I'm glad I read the book. I've seen Lownie in several interviews and read his other books. I find him credible.

I was just sickened by the unending pursuit of money and sex, and the unending spending. The lives of OA and SF came across, to me, like hellish existences. It was like reading about the aristocracy from another era, like the sons of George III.

I hope their fun will now come to a sudden end and that we won’t have to see them or hear about them again (some hope, knowing the media).

I’m glad they’ve been exposed but I still think Lownie is a simpering creep! Wouldn’t want to meet him.I prefer the combative, uningratiating, robust manner of Tom Bower!

Ladedahlia · 24/08/2025 09:43

I wonder if SF will be at Sandringham this Xmas?

Some hope, knowing them, more like.

Andrew and Sarah will never ever give up an opportunity to be photographed alongside anyone from the royal family.

On the Epstein side of it, interesting that Sarah was the one who pushed Andrew and Epstein together. And despite it being reported she only took £15,000 from Epstein, there are various sources who have said it was more like £2M.

jumpingthehighjump · 24/08/2025 09:58

Oh, and Andrew and Sarah are up on the Balmoral Estate invited by Charles. So support for them still.

Yep. So outrageous.

MrsLeonFarrell · 24/08/2025 10:16

I think that Charles invites them partly because of their children. Lots of families struggle with how to react to members who have been accused of dreadful things. I'm not excusing Charles, just saying that he is not alone in having difficulty knowing what to do.

Personally I would want Andrew to go to church with the family purely in the hopes he actually learnt something about repentance but I realise that not everyone would do that. But I would make it clear that he is not to interact with the public. I do think he should be stripped of all his orders, like the Garter. Everyone else who is hit by scandal loses public honours so why shouldn't he, plus it removes the problem of his turning up at events in them.

Mylovelygreendress · 24/08/2025 10:56

They are not staying in the castle as Andrew usually would .
i don’t think there will be any photos of them with The King and Queen .

That's interesting.

I've always said £15k seems like a rather paltry sum for a prince to get so exercised about he'd look to a shark like Epstein to pay it.

£2m looks far more like the kind of Fergienomics we've now seen spilled out.

C3 picking up where Mummy left off in the two fingers department then 🙄

Either they have no clue about optics or they simply don't care.

I know which one I think it is.

Yes, that's why I said they were on the Balmoral estate !

But they still have been invited up there

Love 'Fergienomics'... that sums it up!

Apparently, it comes from more than one source that it was millions. Given her financial situation at the time, it was hardly likely to be £15K, I'm sure Andrew could've stumped up that much back then.

Of course she did her usual Fergie-speak about what a gigantic error she made blah blah blah

My point was that he has been demoted from the actual castle . Still don’t think he should be there at all.

Thank you for this. You make sensible points. As far as I know every service of the C of E has a prayer of confession in it, usually near the beginning of the service, and you can never tell what other people are making of it when you are busily saying it yourself. If Andrew goes to an early communion service at Sandringham or to a later Matins he won't get far before he has to confess whatever his sins are to his Maker. The C of E teaches, as does the RC and the non-conformists, that story when Jesus challenges people to cast the first stone at a woman who is regarded as being a sinner. I do think it's difficult for Charles to walk a line.
What you say about Andrew not interacting with members of the public is interesting. Of course I have seen the footage of him going to talk to members of the crowd - 2 years ago, I think, but as I wasn't standing near them I'll never know whether he made the first move or whether they called out something like, "Merry Christmas, Sir" first. He could cut down the acknowledgement to a lift of the hand.

Not sure how much of a demotion it is, given that Charles & Diana chose to stay at Craigowan Lodge when they went up to Balmoral.

Luddite26 · 24/08/2025 11:30

I think the very calculated move on taking on the late Queen's dogs after her death gave them a bit longer in the inner circle!

I hope William has the balls to boot them out at least.

HappySummerDays · 24/08/2025 11:48

Add in her nonsensical comments that QE2 speaks to her through the dogs.
Scraping the barrel there.

I agree with you about 15k to be a sum you wouldn't get embroiled with the likes of Epstein for . I read in the AL book it was the first downpayment to pay an employee to whom she owed nearly £80k . But I'd bet a guinea to a pint of oranges it was more.

I imagine that Andrew, as the late monarch’s son, is entitled to go to Balmoral whether other family members want him to or not.

I’m pretty certain that KC Does NOT want them there after the scandal but actually commanding his obnoxious brother to depart won’t be as easy as pps imagine. (Like evicting him from Royal Lodge). If he’s staying somewhere on the estate and has bypassed Charles there may be nothing he can realistically It’s not the sixteenth century.

I find Bower v odd. He said some worthwhile things in Revenge. But he seems obsessed with Meghan and to believe the ',brazen hussy' has much more power than she actually does. He said he wanted to 'expose what she will do from her new and extreme level of power'. I know she has had a bad effect on the Commonwealth, but I really don't think she is the massive threat ge seems to think she is. Most people just laugh at her, esp after nadirs like the twerk incident.

I really wouldn't call a man 'simpering' and 'ingratiating' who is brave enough to touch the Mountbatten paedophilia evidence & Epstein & Edward VIII's Nazi support get monitored by intelligence services. Bower has not put himself in any such risky positions, because his stuff on Meghan was no such dynamite in the UK.

I hope you’re right. But I suppose you could argue that PA’s and SF’s doings are just a local embarrassment and won’t have much impact abroad, whereas M&H’s global campaign has damaged the UK internationally, and especially in the Commonwealth. And other people will have to pick up the pieces.

You really can't mean this. PA and SF's doings are not just a local embarrassment. I am about 75% through the book and it is far far worse than I could even begin to imagine. I am absolutely taken aback
Andrew was roving round the world going against everything that was being recommended to him by Dept of Trade, by UK Trade & Investment bureau, by Ministers, by Ambassadors, Embassy staff and more.

Even when he was sacked from his TradeEnvoy role he still carried on calling himself a 'Special Representative'. And carried on chartering private planes continually at the taxpayers expense and visiting Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Qatar, UAE numerous times. Often these visits were kept from the Court Circular because he was a fixer for foreign consortiums and taking backhanders left right and centre. He was often hosting dinners at Buckingham Palace and being paid for it!
And you ought to read the chapter on David Rowland and Banque de Havilland. And read about the shady companies he set up in the name of Andrew Inverness in tax free havens. One of which was for Qataris to gain access to Charles. And he worked out how to operate 'under the radar' with the help of Rowland.

Just a 'local embarrassment'? Really?????

And I haven't even touched on Sarah which is almost worse! So much money given to charities that she set up and her keeping most of it. And her grifting is something else

Anything harry and meghan has done pales into complete insignificance compared to Andrew & Sarah. I am relating about 1% of what they got up to from the book as you haven't and won't read it.
But you really can't make a sweeping statement like this without actually having the facts before you.
I get it that you don't like the author but still

My sympathies are with harry and meghan because the grifting and appalling behaviour of A&S is far far more than anything they have done at all. And they must know this.

Blimey. Andrew’s doings are far from local-he was behaving appallingly around the world while representing the UK. That must have impacted on the UK’s image. I honestly don’t think H&M have the power and influence to create any sort of stir internationally.

Well, I would think so too, but do we know this? H & M’s (later retracted) allegations did understandably cause waves in the Commonwealth.

But the nature of A’s and SF’s behaviour is revelations, financial and sexual, not allegations of racism by the RF. I think they should be poked eternally with a hot toasting fork personally, but are you really saying that the world has taken notice in the same way? It isn’t an internationally syndicated interview.
