Ouch, that really was awkward. I think Harry was enjoying his moment and wasn't about to let Meghan take the mic but I also think being a charming public figure takes a lot of acting for Harry, it's a role he has to really focus on, so I suspect he was unable to also focus on Meghan at the same time and might not realise that it looks a little like a rebuff.

Her actions are very odd indeed and, given what we've heard about her temperament, I suspect she was very unhappy about this. She certainly wasn't worried about being subtle, was she?!

But why was he surprised to have her there by his side, when he heard them both announced...looked back and saw she was with him... Went on stage and said hello, presumably thinking she was right behind him...

Why would he then act surprised shenwa actually there? Unless she wasn't supposed to say anything? He was surprised she was getting his attention?

Looks-wise, Harry's definitely punching above his weight and he has spent a lot of time going on about her heart attack gorgeousness etc so (even if she ever acknowled to herself in the beginning that he was the much bigger catch in terms of fame and money) she doesn’t now.
And of course he'd have said he loved her first...
She wouldn't have it any other way.

I read it as they were announced and set off together, then M decided to hang back so she could make her own entrance, which H noticed when he glanced back. So when she walked on separately to her own applause, he was irritated and was like "oh, hi - thank you for finally deigning to join me" and wasn't willing to smile and step aside like he was the compere. It definitely didn't look like a happy moment.

I think that’s exactly what happened.

From what I can see, she’s not sure whether she should go up on stage as it’s Harry’s speech. And then the man in the purple jacket goes to her and maybe encouraged her to wave hi to the crowd.

Even in Britain, it's rare to see any of the royals referred to by peerage titles outside of formal settings. Everyone thinks of him as 'Prince Harry', not 'Duke of Sussex', even if the former is his 'highest' title.

But in California, it's bizarre to hear them introduced as 'Duke and Duchess of Sussex'. The applause was rater muted, probably at least in part because nobody had a clue who the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are, but they would have known 'Prince Harry'. My guess is that it was done so that Meghan also had a title. Yes, technically she can call herself 'Princess Henry' but that's cringey even by her standards. So Dook and Dookess it is.

I'm thinking he had his own little roadshow in the UK and enjoyed it.

He's now come back to California and to the usual stuff there with Meghan trying to be in charge constantly - pulling at him, patting his back and now this - a new technique? Delaying? Look at me? It doesn't look a united front. And then the walking off .. weird. I'm thinking her mask that she struggles so hard to hide finally flipped in public. He started without her.
