frankly! And before anybody says anything, I’m not being snarky about his cancer-I’m delighted he’s doing well. I’m being snarky about his workload/ethic!

Edited

I think his workload is just dandy for a 77-year old.

More worthy of respect if they said what kind of cancer they had? Give it a rest . It's always complicated with you isn't it?

I didn’t take it so positively , they are obviously not able to cure him and managing a terminal diagnosis. It’s incredibly sad .

Oh!
We'll be getting that William then!

Indeed! I would find @CurlewKatemore worthy of respect if she revealed some of her personal health issues and revealed why she thinks Catherine’s cancer is a complicated narrative that caused her to jump on a bandwagon that left her feeling the need to forgive herself!

I don't believe it.

Just keeping UK people chilled at Christmas time.

It will be interesting what he has to say in his speech on Christmas Day.

Will he mention Andrew? Of course not.

Same shit, different day really.
