Why is there more online vitriol towards Megan Markle than Andrew?

I find it ridiculous how there is consistent hate towards Megan markle when she does pretty low key things like launching jam that no one is being forced to buy. People were delighted that she is no longer using HRH titles and even said she shouldn’t call herself the Duchess of Sussex (even though that is distinct from royal titles).

On the flip side - NO ONE has called for an actual investigation into Prince Andrew on the days that he claimed to be at Pizza Express in Woking, when his movements are logged by the royal gamily and his security detail so they eill
know exactly where he was!

He slept with an underage victim of sex trafficking who
conveniently died by suicide shortly before her memoir naming and shaming many individuals came out.

Limited criticism of the late Queen who used £12million
pg her personal money to pay off an underage sec trafficking victim & shielded him from any investigation.

Disgusted by it all and was amused to see the vitriol on an article about Megan breathing, whereas limited calls for Andrew to be investigated by any U.S or UK authorities!

I am seeing plenty of stuff about Andrew! It’s totally dominated my BlueSky feed. I’m not on X any more so no idea what’s happening there. As a PP said, it partly depends what you’ve read in the past.

Because Andrew is rarely in the press and when he is no disagrees that he is a disgusting person.

Meghan is often is often in the press and she is a figure that splits opinion.

Yes, because new revelation's have come to light even though he has retired from public life. Thanks to the British press and what they’ve been reporting on the last week.

Meg and Harry haven’t retired and are constantly pulling PR stunts to get themselves in the headlines and trending on SM.
If you have a problem with that, then your problem is with them, not those that choose to comment on those who live a celebrity lifestyle and publish their life on SM.

Again it’s because they asked for privacy, and it was supposedly one of the factors in their departure from the UK, then publicise themselves at every opportunity. Others living a celebrity lifestyle haven’t asked for privacy, they should have just moved and not gone on about wanting a private life and then people wouldn’t have the opportunity to call them out on it. I do sometimes think they are the masters of their own downfall, Andrew just got lucky because the late Queen had better advisors around her and because of that he’s played it better and is largely forgotten about. Had Harry and Meghan stayed as working royals they would have had the same advisors and they probably would have turned it around for them but I do believe they surround themselves with the wrong people who are keen to make a quick buck off them.

And although Andrew has obviously done heinous wrong, many people simply don't like Meghan. Either because they are racists or because she's pure Hollywood. Take your pick. I probably wouldn't like Andrew whatsoever but that's because of what I've heard about him whereas with Meghan that what I've seen for myself.

She feeds it herself. Andrew doesn't seem to be having much luck with his strategy ATM he's having a very bad press week if you'd not noticed.

Literally nobody defends Andrew, so there is little to discuss. I do think that the recent revelations have shown him in an even worse light than before and significantly damaged Fergie. So I understand people feeling upset about it and the idea that it’s not fair that Meghan seems to get more flak.

However, Andrew and Fergie themselves are not particularly interesting, whereas Meghan’s behaviour is endlessly fascinating. And although I do think she and Harry have caused harm, to various members of the RF and to the victims of their bullying, it’s nothing compared to the harm Andrew has done, and their behaviour can be made fun of.

It's been less than a week since he made his announcement. And for some reason there have been a lot of Meghan threads lately, no idea why. Oh hang on... she went to Paris Fashion Week... the horror!

I’ve often wondered this. Meghan didn’t play ball with Piers Morgan and the press. Imo it worsened when the press realised they’d tapped into an undercurrent of racism and sexism that helped them generate loads of click bait revenue.

They were onto a winner. The Royal Family rely on the press so would never speak up against them.

Andrew is viewed by many as a playboy prince. But a determined divorcee is torn down at every opportunity. Loads of successful men in the public eye have self promoted, got divorced, been unscrupulous. A lot of the Meghan haters are Piers Morgan lovers. What does that tell you. It’s all very shameful.

Catherine barely says anything but even that couldn’t save her from the press. I think the best thing the RF can do now is exile Andrew and maintain a cordial personal relationship with H&M. That will reflect best on them.

Pages 3-4 - Double spread on Andrew - again, expected.

And then, multiple stories about the sheer awfulness of Meghan, including her own double page spread. Just, why?

The whole paper was about 50% Meghan, 30% Andrew, 20% news. And I may be overestimating the news element, esp as there were 2 pages about Nadine Dorries' breast implants.

The Meghan hate bandwagon is just continuous, even when she is doing nothing.

She didn’t just attend Paris Fashion Week like any other celebrity though did she? She had do it Zoolander style, then tell the world she was invited by the designer who is a good friend of hers, only that wasn’t true and she actually invited herself and then makes a controversial video of herself being driven at night through Paris, quite coincidentally, very near to where her husband’s mother was killed and then she posts it on her instagram. It’s all about squeezing as much publicity out of an event as she possibly can - she loves to be talked about. I don’t know why people feel sorry for her. 🤷‍♀️

It's cheap to create 'journalism' - just regurgitating old events and opinions, which delivers a big ROI in terms of viewers, readers and advertising revenue.

It's filler for the print paper when it's a slow news day, but it's mainly written for the online audience to provoke engagement - particularly people arguing about it in the comments which creates more clicks and advertising revenue.

This thread is a great example of this. Posters keep creating "Why oh why is Meghan..... x, y z "

Because she's marmite and marmite creates debate. It's just about the money.
