She had a beautiful black trouser suit when she was newly married. I don't know why she doesn't wear those lovely clothes again.

Choux · 14/11/2025 09:05

I think rewearing clothes her father in law paid for before they left the working royal family would risk bad UK publicity. They will never be seen in public again.

JoyintheMorning · 14/11/2025 09:06

Are her tits a long way apart or is it the red dress pulling them sideways?

*According to some reports, the couple personally asked for the ‘unapproved’ photos to be deleted and were ‘furious’ that they went up without permission.
‘They were polite but firm - nothing goes online without their sign-off,’ one source explained. ‘They’ve built their brand on control, and they weren’t about to let a Kardashian post ruin that.’ *

I'm not sure that backhanded comment about the Kardashians is going to help. In the celebrity world they are much higher status than Meghan.

I do wonder though if this is why Meghan posted something glowing about Harry's life of service on her Instagram. Sort of poppy substitute.

Whatever the truth of the matter it does seem as if they are catastrophically bad at playing the PR game, not very helpful if you want to be a celebrity.

Good point. It's a shame. All that lovely bespoke couture. She usually looked fantastic.

I'm absolutely convinced she's gone as "Bond in a polo neck" and he's "Bond in a tux". I reckon they got "Bond theme" mixed up with fancy dress.

Did Bond wear his polo neck with a long skirt and sandals?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/11/2025 09:29

MadeInGrimsby · 13/11/2025 19:34

It's very peculiar, isn't it? When she was a working royal, she often looked very elegant and chic. She wore bespoke couture from Givenchy, Dior etc, paid for by KC.
I'm sure she could rewear some of that? It would look miles better than some of these recent outfits.

I don't tend to comment on "appearance", but your post does make me wonder what happened to all the very expensive clobber she wore while working among the RF

Being high end stuff, maybe it's all stashed away against the possibility of doing a Diana-style auction one day?

True!
What about that gold dress she wore at that Hertz Van Rental place? I'm sorry I can't remember the event, but that dress looked very glamorous.

Not on screen, no. But I think you get my point.

The rumour - and it's just that - is that it was all returned and refunded, and the money not passed on to Charles. I'm sure that's not true, but she's certainly not worn any of it again. She could sell them off for charity if she wanted to do something for some positive PR. There are a couple of outfits that are iconic. Eg, the blue Victoria Beckham (from the rain shot). The Audrey Hepburn-esue black and white dress with the birds worn on one of the tours. That gorgeous, long red dress with the cape she wore to a formal event.

I still think they were invited to the party last minute by Serena who was at the charity event and with them, hence Meghan being in the same outfit. Although Harry did change, maybe Meghan thought she looked nice in her outfit? I didn’t think her outfit was bad but it just didn’t suit the event which was so glamorous. Make it make sense!

I don't know what the forum rules are. This forum is very lightly moderated, but on most discussion forums I know, there is little tolerance for off topic posters and repeat offenders are banned.

I do think coming onto a thread with no intention of contributing to the subject under discussion, but instead repeatedly insulting other posters and trying to drag the discussion off topic, is poor practice and should not be allowed. However, I don't run this forum and don't make the rules. I just try to ignore the goady baiters.

Well put. I’m not fussed about what Meghan Markle wears or does as a celebrity, my ears only prick up when she plays the duchess card, so I’m a bit of a casual scroller, but I do notice posters I recognise from years back who are here for the sole reason of berating others who do take an interest. Despite feigning disinterest here they are, year after year, thread after thread, contributing nothing but their disdain. I just don’t get it.

My offering, feel free to ignore, is that Rebecca English (DM columnist and generally BP friendly) says that contrary to what she sees on social media about miserable Harry hating the celebrity lifestyle, her observation of him when he was a royal is that he actually loved it. He enjoyed the celebrity attention and fretted about how long he would have it before George became the media’s darling.

Apologies if that disrupts the flow of the thread, I’m struggling to keep up!

MadeInGrimsby · 14/11/2025 10:05

@Ohpleeeease - yes, I think Harry loves being a celebrity just as much as Meghan does. They both live for publicity. I'd heard that he felt threatened by George and the next generation, too.
They didn't leave because they hated Royal life, or wanted more privacy; they just wanted to be Royal on their terms.
I also think it's interesting how they have styled their children Prince and Princess. Quite the statement of intent.

Indianrollerbird · 14/11/2025 10:05

I can believe that. He loves to party, he was always the party prince. He just doesn't want to be criticised when it gets a bit wild (like in Vegas) and/or held up as a hypocrite when he's so preachy about so many things.

Does anyone remember Sharon Stone wearing a gap t shirt with a designer skirt at the Oscars in the 90s. She looked fabulous. I wondered if M was copying that look. I had a look on the Internet and apparently SS pulled the outfit together with the help of a stylist and I think that explains why it worked. Professional stylists know the small details that make things work. Plus SS is an amazingly attractive woman with a great figure.

The Vegas thing didn’t sit well with me. He talked about being “too much Army and not enough Prince”, but the truth is that no soldier of his rank would have been staying in a luxury hotel and having his minders rounding up pretty girls to get naked with. He was very much Prince on that occasion and not the good sort.

I don’t think either of them knows what they want, other than to be rich and famous, both of which they’ve achieved.

But now what? I think the Kardashian spat is an example of what a drama filled life of nonsense they lead. Even the emptiest of heads will tire of that eventually.

I think Hary loved being a 'royalebrity' rather than a 'celebrity'.

As a royal, no matter what he did or where he went, he was always the most important person in the room, expect on the rare occasions a more senior royal was present. Everyone pandered to him and everything was organised around him, simply because he was royal. Those rules don't apply in California. At the Bezos party, he would have been a C lister. Just another guest. That's novel for him, and I don't think he likes it.

I agree, he basically wants all the good bits of being royal AND a celebrity, but doesn’t think he should have to accept any of the bad bits, like any controls over his behaviour or any criticism in the media. He actually believes he’s entitled to a life where everyone bows and scrapes and fawns over him and he can do whatever he want without any sort of scrutiny or consequence.

some of the rumours about the party are a bit bizarre - for example that H&M crashed the party and that’s why their photos were removed. That makes no sense - if that was the case then the Kardashians wouldn’t have posted them in the first place, or even posed for photos with them.

I think the truth is that the photos were somewhat unflattering of the pair of them, and they also realised the optics were bad with the clash with Remembrance Day, and they threw a hissy fit and demanded that they be taken down. It wouldn’t be unusual behaviour for them - remember in New York where Harry tried to demand the paparazzi photos of them be handed over (and got that gloriously snarky response from the photo agency).

I can well believe that sort of entitled behaviour rubbed the Kardashians up the wrong way. I don’t think it’s any sort of PR stunt (on H&M’s part certainly) - they don’t come out of this looking good at all, and they’re both too thin skinned to court bad publicity just for the sake of staying in the news.

I remember Diana wearing a tux and as Meghan likes to emulate her , I am surprised she didn’t opt for that .
I think she would have looked great.

Indianrollerbird · 14/11/2025 11:29

@JSMill , that was a great look - but I can't think of a time when Sharon Stone has ever got it wrong.

I said this at the time: if, at that Bob Marley premier, Meghan had worn a funky reggae inspired t-shirt with that wide, taffeta skirt - instead of the mis-match black vest that tried to make the outfit look like a ball gown - she'd have looked super cool and not at all over-dressed for the occasion.

Harry achieved that by being born.

Meghan by marrying him.

The past 5 years have been a steep downward trajectory for them.

I think this is spot on, and that's why they cling onto the titles - they would literally be nothing without them - a dim lout, and a washed up minor actress.
