Here's a summary for you - it's full of British traditions like cracker pulling which she explains 🙄 , how to decorate a tree with lights and wearing matching pyjamas with her friends. Harry appears for the last 5 mins.

Nope. Please trace back all my previous posts. I have no history of this, so please take this back unless you can prove otherwise.

Nice thread derail, thanks people.

Sorry - mea culpa - I’m easily distracted by the inheritance/money issue!

Any idea how you would implement this utopian, socially mobile, merit based society?

How far down the wealth index will people be allowed to hang on to their inheritances?

If my Dad leaves me his £400,000 house I’m okay but if my Dad has a £4M estate I’m out of luck?

What if my ancestor invented somethi g 100 years ago and my family now has massive wealth - all unearned by us?

What if I won the lottery last week - am I banned from creating generational wealth keeping trusts for my DC?

There is nothing to be done regarding the class system that was there and their unearned wealth.

However going forward Britain as a whole needs to drop the whole class system. How you do that, I'm not qualified enough in socioeconomics to even begin debating that. I would start with reforming the shiny star that is the royal family and open them up to scrutiny, make them follow every law of the land. I would disband the House of Lords and inherited peerages.

I have zero issue with people who earn, invent, win money, do what you want with it, you earned it. I'll inherit from my parents at some point.

No I won’t.

Ok don't.

However I have reported your post to MN. I have said you are saying I'm someone I am not. If they agree, they'll delete it, if not, they won't.

Cop yourself on.

Apologies OP for derailing your original thread.

Theresabatinmykitchen · 06/12/2025 16:13

Anyway, back to the actual topic of the thread, do we think this is Meghan’s last foray into lifestyle shows? It’s been panned by critics, what will be her next era? Zoolander hasn’t gone anywhere as yet.

Oh yes another MO I had forgotten that one!

Surely, then it's wrong for you to inherit from your parents? Is all inherited wealth bad, or just some?
Interesting point about the House of Lords. Did you know that inherited peers can't sit in that House? Did you know that most of them are Life Peers?

I’ve read Norman Baker’s book. Just because he claims to be writing a neutral and unbiased account doesn’t mean he is. Readers need to be less naive.

I doubt it. She will just desperately cast around for anything at all that keeps her in the headlines. She's not got the ability or talent. However, she has a royal title and huge wealth because she married into the British RF. Something her fans have no problems with!
She'll always capitalise on that.

Lifestyle shows are really past their prime now. Like about 15 years past their prime! Who is going to sit through an hour of people faffing about someone else's house pretending to cook basic dishes?

Interesting that the 'seasonal special' was filmed over a year ago. Yes, I know these things are usually made well in advance, but a full year is rather a long time. I think it's significant as it shows that NF have not worked with her directly for a year now. Clearly they have no interest in doing so again.

You accuse me of being a poster who name changes and hates Kate. That's simply untrue and you aren't woman enough to stand over your BS.

BigAnne · 06/12/2025 16:20

IcedPurple · 06/12/2025 15:52

Never.

Just like I've never heard Kate and William describe Forest Lodge as their 'forever home'. I've seen it many times here though.

When asked recently what he does on a normal day PW replied that he sleeps a lot as he has 3 young children who are exhausting. I think he was laughingly trying to be relatable. It was the guy he was showing around on the e-scooter.

I don’t know I can’t really imagine what she will do next - that’s why she’s so fascinating.

Id have crawled into a dark hole to spend the next 20 years out of the public eye if my TV show, podcast, Netflix specials and book had been so widely panned and criticized.

The As Ever show is glossy, she looks fabulous but she just not a natural presenter - at the moment, it’s possible she might improve. Her acting on Suits was miles better than her early work.

I think she’d be better off if she was hired to be the presenter on someone else’s projects - she can clearly take direction as seen by Suits - I think being in charge and micromanaging everything is hampering her because she’s clearly very sensitive to how she comes across that it feels odd and unnatural at times.

Yes but the generations before you have.

The generations of royals and upper classes, where did their original wealth come from?

On the House of Lords, I may have the set up incorrect as you pointed out however the whole premise of it is what I disagree with.

It's inherited, you didn't earn it.
Maybe your family made it by exploiting others, poor wages. Maybe even slavery? Maybe they were paragons of virtue and just got lucky on a lottery or somesuch?
You either agree with inherited/unearned wealth, or you don't.

She might. But so might lots of people, if given the chance. Meghan has had plenty of chances and nobody is desperate to offer her big contracts like they were 5 years ago.

she can clearly take direction as seen by Suits

But that's when she was a jobbing actress, not an exalted Royal Duchess!
