As ever, WLM, PR disasters continued

Online, people are pointing out that a very expensive cashmere jumper that Meg wore on suits, also made its way to her wardrobe

It’s been nothing but PR disasters of late.

What I have noticed which is curious - is that the UK tabloids are not running with P6 story about the dress. Just like they avoided talking about the NY car chase. They only reported on the media frenzy. But, we know Harry sent out some sort of memo not to publish photos etc. None of the UK press did. Now Meg has acknowledged the stolen dress story and released an official refute ….and none of the UK press are even reporting on that?

That’s weird. They will literally print any old Meg story to get clicks…..but not this one???

The articles on this issue are mainly American.

FleurDeFleur · 04/12/2025 09:15

Oh my god
"You Americans are obsessed with royalty. I hear you elected a King!"
Has he any idea?!

I detest Trump, but I can’t wait for his response to that. 🤯🤯

Isn’t Colbert’s show already cancelled ?

This is absolutely demonstrative that Harry was never suited to royal life, the diplomatic role being a working royal entails, and should not be allowed to be a working royal again. He just flaps his idiotic mouth and doesn't care about the consequences.

Just how arrogant and entitled is he?
The working RF are hosting a diplomatic event for the German President to help improve our standing in Europe. Meanwhile , Harry is promoting himself and his title but also being critical of the American electorate for voting for Trump.
Who elected you to speak for anyone, Harry?

Maybe Harry actually wants Trump to throw him out of the US?

They seem very cosy, Colbert and Harry. I used to wonder who told Colbert to randomly join in with the affair rumour and talk to an American audience about an English woman they'd never heard of. Now I'm wondering if this vindictive man asked his pal to do it.

That’s a good point . SC ( and others) received a legal warning .

Oh my god, that affair rumour? How nasty.

Edited

Yes it is. That's why he's happy having a pop at CBS over settling the Kamala Harris interview lawsuit. The conspiracists think Colbert was cancelled at Trump's behest, but I think poor ratings are the real reason.

Not to mention that Trump getting his ego stroked by the royals in September helps keep the UK onside when it comes to tariffs. We're on the lowest one. Trump is unpredictable, shooting from the hip and imposing crippling rates on anyone he perceives to be an enemy. Just look at Canada.

Yes, plus it was of course the UK government who organised the Trump visit and the state reception. The Royals did their job. It's not their job to question or exclude any Head of State, let alone an elected one.
Mind you, none of them are as arrogant, ignorant and entitled as Harry.

Here's the Colbert/Harry skit. If you can cope with the cringe, please report back!

Oh god he is really desperate - as he says " I will do anything" 😬

My very thought Hmm

Frankly his behaviour looked completely manic to me ... Wonder if it was the drugs?

He's as camp as Christmas.

I wonder how things would have turned out for them if they had taken advice and some time to find their feet as a married couple before plunging into royal duties. Instead Meghan wanted to hit the ground running whilst Harry appears to have told her nothing about how the Royal family worked. They set themselves up for failure because neither of them had the patience to go slowly, think things through and take time to work out what they wanted to do and how it would fit in with the rest of the firm.

The same impatience to get to the end of the process, rather than go step by step, has shown in the way they have done things post Brexit. I think As Ever still has the potential to be successful, Meghan just needs to go slowly and build the brand rather than expecting it all to be there from Day one.

I think that tiara is slightly too big for Catherine's head but i understand it was designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria so it fits with the occasion.

And also, if Meghan had taken on the advice and mentorship of Sophie, Susan Hussey or Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah when offered to her. Or even read the printed binder of information and advice prepared for her!

Why she didn't (& why he didn't recommend she did) I will never understand. Both completely underestimated the role she was planning to take and the pressures involved.

Meghan IMO, clearly thought being a Senior Working Royal was akin to being an A lost Hollywood celeb, with all of the attendant PR spin and media manoeuvring and polishing of image.

The stepping back could also have been managed completely differently, but ego, resentment and hubris got in the way. Had they not released their OTT statement, not done Oprah or Spare or NF - they would have gotten pretty much the HIHO they wanted, plus Charles funding them.

I'm delighted to see a new tiara, it is stunning, but I wonder if it was a last minute choice, it might have sat better on an up do? I love the dress, and IMO the answer to the sequin question is always - definitely add more.

Yes. That certainly came across.

bluegreygreen · 04/12/2025 10:23

Head in hands here.

I do hope whoever is making the decisions realises he really can't be trusted to be a working royal ever again. Imagine him in a tricky diplomatic reception or on a royal tour representing the country.

I hope eventually he comes to his senses and reconciles with his family - and is part of the family again but not the 'Firm'.

FleurDeFleur · 04/12/2025 10:27

@bluegreygreen did you see how he reacted to the standing ovation?
That's what he wants.

Baital · 04/12/2025 10:28

He could have a career in panto, it pays quite well for the big names...

No, I think pantomime would be too much like hard work.

I agree.

I've never gone along with the idea that he'd be happiest quietly tending to a farm somewhere in Africa. He loves the bright lights and the adulation. His problem is that he no longer has the automatic deference and status that he had in Britain, and now has to sing for his supper. As we can see.

True, it's full on for the performers.
