I think this is spot on, and that's why they cling onto the titles - they would literally be nothing without them - a dim lout, and a washed up minor actress.

Also why they use them for the children. Future proofing.

Ohpleeeease · 14/11/2025 11:58

I think they would have more value than that to be honest. In a world full of super rich celebrities, to be royal does give them something extra. You can’t really top a royal guest, however poorly regarded they are in the place that actually gave them their titles.

Did I say their titles? I mean of course our titles, because they belong to the nation, not the holder. We really shouldn’t forget that.

Quite! If they really wanted to break “generational harms,” they wouldn’t burden kids who aren’t growing up within the royal fold with titles, and the inevitable comparisons and impression that they are losing out on something of which they should be a part.

BigOldBlobsy · 14/11/2025 12:07

I think she looks absolutely stunning in the red dress.

But how 'royal' are they now?

Harry I guess was born royal and grew up in a palace, but he's barely been seen at a royal event or in the company of senior royals for over 5 years now. His royal sheen has dimmed somewhat.

Meghan was only royal for a very short time several years ago. I don't think anyone really thinks of her as 'royal'. It's not like being 'in' with them means there's a chance of an invite to Buckingham Palace to say hello to the King. If anything, being associated with the Sussexes makes it less likely you could cultivate a relationship with the senior royals.

I think they're more of a curiosity than anything else at this stage. And even that is fading.

Thedom · 14/11/2025 12:29

Did either of them attend Jane Goodall’s funeral on Wednesday, I wonder? Leo DiCaprio being lauded for a great eulogy.

Thedom · 14/11/2025 12:35

Their shenanigans will be a lot less bizarre and fascinating without their Royal titles!

All this photos bullshit i.e. the posting, deleting, signed consent forms, no consent forms - it’s all for the drama! It’s the kardashians, harry and meghan so it means it’s probably all just a performance for their reality show. Like we saw with meghan and gwyneth, they or maybe just meg, will probably appear in a couple episodes where they 'hash it out' and then 'make up’. Kris’ party was days ago, yet it and the sussex’s are still showbiz news. Whatever you think of the kardashians they are savvy when it comes to business and attention!

Definitely some kind of publicity stunt, instigated by either the Kardashians or H&M or both

NormaMajors1992coat · 14/11/2025 13:49

I’d be more likely to subscribe to the publicity stunt theory if Meghan actually looked good in the photos. I think she’s unlikely to want more people to see them, and I think the Kardashians probably wouldn’t have planned to let Meghan steal any of their thunder. More likely I think is embarrassment on Meghan’s part that she got the outfit wrong and it didn’t photograph well, and on Harry’s part because of the inevitable juxtaposition of the RF looking very royal at the Cenotaph and Harry looking like a pissed as a fart C-lister at a Kardashian party.

IcedPurple · 14/11/2025 11:32

I don’t think either of them knows what they want, other than to be rich and famous, both of which they’ve achieved.

Harry achieved that by being born.

Meghan by marrying him.

The past 5 years have been a steep downward trajectory for them.

I agree with the famous part. But IMHO, the rich part is relative.

On an absolute basis H&M are in the tens of millions category, so are rich. But the benchmark for rich for the party guestlist is well north of $100 million with more than one private jet. And Bezos, who owns the party location, is on another level of rich as he is private spaceship level rich.

H&M do not qualify as rich in this crowd!

Oh absolutely! Wealth is relative.

Compared to me and probably everyone else here the Sussexes are loaded. They could afford not to work another day in their lives and still live in great comfort, if maybe not A list opulence. But compared to most of the guests at that party they will have been paupers. And while it may sound trivial, Meghan turning up in years old seperates from minor designers just underscores that.

Royals other than the monarch and Prince of Wales aren't that rich in disposable income terms. But they have the type of status money can't buy as well as all sorts of other perks. Obviously there are downsides but it's a very sheltered and privileged life, the only one Harry had ever known. I'm not sure he's equipped to survive in a world where you're only as good as the money you make.

IcedPurple · 14/11/2025 10:40

I think Hary loved being a 'royalebrity' rather than a 'celebrity'.

As a royal, no matter what he did or where he went, he was always the most important person in the room, expect on the rare occasions a more senior royal was present. Everyone pandered to him and everything was organised around him, simply because he was royal. Those rules don't apply in California. At the Bezos party, he would have been a C lister. Just another guest. That's novel for him, and I don't think he likes it.

IMO that's absolutely spot on, IcedPurple, and also why I sometimes wonder how Harry really feels about his current status rather than the one he had, however undeserved

If anything, being associated with the Sussexes makes it less likely you could cultivate a relationship with the senior royals

Thoroughly agree with this too, and it must really burn

OK, is this shade? KK is in Brazil now. She's posted a pic of Christ the Redeemer. But also, randomly, a load of autographs, including Princess Diana's and Nelson Mandela's. Meanwhile, Kris Jenner is plugging candles by Tommy Hilfiger's wife. They have wicks! 😂

Edit: Also Walt Disney's autograph.

Edited

Today, Kris Jenner is posting about how she gift wraps like a professional and giving a demo. Isn't this what Meghan's Christmas special is also supposed to be about?

Wasn't this reputedly one of Harry's issues? That the crowd he ran with in London/from school were all heirs and heiresses of the extremely wealthy, so despite his title, he was a relative pauper with his little (£1m) annual allowance from pa. Wasn't he notorious for being tight fisted? Remember how it was Meghan having to buy a second hand sofa for Nott Cott?

Yes apparently Meghan did “ advanced “ gift wrapping! , I’m not sure what to think really, it does seem like “shade “ at this point!
oh and apparently Kim put a video on her insta on the same day as h and m with a different African child dancing group! , this one dancing with a huge photo of her!!! , I mean it’s a bit more than a coincidence but 🤷‍♀️

There's been times I've seen him with a slightly bewildered look on his face, as if he's thinking 'How on earth did I end up here? It wasn't meant to be like this!' Of course that's just my interpretation and could be completely wrong.

Back in Blighty, there was always someone to smooth his path and clean up after him. He didn't have to make any effort, because his status was guaranteed. Not anymore.

Eh, it's been done.

It gets worse. Not only was she wearing mismatched black fabrics…..she was actually wearing brown velvet shoes and a brown bag….with the shiny/stretchy bodysuit and crepe skirt.

Now I thought that when I first seen it, but thought surely not.

Well the aquazzura heels only come in Dark brown.

She hobbled together a truly awful outfit. The sort of thing you do when everything is in the wash!

He was notoriously tight, according to previous girlfriends. Note that allowance from Pa was just spending money - everything else was paid for, accomodation, transport, security, food, housekeeping, official clothing, office staff etc.
I find it highly unlikely that a sofa couldn't be found from one of the residences! William and Kate lived at Nott Cott, even after George was born

I suspect she got a freebie from Aquazzura- because the shoes, bag and earrings are all in the new collection.

She wanted to wear them/paid to wear them- but had no idea what to put them together with. Hence the atrocious body suit and skirt, that not only doesn’t match in colour but doesn’t match in texture. Lycra and velvet? .

Aquazurra posted on their insta a pic of Meg wearing them.

😂😂

Well this is the lady who brought us such ground breaking delights as …. Spreading cream cheese on a plate, slicing strawberries and sprinkling dried flowers on top then serving with un toasted sliced bagels …. And announced that this was “elevated “ .

And the earrings are brown topaz and gold…..with the black

To be fair, those earrings are gorgeous! But black and brown was always a fashion no no!

Not to wade into a hornet's nest, but we saw the same issues with Uncle Andrew.

Because of who they are, royals get to hang out with the richest people on earth. However, they themselves are nowhere near as rich, and have no opportunity to become that rich. At least not by legitimate means. They already have immense prestige, status and what by most standards is an extremely comfortable life, but they feel entitled to much more because of 'who they are'.
