this thread was started by me to discuss the excerpts from Andrew lownies book! .
for everyone to discuss regardless of their background or particular opinion on it.
it wasn’t set up as a crusade for republicans or those in support of the monarchy ( although both opinions are welcome) .
you are welcome to discuss and share your opinions but they are no more valid or relevant than any other poster on here.

Yes, in fact the silly labels "royalist/republican" are pointless and add nothing to the discussion. I am interested in what is revealed and what will happen next.

I agree we’ve digressed a bit. If we can avoid personal attacks which I hope I do unless provoked then we can get back on track. That said, you might be pleased to know I’m growing weary of this; many here are long-term posters, far more invested and with greater fortitude than I can possibly summon. I salute your collective indefatigability!

Yes, start by not applying inaccurate labels to posters, based on no evidence whatsoever.

It's a strange one about PP and Susan de Barrantes. I find it difficult to believe, and hope that Lownie isn't just trawling for gossip. He's surely got enough to damn Andrew without this.

Some years ago I read quite a juicy book called "Fergie Confidential". It did not paint a flattering picture. She was portrayed as greedy and foolish and always trying to get freebies. She was constantly in debt, which is always appealing to those who wish to exploit. Seems that they did.

I don’t know much about Susan Barrantes at all so just looked her up, she was certainly very attractive in her time, I had no idea she was decapitated in a head on collision, how awful.

Poor woman, yes she went off to Argentina with a polo player when her daughters were young. Similar situation to Diana, really.

Definitely. I’m not a republican but I deplore PA’s and SF’s disgusting, corrupt behaviour and it should be exposed. My hope is that it will accelerate their expulsion from the royal sphere and that lessons will be learned by the RF.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with being labelled a Republican. It’s a label I happily apply to myself. I do agree that you don’t have to be a Republican to find A’s behaviour hideous-you just have to be a decent human being. You would, however, have to be a very hard core Royalist to defend him! I do know a couple I think might-but I’m scared to ask…..!

It was certainly in circulation as gossip at the time. There is a reason Jilly Cooper chose polo as the setting for one of her books!
