Am I right in thinking that one year, she wanted to invite a young girl from one of her charities to sit with her in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. The authorities refused, saying it was against the rules or something.
That prompted her resignation from her role.

I think it was the son of Philip Lawrence, the murdered Head Teacher. And yes, they refused it.

The 12 year old son of a recently deceased friend. I believe she received a curt letter, so never sat in the Royal Box again.

The Duchess of Kent was more royal than the royals, may she rest in peace, a real lady.

That's appalling! On what grounds did they refuse? Whoever made that decision should be hanging their head in shame.

Really sad news. I loved her rocking the Erdem dress and trainers at one of the Royal weddings. Seemed like she was universally admired and quite rightly so from all the lovely anecdotes. RIP.
