I get what you’re saying, that public figures aren’t automatically owed sympathy, and everyone should be accountable for their actions. But I think the key difference is that Caroline never had her day in court, so we’ll never really know what actually happened, especially since the exact object involved was never confirmed. Andrew’s case was completely different, it involved a civil settlement and serious allegations that were never denied under oath. And with Ant, yes, he made huge mistakes too, but he faced the consequences, got help, and the press handled him very differently. Caroline’s situation spiralled into a brutal media storm and online hate that clearly broke her down. You don’t have to like her, but it’s just not fair to lump everyone together. You can’t, for example, compare Caroline’s suicide to Jeffrey Epstein's suicide, whose case involved criminal exploitation and power abuse. There's a new documentary on Disney about Caroline's life and struggles, and gives a really thoughtful look at her story. The way she was treated, and how public pile-ons contributed to her death, really should make us stop and think about how we treat people in crisis.

Are you saying Harry is in crisis?

Or maybe getting drunk/whatever when he's inside is the only way he can cope with being there?

He certainly looks pretty "well served" in the OP photo.

🤣 “well served “ yep he’s is all about “service “ isn’t he! 🤣

You wrote about the Sussex photos being deleted in your opening post, and you’ve got a picture of Meghan in her red dress from years ago.

This thread was always meant to be about both of them.

Well doh yes!

I've just looked at a thread on here when the Princess of Wales had her blonder hair . I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link? However the comments on there are certainly very savage. Of course there is a myriad of posters with names that were unheard of before or since ... at least have the courage of your convictions. This is how it works with public figures. There is certainly no need to be abusive personally to me because I posted a pic of Harry admiring Kris Jenner's ample charms. I also posted a pic of Meghan in a dreadful red dress and a poppy. My mother died with dementia in her early 60s and I know what it is like. My MIL died with dementia too. It's a horrible disease and for those who posted and agreed with it let's hope you never have to meet the reality of it.

I’ve seen the deleted pictures now, after looking at them I think they have requested their removal because they are very unflattering to both Harry and Meghan, but again if indeed this is the case then yet again they have shot themselves in the foot because now those pictures are everywhere and are being dissected all over the internet.

Surely not? It's two different colours of black and does not flatter. I would be horrified if I were the designer.

Yes apparently it is, it certainly does not photograph well.

Caroline Flack was charged with assault after an alleged incident with her boyfriend, but she was never convicted. The case never went to trial, so the allegation was never proven. The CPS believed there was enough evidence to go ahead, but she strongly denied it. Sadly, the intense media attention, online abuse, and relentless public scrutiny were cited by her family and friends as major factors in her tragic death by suicide.

It’s worth remembering that every case is different. Comparisons to people like Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor don’t really fit, as hers was an unproven allegation that ended in personal tragedy, not a situation involving power or privilege being used to avoid accountability.

We should be compassionate and kind when we talk about people’s lives online.

I hesitate to get into these discussions because we all have difficult experiences in our pasts .
the use of Caroline flack to close down criticism of women by women needs to stop, at best it’s misguided at worst it’s manipulative.
yes it’s tragic that she took her own life before going to court but she also robbed her victim of his justice.
domestic abusers do this all the time , sometimes to escape justice, sometimes to punish their victim further.
sex should never be an excuse! , just because she’s a woman and he was a man doesn’t negate her crime.
if people were all entirely honest with themselves they know that had the roles been reversed, no one would question his innocence or not believe her, and if he had done the same nobody would be invoking his name to remind people to “be kind” !

Currently wallowing at a pitiful 9 likes on my first comment. But I have faith! If we all band together, surely we can push this poor, struggling 9 over the magical threshold and hit the fabled 13. Please, please, please, elevate me to the exalted status of ‘right’ among total strangers 🤣

I’m going to up vote you purely on the beauty of your name.
Is your hair as beautiful ?

I get what you’re saying about gender double standards and that victims deserve justice, no argument there. My point wasn't to excuse Caroline or say she was innocent. The case never went to trial, so we don’t know the full picture. The conversation is about the media and online pile-on and how it contributed to her death. You can acknowledge the seriousness of domestic abuse and recognise that relentless public shaming can have tragic consequences. Treating people with basic humanity doesn’t mean we’re ignoring wrongdoing, it just means we don’t pile on in a way that can destroy someone before the facts are known.

BunnyLake · 12/11/2025 13:25

Don’t really care either way about Meghan but I really dislike Harry. I would hate to be going home to him.

The way she was treated, and how public pile-ons contributed to her death, really should make us stop and think about how we treat people in crisis.

To be fair, Andrew could never have made those denials under oath because Virginia chose to settle out of court. I honestly fully believe he had sex with her (whether he knew she was trafficked or not is another matter) but legally, he’s never been found guilty because Virginia opted for a settlement instead of her day in court. It’s frustrating, but that’s how it works unfortunately.

Andrew has effectively been found guilty in the court of public opinion, which is why his titles were stripped. Public “pile-ons” can have an impact, for better or worse. But taken to an extreme, this also shows the danger: a man who hasn’t been legally convicted (remember, we are innocent until proven guilty) could potentially be hounded to death and there would be little public sympathy for him. Epstein is in a completely different category: he was a convicted pedophile and trafficker of multiple victims, so comparisons don’t really hold. Andrew, as far as we are aware, has had no other allegations of sex with trafficked or under aged victims made against him.

I see your point about Ant, but he was incredibly lucky no one was killed. Many forget there was a three year old in one of the cars during the crash he caused while under the influence. That said, he took responsibility and got help, which matters. But imagine being the parent of that child if the worst had happened, there’s no way to minimise that risk and I doubt there would have been as much sympathy for his mental health if he had caused life changing injuries or death to one of his victims.

As for Caroline Flack, I just can’t sympathise. Mental health struggles don’t excuse physically assaulting your partner (I talk from personal experience here). It’s sad that she felt there was no other option than to end her own life, but her actions had consequences and she couldn’t deal with those consequences of literally lamping her partner whilst he was asleep. At the end of the day, she was a domestic abuser, just as Andrew had sex with a trafficked girl and Ant drove drunk.

I do respect your opinion though, it’s actually refreshing to have a thoughtful discussion on here rather than the usual bun fight that break out on these types of threads.

How is he pretending to run off?

You can see in the video someone off camera saying something to him from where he is looking and talking, whilst in the background other personnel running towards a helicopter by looks of it. Its clear he is being told about at it and needs to go join them hence he rapidly gets up pulls off the mic and runs off.

All people acused of crime get the same treatment via sm and news now , even on mn , just as an example that has been mentioned before.. Andrew is being absolutely blasted on every front from all over the world! , by your logic shouldn’t you be worried about his mental health?
afterall he hasn’t been convicted or been to trial so we don’t know the full story yet.
and no it doesn’t matter that you deem his crimes worse or his victims more sympathetic or that you don’t like him….either you stand by your words and view for all or you don’t.

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 12/11/2025 13:48

Returning to the original post, I don’t think Harry is looking at the red dressed woman in front of him: he looks too out of it to focus
And the photo of Meghan, I think we can all agree it does not do her any favours; can’t say if H appreciates it or not
Think that is what OP was about, but posts seem to have spiralled…..

Surely not? It's two different colours of black and does not flatter. I would be horrified if I were the designer.

The upper part looks like those plain black tops you get in Primark for a few quid. I have several of them and wear them under jumpers when it's cold. It looks unfinished, like the foundation of an outfit rather than the outfit itself. An odd choice for an 'A list' party.

Meghan never seems to get the tone right. She's often massively overdressed for events, yet here, where everyone is pushing the boat out and going full glam, she's wearing a rather drab black outfit. It's not flattering to her body type either.

jeffgoldblum · 12/11/2025 13:52

The interview with Harry that has recently been shared by Meghan, has already been outed by his fellow service men and the reporters in question as being manufactured for the interview as pr for Harry , this was reported on years ago and is widely known now .

Did you see video of them at Bob Marley film showing: she was wearing an opulent black evening gown, and they were shown to the cheap seats; everyone else was wearing T-shirts and baseball caps
Their faces were like thunder
