The royal family
BloomingNerines · 05/09/2025 12:37

That’s very sad news.
May she rest in peace.

bastarddad · 05/09/2025 12:38

RIP.

Mydahliasareshit · 05/09/2025 12:41

One of the very, very good eggs.
Rest well Mrs Kent (as she was known to her pupils in Hull)

LeaAndDer · 05/09/2025 12:42

Lovely lady- RIP

ItsNotMeEither · 05/09/2025 12:43

Awww, she always seemed so lovely.

sittingonabeach · 05/09/2025 12:43

She always seemed so lovely. Never forget her with Jana Novotna

JesseGator · 05/09/2025 12:44

She oozed class and compassion. Glad she had such a long and productive life.

EmpressSisi · 05/09/2025 12:46

Such sad news.

I’ve always had a soft spot for her. She gave up using her HRH later in life, worked as a primary school music teacher, and even gave piano lessons. And, rather wonderfully, she apparently had a soft spot for gangster rap 🤣

I’ve also always loved this photo of her, the Queen, Princess Margaret and Princess Alexandra.

RIP Mrs Kent.

Yes, Mrs Kent, round here. I'm actually genuinely sad to read this news.

WhitstablePearl · 05/09/2025 12:47

And she worked as a Samaritan volunteer too. Exuded peace

JSMill · 05/09/2025 12:53

I always thought she seemed like a very serene person.

LlynTegid · 05/09/2025 13:00

RIP and thoughts for her family.

HawthornLantern · 05/09/2025 13:09

A very lovely lady. May she rest in peace.

MrsLeonFarrell · 05/09/2025 13:10

Nothing to add but may she rest in peace and rise in glory.

allmycats · 05/09/2025 13:14

She was an honorary governor at my school-very popular, especially as she always granted us a half days holiday !
Very down to earth and so genuinely kind. Her example should be followed more closely by other royals,

WhereAreMyAirpods · 05/09/2025 13:18

Just watched the obit on the BBC, a quite remarkable woman who ditched the HRH title and made use of her talents to make the world a better place for children through her music teaching. I hadn't realised she'd lost a child.

Yes, she had suffered badly with her mental health and openly admitted attending a residential facility for six weeks in-patient care in 1976 or so following a full-term stillbirth and subsequent loss of another baby.

As a tennis fan I remember watching her presenting the Ladies’ trophy at Wimbledon for many years.

TheAutumnalCrow · 05/09/2025 13:29

What a wonderful, well-lived life she had. I’m glad her death was peaceful.

Thissickbeat · 05/09/2025 13:29

Her daughter, Lady Helen, was on the news yesterday tea-time talking about Armani as they'd worked together for years. How incredibly sad (and obviously even worse) for her to lose her mother the same day.

Gotback · 05/09/2025 13:31

Lovely, kind & sensitive lady. Rest in peace, Mrs Kent.

Evenstar · 05/09/2025 13:32

My family are from Yorkshire as she was, my DGM and DM were very fond of her, she was a good person, may she RIP.

One of the few good ones, with a genuine interest in public service and a strong work ethic. Her cool beauty and effortless elegance are less important than her character but are still worth a mention.

BurntBroccoli · 05/09/2025 13:36

is she standing?

I remember being mesmerised by her as a child in the 1970s. Stunningly beautiful, effortlessly stylish and endlessly compassionate. And totally down to earth. She was latterly overshadowed by Diana (as all the royals were), but for me, she was the OG.
