.... With the prospect of no more title, no charities, no free mansion?

How long before she leaves the ghastly ex to wallow alone in the pile of shit he's created?

I have no idea if any truth in it but I'm sure I read that once William is King he is slimming down RF further so only working royals have titles by Letters Patent so Andrew, Fergie, Harry, and Meghan lose Duke and Duchess titles and Beatrice, Eugenie, Archie and Lilibet all lose Prince and Princess titles. No need for any of them to have them as none are working royals. Zara and Peter managed without any titles, Edwards 2 children don't use their HRH and Prince or Princess titles. It means they don't get royal security unless going a job specifically for the King.

This would be an excellent plan. I hope he see's it through.

ShenandoahRiver · 27/10/2025 15:58

If titles go so should their ability to milk their royal connections.

CatrionaBalfour · 27/10/2025 15:59

I've just seen a report which answers your question, OP.
It claims that Ferguson is going to drop PA.

He won’t. He’s got his daughters and grandchildren here.

I don't see why that would affect his plans. His daughters are adults and one of them lives in Portugal!

MoondustandFairies · 27/10/2025 16:46

Another thought to consider for Sarah to stick around & need reasonable space to do so ... 🤣
Didn't she take on the custodial role of the late Queen's corgis?
So despite being divorced from her live in ex husband & having no Royal title now she could still stretch out her continuing links to the Firm via the doggies? Another book maybe?
But definitely a house oh her own to accommodate her taking on the dogs.

It would affect plenty of people’s plans! I am sure Eugenie spends plenty of time in the UK. I would rather be in the same country as my children/grandchildren, although one of mine lives elsewhere.

Just because they are grown up doesn’t mean you’re no longer close to them!

Fergs can have a whole street of houses for her & the corgi's if she so wishes.
As long as she pays for them.

The Castle of Mey rumor was just someone saying it for a joke as it's the furthest away from anyone, and then the gossip mongers ran with it. They would never offer it to anyone, it's run by a special trust set up to preserve the building for the benefit of the community in Scotland and to further research into Scottish heritage in monuments, buildings, and agricultural practices. It's current trustee is the Kings Foundation, and it's run for charitable purposes.

Now the Sun is stirring the pot by suggesting the two most recently renovated homes in Windsor. I can't imagine Andrew begging to be allowed to live in Harry's cast offs.

viques · 27/10/2025 18:14

Dollymylove · 27/10/2025 10:58

I reckon he'll take up an offer from one of his wealthy middle east mates and take Fergie with him

She won’t go, too hot.

Theunamedcat · 27/10/2025 09:49

I cant see anything justification for housing her at all

She may be rewarded for keeping PA under control

A sterling job she’s done of that 🙄

No one actually knows what is going on, but the theorising sells papers.

Imaginethatifyoucan · 27/10/2025 18:27

I suspect part of this drive to get Andrew out of RL is because William and kate don't want those two living nearby so they are very unlikely to want to have them move into Adelaide Cottage and Frogmore. The cost of keeping two properties running with staff, overheads etc will be eye watering.

Londonmummy66 · 27/10/2025 18:30

CatrionaBalfour · 27/10/2025 10:08

I don't think there was any requirement to house Mark Phillips and he certainly wasn't as controversial as Ferguson.

Princess Anne housed him on the Gatcombe estate - he continued to train Zara there.

Yes, someone said that upthread. Sounds like a sensible arrangement.

Needspaceforlego · 27/10/2025 18:35

I suspect given William and Kate don't have live in staff, they don't see a need for other minor or ex Royals to have live in staff either.

I wonder what the plan is for Royal lodge?
Open to public for a nosy round or hotel?

Londonmummy66 · 27/10/2025 18:43

I think KC would like to let out RL if a suitably "safe" tenant could be found.

Teado · 27/10/2025 18:43

Re : staff. I’d have to be destitute or desperate to apply for a job working for Andrew or Ferguson. Imagine your job being cleaning their toilets or cooking their breakfasts. Uuuugh. They probably insist on deference as well.

emilysquest · 27/10/2025 18:44

The whole thing of having a fleet of people swanning about with various made-up "titles" is well past its lifetime now. If you want to have royals at all we need a head of state, their spouse and an heir (and perhaps a spare) to be visible and maybe to have some perks like nice housing and and some income in return for working for the country, as it were.

Others directly in line, up to maybe fifth or sixth, could maybe have some sort of allowance, but no reason they should not also work and pay their own way. The rest, nothing at all, just get on with life like everyone else, relying on a mixture of good luck and ability to hopefully succeed in something or other. Maybe they could cadge some dinners sometimes with pompous idiots of friends who think they are somehow special because they are related to the (hereditary, so completely random and non meritocratic) head of state.

Why did they divorce and then continue to be a couple?

He still wanted family life but also wanted to be free to put it about. Not that being married has stopped members of the royal family before!

I imagine they hope there will be interest from a billionaire who wants the cachet of living on the Crown Estate and happy to fund a lot of the renovations themselves. Like the Canadian family who lease Fort Belvedere. They've had it since the 1980s and have spent a lot of money on the building and the gardens, including doubling the size of the lake.

It would be a win to get someone like that to take on Royal Lodge because then it wouldn't cost the Crown Estate as much to fix what Andrew hasn't been doing.

Yes, it certainly never inhibited the couple formerly known as York.
I read that the late Queen insisted they divorce after SF and the candid toe sucking pictures.
That must have been quite a morning at Balmoral when those papers arrived.

@Teado A nightmare job!

waitamo · 27/10/2025 19:44

Are they definitely leaving Royal Lodge, like just going and closing the door behind them next week or what?

I'm seeing things about A agreeing provided he gets Frogmore, and SF gets the other place Adelaide cottage.

That's not leaving, that's swopping.

Will there not be uproar if they get TWO places? Both renovated recently. Very convenient! Why wouldn’t 5 bedrooms be more than adequate?
