I’m somewhat fascinated by the instagram following of Kate’s former stylist and personal assistant of 15 years.

Understandable to monitor fashion blogs like whatmeghanwore but what’s the interest in Heather Dorak or Daniel Martin?

She even followed Meghan and asever before hastily unfollowing - why hide now?

Perhaps part of her new luxury fashion consultancy is keeping tabs on in-laws friends and associates.

I'm going to elaborate on this: I volunteer for an org that involves me compiling risk assessments pretty much every week. There is no way a charity would risk assess a celebrity/patron/untrained "civilian" doing a publicity stunt in a live minefield and decide it was ok to go ahead with it. Not unless they were incompetent. If the celebrity wanted to go walking near lie mines, he/she would have to sign all manner of legal waivers on liability. And even then, I wouldn't risk assess it as doable.

It was perfectly safe , this was the third time harry has done this , it was cleared before Diana walked, it was cleared again before Harry’s first walk, then checked and cleared before the second and obviously yes it was checked before this walk!

I do wish Harry wouldn't replicate the Diana moments. It's really not healthy. He could support the cause without the photoshoot.

I would like to say to him, regarding Diana: let it go, let her go, except obviously for big anniversaries, and the 30th anniversary of her death will be along in 2027.

Being charitable I’d say - remember her yourself in private. Being cynical I’d say: stop dragging the poor woman’s corpse around for attention, sympathy and dollars.

I suspect there’s also the undertone of “Look, William - I’m a better son than you!”.

Vespanest · 17/07/2025 08:31

The video from Halo is clearly not letting it go. Diana was a different era, Harry is walking a very thin line between emphasising the cause and white saviour. Especially in the video.

20 years since the war in Angola ended. Why are there still mines? How much money in overseas aid has been pumped into Angola via orgs like HALO? Notice all Harry's references to "conservation areas". You can be sure African Parks is sniffing around with its green colonialist agenda for these areas. Keep them "mined" for as long as possible so their original ownership falls by the wayside, and the government can sell off the land to the highest bidder.

He's stuck in the past. He tries to live in the perceived glow of his mother. Has he nothing new to offer?

PigeonDress · 17/07/2025 09:17

He also, always, uses his mother whenever some criticism is coming his way. It's no surprise to me that the summit photos were leaked and then he's straight off to Angola invoking her memory.

He's so brave - it's too dangerous for his wife 🙄

I assumed both of these were to deflect attention from the story about payments to witnesses and/or anything that Tyler Perry might be about to reveal. Poor Harry - the Angola thing just looks so meh and HALO itself seems a bit murky. It doesn’t seem to have gained much traction as a story.

Apparently Angola is less dangerous than Nigeria!

prelovedusername · 17/07/2025 09:54

I find this walk very distasteful actually. When Diana did it there was a point to it, in the context of her visit. Of course the minefield had been cleared but it was an iconic moment and had impact.

Harry repeating it is just a stunt. He is not at risk in any way. He’s not breaking new ground. How can him doing this walk be beneficial to the children killed or horrifically injured by landmines?

If he’s sincere about highlighting the work of the Halo Trust he needs to find his own way of doing so.

Is it waste though?

It was a great spectacle which millions across the world enjoyed. It brought in loadsamoney for the broadcast rights and did great things for tourism.

And these events employ hundreds of specially skilled people from musicians to caterers to florists to designers and dressmakers. I think of royalty as a kind of industry which employs all kinds of these specialists- wages are a big part of the cost you object to, but I don’t see it as a waste.

Probably a discussion for another thread but I think the RF juggernaut generally is a waste of scarce public resources and it does less in boosting tourism than people realise.

I don't suppose an elected leader would dare expect the country to underwrite the costs of their family knees-ups.

Subject: Thank you
Kat,
It was nice catching up this morning on Angola. Thank you for taking the time. As promised, here is the article I mentioned about the all-female demining team in Angola. I’ve also attached the Financial Times article from today about Angola seizing a Chinese stake in one ofthe big diamond mines in the country. Also, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) announced today that it has accepted Angola’s application to join EITI. This is a big deal. The opacity ofAngola’s oil sector is in fact the reason EITI was created in 2003. The fact that Angola has been accepted as a member 19 years later is a testament to its commitment to tackling corruption.

I mentioned the International Conservation Caucus Foundation (ICCF). Here is their website. As noted, they do a lot in Angola and often organize codels to the country, including with the HALO Trust. During its annual awards dinner in Washington in September 2021, the ICCF awarded President Louren90 with its Conservation Leadership Award. During his keynote, the President announced Angola would work with African Parks to co-manage the Luengue-Luiana and Mavinga National Parks in Angola. He prominently mentioned the DELTA Act passed years ago by Congress. The President also announced at the dinner that Angola had joined Costa Rica and Gabon in pressing for a fourth protocol on wildlife crime under the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.

Finally, the Embassy of Angola’s twitter feed is a good resource for updates, particularly on engagement with the United States. It can be found here.
Thanks again for your time. We look forward to working with you and the Congresswoman on demining and other issues of importance to Angola and the United States.

Best, Robert

Harry has fingers in all the revenant pies, Halo and African Parks.

Why are women being sent to clear landmines? Some sort of twisted feminist message, clearing up a man made mess? Why aren't they using modern drone technology? Would that be too quick? Are women deemed more subservient and less likely to talk about what they see happening on the ground, when the money men turn up to test for mineral content and make deals about who gets the land?

PigeonDress · 17/07/2025 10:55

Harry travelled to Africa on behalf of African Parks and accompanied by Delaware Senator, Chris Coons, in 2022. Is he really there for his mother's legacy, or to provide assistance to Western governments in controlling the mineral rich Angolan land? Keep telling the old world to self flagellate for their colonialism, while indulge in a bit of modern day colonialism yourself, eh Harry?

Harry 'As Ever' - the classic 'useful idiot' as profiled by many credible geopolitical journalists most notably in The Hill. He's a huge diplomatic risk.

Your last three posts are an example of top class sleuthing @PigeonDress!
as expected any inside information poses more questions than answers ( as usual) but if one intelligent mn poster can find these things, what exactly are journalists doing?

PigeonDress · 17/07/2025 13:19

@jeffgoldblum . I agree, where is the press? I am hoping Tom Bower is looking at Harry's financial, "charitable" and political dealings, and writing a new book. He was at Invictus last year (and famously confronted by SS), so I have hope he's on it.

I hope so too !
but I does seem like h and m are being protected still!
by whom ? I have no idea ! , there is enough shady dealings already out there floating around but still silence.

Definitely a topic in itself! We'd need stats, and I'm sure it's harder to find those than it might sound. We'd need the source to be a disinterested one.
