I think she had the most incredible opportunities, but to be honest, I think it was all really beyond her (and him). She was VP of the Commonwealth Trust, and could have had the most amazing life, travelling all over the world, meeting interesting people, supporting projects, helping developing nations. She could have supported the work of the monarch in the UK, meeting movers and shakers, helping charities etc.
I just think she really wasn't up to it. Nor is Harry. I don't mean to be unkind, but it was really beyond the abilities and personalities of both of them.

I sort of agree. I think sometimes leaving was a knee jerk reaction but I also think it was never ever going to work and they got out.

The royal family are pretty dysfunctional... 3 out of 4 siblings divorced from QE2, just all so messy

I am speaking from experience.

I hope that W&K are doing it right, I have no idea if they are.

OctopusFriend · 17/10/2025 20:30

I agree, @jumpingthehighjump , although to be fair, both KC and Princess Anne appear to have had successful second marriages.
Anyway, I think you're right about the knee jerk reaction, and that it never would have worked. If you read Spare and how often Meghan was on the floor sobbing, and how often Harry couldn't cope, just really underlines this basic problem.

Me too! I can parallel park with a couple of inches front and back!

It's about the only thing I can do and I don't know why!

It’s an underrated skill, @jumpingthehighjump

You are a genius! I need half the street, plus 4 spaces in a carpark! I don't even have a big car.

Yes. Being rational here, I just knew it was a disaster and this would happen.

I would love to say about my dysfunctional family and the 3 in 4 divorcing but it's a bit personal!

Aww bless you! I'm useless at most things but somehow I can get in a space that no man can!

It annoys my husband lol

@OctopusFriendI think you are right. She just wasn’t up to the job and ultimately she did herself and everyone else a favour by leaving but it’s a shame that family relationships were blown apart in the process.

Whats so funny about it? Thats the class she was teaching along with calligraphy when she worked at paper source

This isnt something new she is suddenly comong out with, she is just sharing knowledge she has from back when she used to do it teaching others.

So i dont get what is so hilarious about what she said she taught people on advanced gift wrapping.. and? There are always different levels on things like this...beginner, advanced etc.

For someone who issues statements about ‘key moments on the world stage’, it’s like turning on BBC2 and seeing Kofi Annan Makes Paper Doilies.

Completely off topic but I am the proud owner of a set of Barack and Michelle Obama paper dolls, complete with all their Inauguration outfits.

And the Queen gifted Meghan her own patronage, Patron of the National Theatre and now instead she is going to do reels on TiK Tok……

Maybe they are nice people and the Uk press have ruined them. Don’t believe everything you read

What, not even stuff they've written themselves?
Ok.

SoReadyFor · 17/10/2025 21:54

That patronage was passed on to Queen Camilla. She hosted a reception in Buckingham Palace this year. Cate Blanchett, Andrew Garfield, Lesley Manville and other big stars were there. That could have been Meghan, with A listers lining up to meet her, in an actual palace.

Instead she's talking about being a Tik Tok influencer and boasting of her 'advanced gift wrapping' skills at C list events sponsored by Shop by Google. Oh well, at least she's found her freedom.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/10/2025 22:00

Now Andrew and Sarah are officially out of the picture the spotlight is going to be even more on Harry and d Meghan, they had better be squeaky clean from now on if they are to hang onto their titles, William won’t be taking any prisoners.

I agree. It’s a direction of travel but H&M are no where near the vileness of A&S.

Give them time, they’ve not been around as long as Andrew and Sarah and they hang around with some dubious characters themselves, Tyler Perry for one.
