The royal family

Is Meghan a narcissist?

I keep seeing these reels and social media smears on Meghan being a narcissist and abusive partner to Harry. She certainly doesn't seem overly popular with the royal family or understood the expectations of her as a royal when she married him.

I'm by no means a royalist or a fan of Megan's. But I'm the same age as Harry so always felt I could relate a little to him. I haven't read his book or watched the netflix docs.

The main thing that doesn't sit quite right for me is they wanted a 'private life' and then done anything but. Did Megan use Harry's desire for privacy to isolate him from his family and friends?

Beatrice had a fairly modest wedding with a borrowed dress. Though I think that was mostly down to Covid.

Beatrice didn’t have a modest wedding lol,and she borrowed the dress from the queen, 😂

By Royal standards it was very modest . 30 guests .

Ooh-what women has Harry been “up to no good” with? I love a bit of gossip!

And yes- I think ridiculous amounts of public money are squandered on royal events like weddings and banquets and so on-I would stop the lot of them tomorrow if I was in charge. But I thought the Royalist point of view is that it is all worth it because tourism and soft power. Despite there being no evidence at all to support that.

Thirty guests is pretty modest in non-royal circles too.

Wasn’t that because of Covid? And vintage Norman Hartnell is hardly a normal “borrow” is it? 🤣

Yes, that is what I said. Covid.

Not necessarily. Beatrice could have waited but obviously being married to the man she loves was more important that a large wedding .

I think she doesn’t want to be like her parents, if even half of the (Lownie) stories are accurate, Sarah’s materialism &
profligacy are astonishing.

Like you , i don’t know if the wedding size was due to Covid or the fact that her father had made an arse of himself during the Maitlis interview or if she never wanted a big wedding.

It was supposed to be in May 2020 and postponed because of Covid. Then she had a private, family wedding at the chapel at Royal Lodge, Windsor, in accordance with government guidelines, on 20 July 2020. It was announced she had married the day after, in a BP press release.

Maybe all 3. She seems sensible, auctioning that horrible hat, etc. I’d have wanted a small restaurant do in her position.

Yes, I understand that Charles would have been legally ok to keep funding Harry as he had been based on the rules of the Duchy but because he’d been releasing his accounts each year and was specifically naming that part of the budget as funding the office/household of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, I think he personally saw it as ‘wages’ for his adult sons in return for their work. So in his mind no work, no wage.

I think Anne is a good example of finding a way to balance the optics and a more regular life. Queen bought her a working estate and she’s managed it as such - it’s allowed her to provide housing to her children and grandchildren.

She likes to keep busy so has always done Royal duties from choice rather than need. She gets travel expenses from the SG and security for royal engagements. I presume she might get a stipend or ‘wage’ from Charles through the Duchy of Lancaster for her working engagements.

Hopefully Louis and Charlotte will find a field of work they can immerse themselves in that they love and find success in, that they can also support George if he needs it later in life but that they don’t need to be ‘on the payroll’ like Andrew and Edward.

And hopefully we the public will lose our prurient interest in what the 'spare' children get up to. I hope W and BP can implement a PR strategy to keep then off the ftont psges of Hello and the rest.

I think the OP has literally lit the blue touch paper and ran

Good to see the normal armchair psychiatrists are out in force again

I admire her resilience given she receives more constant negative and nasty press, media, online comments than very very many people. She's irritating at times but she isn't a mass murderer. On here you would think she was.
She is called every name under the sun. And some of it is quite revolting

Very well said. I’m not an adoring fan of hers but the level of criticism is disproportionate to what she has done. Threads like this just encourage the nastiness frankly.

I thought Beatrice was one of the loveliest brides I have seen. I loved her dress but I think it was her smile that made her look so beautiful. She clearly was a bride who cared more about the marriage than the wedding. I also admired Eugenie for
pass up the opportunity to have a beautiful cathedral length veil in order to show off her scoliosis operation scar. I think that suggests she’s a very grounded person who knows what matters in life.

That’s a really good post & I agree. How have the Yorks produced such well adjusted kids? Were they better parents than press suggests?

As much as I agree Beatrice looked lovely and Eugenie was great, I really don’t think anyone can say either of them are well adjusted, whi they are and what they are like is far from known by the public.

True - but the optics are better so far. Mind you the bar is very low!

Most of that generation are ok though. Zara and Peter seem fine, as seem James and Louise. Harry is the least well adjusted, but also the least academically able. It is not PC to bring that up but it might have impacted how capable he was at managing the complexities of the situation in his own mind and process them. Also trailing behind others in speed of thought wouldn’t help a feeling of exclusion and inferiority.

NormaMajors1992coat · 09/10/2025 13:45

Yes, they mostly seem to live relatively privately, just popping up to support the family when required eg at the carols. And they’ve avoided scandal in the main. Apart from Harry of course, now that he is without the RF PR machine. But then so are the others, and they seem to manage not to come across as entitled whinging arseholes who need constant attention.
