As per the DM, we are told Meg is using Fairwinds Estate winery for her rose. Sounds nice.
But a Reddit user has discovered, that Fairwinds winery is just a brand under the umbrella of Wine gift shop. They do corporate gifts and print on demand. Oh Meg, as ever

I drink Waitrose rose wine, there’s always something on offer 😁

Are you in the UK then, using Waitrose? I didn't think Meghan was able to ship her As Ever line overseas yet.

I like rose, if i drink wine at all, but never pay more than a tenner. It's so overpriced, like the rest.

Just on this point, not all wine is overpriced. The production costs and tax and duties on each bottle rack up well before there is any actual wine in it.

There are plenty such charts like this indicating how much of the price of a given bottle of wine actually relates to the quality of the wine in the bottle. You can see that the wine itself is only worth 37p in a £5 bottle of wine - but the producers, who grow and manufacture at scale, can produce wine at that price. For a £20 bottle of wine the producer has spent nearly 20 times as much on the actual wine.

Megan’s rosé is priced at more than £20 a bottle so her wine should in theory have cost even more to produce. I have my doubts that mass- producing white-labelling company Fairwinds Vineyard really is up there in terms of production value with other Californian vineyards spending similar on their output. I imagine the high price reflects a high mark up (unsurprisingly, as Fairwinds needs to make a profit, Meghan wants to make a profit and the distributor wants to make a profit).

The last bottle of rose I bought cost 65 dollars but it was very nice and I had spent all afternoon wine tasting🍷

That's all interesting. Mind you when I said that I don't but over priced I was really meaning there's a ceiling I'm prepared to spend on wine. I'm not a connoisseur or much of a drinker.

Quite - Donkeys years ago I read that at the time the basic cost of producing a wine and bottling it & getting it on the supermarket shelf was £3. So if you buy a wine for £3.50 you're getting 50 pence worth of wine - I may have the figures wrong but it was something like that.

We used to buy wine direct from a Spanish supplier pre Brexit. We stopped because it cost too much post free movement of goods ending. If Meghan is shipping overseas to the EU/UK, what are the shipping and import duties amounting to on top of the $90 @tataler ?

Doesn't apply to me, I order to family in the US, who are in and out of the UK regularly.

They have enough luggage allowance to bring a case of wine either them?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 01/07/2025 18:58

I bet they love you asking them to bring over 3 bottles of wine in their luggage.

I would not recommend carrying wine in your suitcase!! Very risky.

Really? Your poor relative is going to have to wrap up 3 bottles of expensive wine and hope it survives a transatlantic trip in hold luggage. How much is that costing them in luggage space? I guess your relative will be fudging the "personal use" C&E allowance, since they are effectively acting as your shipping agent.

Oh just the one, the US fam can keep the other two.

I sincerely hope for her and her wallets sake she is based in the US and not the U.K. or anywhere else !
you can add extra shipping, taxes and tariffs onto that price otherwise!

I think I read on something linked to here that the wine is only for sale in the states.

Ah that’s fair but I’m no kylie fan and bought her wine. The only difference is the annoying shipping time 🤷🏽‍♀️

my sister tried Gordon Ramsays etc

Well no, that's not the 'only difference'.

Out of curiosity I had a look at Kylie's website. There's loads of information about the provenance of the wine, tasting notes, pairing suggestions and the like. Also, you can pick up a bottle for maybe a tenner - or less if there's an offer - while getting the groceries, and knock it back that very evening. If you don't like it, no real harm done.

Quite different from having to pay above the odds to buy multiple bottles of a wine you know nothing about, pay delivery costs and wait around for several days for it to turn up, and in your case, get your relatives to use their entire luggage allowance hauling it across the Atlantic.

All this, just to 'support' a twerking duchess?

I've also had a long awaited outside tap fitted, I may need to get out more, but honestly, the excitement is real 🤣

I get it. I bought a parasol for the garden and have spent more time than I care to mention using the cool wind-up handle to put it up and down. And up and down. And - well, I'm sure you get the idea :)

There’s no need for your level of derision. I think we’ve have had a few fair exchanges. I’ll stop responding to you now.

Well hopefully your one and only bottle - that effectively has cost you $110 for a single bottle you get to consume - survives the journey! And this elaborate arrangement is worth it to you to "support Meghan"? Madness.
