Other than the lineage changing.
It would have to go via Charlotte or Louis or eeeeeek Archie or Lillliiiibbbettttt

Not necessarily. Rules change all the time.
It's all hypothetical anyway.

It’s not really a problem though, is it? It’s what’s always happened.

George IV’s only heir died, and since he hated his wife—they separated just weeks after the wedding—he had no other legitimate children. The crown passed to his brother, who also had no heirs, so it fell to their other siblings to marry and produce one. That’s how we ended up with Queen Victoria. So really, a shift in lineage isn’t always a bad thing (just look at Edward VIII abdicating and how great a wartime king George VI turned out to be).

Personally, I think Charlotte would make a brilliant Queen if George ever decided he didn’t want the job.

she is 10, how can you work that out .

Quite! That's some assumption.

jumpingthehighjump · 02/08/2025 09:43

I don't think we know what the Wales children's characters are like from the little snippets we see here and there. The media writes what it imagines and what will serve as clickbait.
George shy, Charlotte firm and knows what to do, Louis ... I hesitate to promulgate what is said about that lovely little lad.

We have no idea who would be suited to be Monarch

From the snippets we’ve seen, she already seems very clued up on protocol and ceremony—so much so that she’s been seen guiding George through it. She comes across as knowledgeable and confident in those settings. That’s all I can really say, as I don’t know her personality, but based on her public appearances, she does seem very self-assured and knowledgeable, which is lovely to see and will do her well when she’s older.

jumpingthehighjump · 02/08/2025 09:58

I bet they have a right scrap when they get home with George saying "Charlotte, for goodness sake stop telling me what to do all the time!!"

I honestly think the Royal Family — and “the men in grey suits” — have learned the hard way not to interfere with personal relationships. Edward VIII abdicated for love. The whole mess with Charles and Diana happened because Camilla was deemed an unsuitable choice of bride. Even now, people still vilify her as “the other woman,” despite the fact that she and Charles have shared a long, stable, and loving relationship for decades.

Even with Harry, many of his friends and family felt he was rushing into things. But despite the concerns, the Queen ultimately supported his decision to marry Meghan, likely understanding that trying to control someone’s choice in love rarely ends well.

If George were gay, I’d like to believe the institution would have evolved by then. Either they’d change the rules around heirs and surrogacy, or the line would continue through Charlotte or Louis. Love and authenticity matter far more to the public now than outdated traditions — and I think the monarchy knows it has to adapt if it’s going to survive.

I honestly don't, Meghan is the perfect example. Pretended to accept a black American, and actually the tabloids crucified her.

Mylovelygreendress · 02/08/2025 10:31

The tabloids crucified her behaviour not her race .

Surely he must reap some benefits from the taxpayer?

He has certainly been known to reap substantial benefits from the uncontested tender for the Patron's Lunch awarded by TLQ's Patron's Lunch charity:

Personally I'd be quite interested in knowing the story behind XF Medical. The firm he established to provide Covid testing which appears to have been dissolved via compulsory strike off just eighteen months later.

Certain groups often overlook the fact that both Catherine and Camilla were crucified by the press — including horrific intrusions and invasions of privacy. But they kept their heads down and got on with it.

The late Queen supported Harry’s decision to marry the person of his choosing. Unfortunately, that individual ultimately proved unsuited to the demands and responsibilities of royal life.

Agree, but no where near the same

Meghan got excellent coverage at first.

You don’t think it’s bad that Catherine had her phone hacked? That paparazzi zoomed in on her and took photos of her sunbathing nude on private property? Thankfully, the British press refused to publish them — but that didn’t stop international outlets from plastering them everywhere.

Or what about the time a radio station prank-called the hospital while she was being treated, trying to get her medical information? A nurse ended up taking her own life as a result.

And more recently, the “Where’s Kate?” frenzy on social media spilled into mainstream news, pressuring her into announcing her cancer diagnosis on a global stage.

I don’t like comparing suffering — everyone’s experiences with press intrusion have been awful. But personally, I feel Catherine has endured some of the worst treatment, especially considering how private and dignified she’s always tried to be.

No, the behaviour towards Catherine before her marriage (groups of photographers following her, upskirting) was such that today it would result in a prison sentence.

Well Peter and his fiancée do not ( and will not have ) , titles to monetise . They haven’t sold their story for millions . They haven’t criticised the RF and told a pack of lies about them .
There is absolutely no comparison and I have no idea why H and M are relevant to Peter Phillips getting engaged .

Quoting to repeat this!
apples and oranges!

Change the goalposts to suit your narrative 👏🏼

Why have you shoe horned m and h into a thread that has literally nothing to do with them?
are you deliberately trying to cause an argument?

She has indeed, thank you for that clear summary. Credit to her that she has remained dignified throughout.

It's not a competition about who got it worse.

All I know is, Peter Phillips has had a relatively easy ride given he is male. And after flogging milk to the chinese with a nauseating advert showing palaces and footmen. And his money making with hampers on the Mall... his company was paid £750,000. Luckily his ice skating rink didn't come off
