So apparently this will make the mandleson debacle look like chicken feed.

Urgh have just seen footage of the nonce coming out of the Duchess of Kent’s funeral and sidling up to PW, puffins chest out trying to engage with PW. PW keeps his gaze forwards says one word or two and blanks him, at one point scratching/ wiping his nose.

Yep.

Was about to add we now have him casually adjusting his suit alongside the rest at a historically significant (400 years since a royal attended any Catholic service) funeral.

That thing's going nowhere.

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/09/2025 20:55

This may be cynical @CathyorClaire but I simply don't think there is the will amongst those who who could force Andrew to go to the US. I'm not talking about the Royal family but about those very powerful men who knew Epstein and who are able to stay in the shadow whilst the spotlight is on the royal idiot. If Andrew saw his day in court attention would turn elsewhere.

I don't think it's about shadowy figures with something to hide and undisclosed influence.

It's quite simple.

Extradition order = Unwanted diplomatic incident ahoy.

jumpingthehighjump · 16/09/2025 21:03

The only footage I saw was Sarah gurning. As she always does
Those two are reprehensible

That's very true, I've obviously been online too much today, seeing zebras instead of horses.!

I saw that too. The pair of them disgust me.

The FBI has closed its investigation, and made an announcement in July that no further charges are to be expected. So it’s not a the threat of a diplomatic incident that means no action will be taken against Andrew; no action is being taken against anyone now.

Yes, that would blow things up a bit I think.

CurlewKate · 16/09/2025 23:41

Seeing him at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral today shows how shameless both he and the RF are. Yes, the PofW obviously didn’t interact, but he was still very much there….

Kash Patel, head of FBI is having to face a senate committee or something like it for mismanagement of another matter. So perhaps that will lead eventually to a reversal of the decision made to close down questioning Andrew. If nothing else, a Trump government means nothing is final.

Presently they are busy creating a tremendous diversion from the Epstein papers. They are intent on making Charlie Kirk a martyr. Bondi is saying she going to force business to put up posters for some national wide vigil, or whatever it’s called, remembrance? Deification? of Kirk.

Kirks assignation handed them a big beautiful diversion. May he RIP.

NewAgeNewMe · 17/09/2025 04:21

I’m conflicted @CurlewKate on him being at the funeral. I veer between - It’s a private and not a state event. And he should be allowed to attend funerals.

He’s behind William but William looks to me to be doing his best to ignore him.

I’ve a family member that if I see him at funerals I just don’t interact with him. My family member should also have been behind bars imo, white collar though so completely different.

MrsLeonFarrell · 17/09/2025 08:07

It was a family funeral. I don't see any problem with him being there. Dubious family members go to funerals every day, the only difference here is that photos were taken and published. He is still a member of the family, regardless of what he has or hasn't done.

In some ways of course it would be easier for the family if he had actually been charged and tried. But he hasn't and so here he is, in limbo, spreading awkwardness wherever he goes.

ThePoshUns · 17/09/2025 08:14

I agree it was a family funeral and he has a right to be there. It’s his brass neck I object to, standing front and centre next to PW and KC, he should have respect for them and how his behaviour reflects on them. You could see they weee both uncomfortable being in such close proximity in public to him ( I’m sure in private maybe not so). He could have stayed in the background, left by a side door, but he just can’t. Him and Sarah were roaring with laughter, they have no shame.

Thedom · 17/09/2025 08:27

The two of them are utterly crass.

I do wonder if there is any truth to Epstein being a Mossad agent, of course we will never know, but he and his wealth, and his connections, came out of nowhere.

It’s not like they’re an ordinary family. The optics of him being there at this particular time are terrible and makes it look as if they really, really don’t care. Excluding him would at least have been a gesture of solidarity with Epstein’s victims.

I don't think the optics of him attending a family funeral are terrible. He is supporting a family member he has known for decades.

Have the Epstein victims demanded that he not attend family events? If so I assume that ban is extended to every other man who was friends with Epstein?

I totally agree with this! He and SF should have kept largely out of sight of the cameras. It would have been perfectly possible to do this! Westminster Cathedral has quite a few side entrances.

So he can visit the US without looking over his shoulder?

Maybe he could drop in on his nephew 🙂

To be honest, it looked as if the PofW at least didn’t want his support! And yes, I do think men who have been associated with Epstein the way he has been should keep a very low profile, and not put themselves in positions where they will appear standing next to the future King on worldwide TV.

CathyorClaire · 17/09/2025 09:48

Charmless grabs centre stage at every opportunity.

The royals know this and still they let him.

They clearly don't care what the public think.

Of course he can attend.
But putting himself so prominently within the Royal party and him and his wife grinning like a couple of idiots is really too much

Hoolahoophop · 17/09/2025 10:04

The arrogance of the man is outstanding. The lack of consideration for the family. It disgusts me.

Of course he should be able to attend a relatives funeral. But I dare say many, many people attended without putting themselves front and center. He could have attended without being seen. It just appears he is there for exposure rather than in mourning. Odious man.

I have been one of those people who have thought that while he is morally bankrupt he has never been proven legally guilty of anything. Therefore it is difficult to strike him of his hereditary titles, it opens the door to other Royals having their titles stripped for bad but legal behaviors. He should not and does not represent the crown any longer. But I wish he or someone senior in the family would stop him from using any family gathering to put himself in front of the cameras. It's damaging to the royal family and disgusting to the majority of the British public who they serve.

Watching the arrivals and departures he wasn't prominent. But he was in the number of photos the press chose. Personally I think it would be good if we never had to see his face again but I'm not an Editor.

I caught some Sky news coverage and Andrew and SF were definitely very prominent at the point when everyone was waiting outside the Cathedral to give the late Duchess of Kent a proper send off.

Incidentally, I thought the soldiers from The Royal Dragoon Guards did a marvellous job.
