Derail alert

Yep. Generally speaking engaging with bridge dwellers isn't worth it.

Back to the loathsome Andrew. The Mail is continuing to run articles, I hope someone archived them because I'm not giving them money!

Oh have I missed a new one for today @MrsLeonFarrell?
I was distracted, I do need to pop off and do a few things, if I get a chance I will look and attempt a link.

Hey, if we are going down the derail track, Meghan just wished herself a very gushing birthday wish from her Asever account (the one she recently announced she managed personally and a company which has all of 2 employees, as per LinkedIn,).

Lovely Jubbly.

apologies for the derail intermission

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 04/08/2025 19:08

I read that Daily Mail is printing favourable Harry/ Meghan stories, so negative PA conjecture may be part of their new pro- Sussex strategy

MrsLeonFarrell · 04/08/2025 19:00

Extremely distasteful.

Best ignored, surely, MrsLF?

These claims gain oxygen by being engaged with so personally I'd rather not

I don’t expect the RF will be sending best wishes

Yes I agree, best ignored. I just gave into the urge to defend the late Queen. Back to Andrew for me now. All this really couldn't happen to a nicer chap.

No need, she has it sorted 🙂

I get the feeling that there is more to come out about PA and Epstein
He really is the gift that keeps giving

The fact that Andrew doesn't look like his siblings proves nothing. I think they're all unattractive looking. At least KM and MM have improved the gene pool.

Ooh now that’s harsh!

But yes, in the days when royals and aristocrats only married each other it did sometimes lead to unfortunate looks.

I wouldn’t be quite as mean as that, though- they’re OK - just not Instagram-gorgeous, as is the case with most of us.

Your last sentence sums the situation up perfectly.

I’m trying to convince myself I’m not vindictive, but I really hope Andrew finally gets his just deserts . He’s got away with things for far too long.

I'm sure there is but I would rather effort was also put into investigating all the powerful men hiding in Andrew's shadow.

Ah…you see, I thought that was petulance, naivety, dimness and lack of self-awareness. I remember it well and it was might cringeworthy. But it didn’t and doesn’t strike me as being of the same order as Andrew’s behaviour. Silly little Edward thought he’d done a cracking job and wanted the journalists’s approval.

I remember watching the Windsor Castle fire on the news while it was still burning and Andrew was bellowing orders to the staff about rescuing artefacts etc (I assume they were staff - or maybe he thought he could tell the firefighters what to do?!) in the most obnoxious way - it really made an impression on me. I was only young but I thought ’ What a horrible, horrible ungrateful man - why doesn’t he get stuck in and help them?’

I’ve always thought these two were different types and Edward has always seemed a bit pathetic, with a terrible charisma deficit, but basically a fairly decent man.

Yes possibly. And to his credit he's learnt from it, which Andrew clearly hasn't.

Definitely, hope they all get flushed out. Trump springs to mind, but he is well protected

There is a very good thread running at the moment with a heck of a lot of links, court papers and information on Epstein. If you are interested.
(Not sure if it's against guidelines to link another thread so I won't)

Anyway, it's in Politics and it's called 'Here are all the Epstein files so far'.

Warning it's a lot of reading!

elessar · 04/08/2025 19:35

Honestly the more I read about Andrew, the more I can understand why Harry was so flabbergasted to be told no to his half in half out proposal.

After all, he’d seen the model of uncle Andrew on official ‘government’ business for years and years using it as a cover to line his own pockets, doing dodgy deals with god knows who.

I'm the last person in the world to sympathise with Harry, but I can certainly see why he might feel hard done by at being firmly told he can’t sell branded tea-towels, when PA was selling state secrets to Russian and Chinese spies!

that’s not to say for a second that I think the late queen made the wrong call with H&M by the way, just that I think it’s utterly astounding, and quite frankly appalling and Andrew was allowed to continue unchecked for so many years.

I know the RF can only do so much now, but I would dearly like this to be the nail in the coffin for seeing Andrew in public ever again, even at private family events. I think continuing to associate with him even in a private capacity is just going to be so damaging for them all.

CurlewKate · 04/08/2025 19:38

Just in passing-there is a brilliant episode of The Rest is Entertainment podcast about It’s a Royal Knockout. Do not listen on public transport. Learn from me.

Indeed.

As I said some time ago on another thread, I have long been convinced that Andrew is a useful scapegoat for some people, a helpful distraction from some very involved but more powerful men.

MrsLeonFarrell · 04/08/2025 19:24

I sincerely hope they are all flushed out too. I think the problem is the difference between all the other rich, powerful men and Andrew is that they are probably mostly self made, which means they have a semblance of foresight, intelligence and know that what they were doing was wrong and knew they had to go to great lengths to cover it up. Andrew is stupid, entitled, and actually only had the British RF covering for him, which holds little sway with anyone else especially as he's nowhere near being Head of State. I doubt even Epstein or his disgusting cronies actually enjoyed his company but could see his craven stupidity from space so used him as a useful idiot.

jumpingthehighjump · 04/08/2025 19:42

elessar I agree.
It just seemed that the rules didn't apply for Andrew and he exploited it for decades.
I know posters have said he's unintelligent or stupid, but he certainly managed to work the system to his advantage didn't he....

His Wiki page is an eye opener. There has been controversy, back handers and dodgy deals for nigh on thirty years.

And this...

jumpingthehighjump · 04/08/2025 19:44

Ooops missed what I was going to add
In 2000, Lownie says, Trump and Andrew attended Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party. Trump was quoted as saying, “Andrew’s not pretentious. He’s a lot of fun to be with.”
Then Lownie writes, “Shortly afterwards, and clearly good friends, Trump and Andrew were overheard at an event to discuss Trump’s plans for a golfing complex in Scotland, talking entirely about ‘p---y,’ with the American producing a list of masseuses for the prince.”

CurlewKate · 04/08/2025 19:48

Another brief sideline-if you google Hanoverian features, you can see some lovely horses..

MrsLeonFarrell · 04/08/2025 18:57

The siblings don't even look like each other particularly. But they all look like their ancestors and relatives. Andrew has a very Hanovian face and stature.

I think Andrew and Beatrice both resemble Queen Victoria .
