That’s why these boards are so depressing. I’ll-informed people with dogmatic views which you often discover are based on mistaken assumptions.

Groan. These people have a vote.

Yes sorry about that and I do like Jeremy Corbyn as well - but if you find them depressing then step away. It does feel good to do things in the real world with real people rather than argue or otherwise with a collection of random strangers on the internet.

I find it worrying that some people actually belief KC has legislative powers, or that the RF control "the media". It's not one person, it's many. It's very common on here.

It’s as depressing and sad as Harry who grew up in the royal family thinking his father could change the law to please him!

IMO, it would be in loco dei - dei, as the genitive of deus for “in the place of god”? In loco parentis - parentis is the genitive form of parens nominative singular?

Yes, missed out the preposition “in” as concentrating on the cases.

(Nothing like a good classical discussion on a Sunday morning!)

I know! Or - get this - he didn't understand it was a hierarchy!
I'd find it comical but unfortunately it's had a terrible impact.
Ignorance + arrogance+ entitlement. That's Harry, and he's caused a lot of damage.

CoffeeCantata · 10/08/2025 10:47

vera99 · 10/08/2025 10:13

Please do explain.

Happy to help.

More than once on this thread you have declared that you make moral judgements about people, particularly in the sphere of sexual behaviour. Yet your posts display a really unappetising pleasure in salacious gossip and a glee in unsavoury revelations. I've noticed this and I find it distasteful.

We would probably agree 100% on the fact that such people as PA and Fergie need to be exposed and, I would think, suffer some sort of consequences. That's not at issue. I'm not defending them in any way.

But you go beyond that, I think. It's all horrible. Horrible for their victims, for their children (disgusting sexual revelations about your parents are traumatic, however privileged you are) and horrible for the members of the RF who are left to carry on in the face of it. I doubt KC or W & C have facilitated anything that A and F have done, so they have my sympathy too.

While it's important for Lownie to expose wrong-doing I stop short of being comfortable with some of the other things he's included. I happen to think that if PP was having an affair, so what? It's none of our business, yet you think it is. I think he just couldn't resist adding in that little spicy bit of gossip and I don't like it.

I don't parade my morality around or claim to be religious (I'm not) but I can spot enjoyment of people's misery when I see it.

And I'm someone who doesn't like H & M, but actively hope they stay together for their own and their children's sakes. Just because I don't like them doesn't mean I wish unhappiness on them.

Why do you like Jeremy Corbyn?

Because he is an honorable man who has spent his whole life campaigning for the underdog in society and fighting against injustice. He is free of personal corruption and genuinely likes people and people like him in return. Since being ousted from power, he has continued to do what he has done his whole life: campaign tirelessly. He is genuinely loved by his constituents, who return him to Parliament each time. He is the natural heir to Tony Benn, who was similarly endowed and he is a fierce democrat that believes change should come from the ballot box.

They help people to understand that a better world is possible one that isn’t ruled by greed, but by peaceful cooperation, for the many, not the few.

And he has been slanderously pilloried by many precisely because of those views and the popularity he has among so many.

Anyway I don't want to derail the thread more than I already have.

Thanks, @CoffeeCantata
Clear and well said. I sincerely hope that Andrew faces justice, particularly for those girls and women involved in this whole sordid mess. I hope the financial irregularities of both he and Sarah come to light.
I don't see the point in allegations of affairs by people who are dead. Plus, nasty gossip about W&C why?

Yes, particularly with wild claim that the offices of his father and brother gave out false information to the press about him. How vile is that accusation of Harry's? which of course, is one of the many things which have gained currency.

I totally agree with you re Corbyn. I'm old, and my very adult DCs feel exactly the same.

Who has been impolite? It's been a discussion, which vera has willingly been part of, and indeed posted some challenging points. I think it's fair enough if people challenge her as much as she challenges them, don't you?

CurlewKate · 10/08/2025 11:03

As I said earlier, I do think that exploring Andrew’s family background is significant- so I do see why PP’s possible infidelities are important. If his parents were living a double life (presenting as a representation of faith, duty and probity) it could go some way to explain his own relationship with the truth.

Oh, and while the RF does not, of course, control the press, it does have some influence over what is published and when.

No, they don't have "influence". Largely because there is no such thing as "the press" in the UK. There are different owners, different editorial stances and different approaches. If they had any "influence" at all, none of those shit stories about KC and Camilla would ever have been published.
This is part of the weird claims that somehow KC is all powerful. News flash: he isn't.

OlympicWomen · 10/08/2025 11:11

Also, @jumpingthehighjump , if posts are offensive, please report them to MNHQ.
Also, highlight them to us so that we can report them as well.

He doesn't appear to be doing any mainstream TV interviews, I have seen him interviewed on a Royal gossip youtube channel,, interestingly he doesn't come across as gossipy, I watched some of an interview on Kinsey Scofield (against my better judgement, had to turn off as she has got to be the worst 'interviewer' ever), one of the few times he did manage to get a word in, he said he had three interviews in the US cancelled after Harry made representations to the channels, I think he must be blacklisted in the UK also, lets see if he will be on GMTV next week. But interesting that Harry has that kind of influence in the US, if its true it was Harry who blocked them.

i really hope the book delves more into the Trade Envoy disaster and his links with the Chinese spy, will be cover more of Sarah and Andrew selling access. That is the real meaty stuff.

Do we really believe the channels didn’t interview AL because of Harry ? Remember he couldn’t stop South Park being shown .
I would have thought if more likely that the interviews were cancelled because the whole Andrew / Epstein stuff is a bit too close to home for Trump , Clinton etc .
But what do I know 🤷‍♀️

I will answer what posts I want to, and if that doesn't include you... well, that's my choice isn't it?! Freedom of speech and all that 🤣

p.s. I haven't used the word 'offensive'. You did.

Fair enough. I don’t agree, but let many flowers grow.

You may not agree with an opinion, your choice, however, it's always worthwhile to check the facts. We do have a very varied press in the UK. If you read the newspaper headlines for any particular day, you'll find significant variables.
They are not under the "influence" (sic) of the RF.
They print what will garner interest and get the clicks.
