Megs gift shop wine

As per the DM, we are told Meg is using Fairwinds Estate winery for her rose. Sounds nice.
But a Reddit user has discovered, that Fairwinds winery is just a brand under the umbrella of Wine gift shop. They do corporate gifts and print on demand. Oh Meg, as ever

Squaddies are buying 12 bottles, a mutual got 36 😀

Oh really? What's your source?

AtIusvue · 01/07/2025 17:12

Meg is absolutely rinsing these fans.

I just rem that girl who was part of the Tig fan club. She admitted she was a vulnerable teen at the time but hadn’t seemed to have moved on/stuck in arrested development. I’m sure that’s the kind of fan that will be paying $$$s in order to try and feel like she part of something, cult or not.

It’s actually really sad that they can’t see they are having the utter piss taken out of them….and their dollars.

Don’t get the obsession with this couple. Is their business doing some terrible social or environmental harm that deserves condemnation like hundreds of other significant companies? No. Are they exploiting homeless people in Bangladesh. No. Are they using slave factories? No. On the other hand, are they incredible inventors or entrepreneurs? No.

So why the obsession? Ok - they’re marketing bang average “lifestyle” products at top dollar to fools with money - well that’s a pretty sound marketing strategy and one that’s shared by literally millions of business around the world. What’s the big deal.

Guys, a mix of online and in real life friendships. I’m at count 30 now. I think the ones buying 12 are brave 🙃

I’m off-ish I’ll be back for a review (if I do get it lol)

Your posts tend to make me think your review would be of any market standard.

Who are all the online friends?

Weepixie · 01/07/2025 17:16

Exactly. We've paid much more than £30 for bottles of wine over the years, but we've had a special reason to do so, and been able to evaluate the bottle's worth/provenance/quality before handing over our cash

I very rarely drink but when I do it’s a gin and tonic or red wine, St Emillion, and when I do buy it (when I’m in the Uk) I’m happy to pay a very decent amount for it. But there’s no way I’d spend 30 pounds on someone’s vanity project wine even though it would cost me about 35 pounds for a bottle of Mateus Rose in one of the special shops we have in my part of the world.

I think the ones buying 12 need their bumps felt, but hey.

Why do you think it sold out, you didn't think it would yesterday?

I was thinking initial quantities in the hundreds of thousands, now I reckon it was tens of thousands to establish demand.

Is that what she did with the spread and sprinkles ? They sold out so why hasn't she restocked? I'm just perplexed at what her strategy is.

The 'selling out' trick isn't going to 'establish demand' when everyone knows it's just drop shipping generic products. She might have got away with it once, but when every single product immediately 'sells out' then noone other than a cult member will be arsed.

In short: Yes.

The As Ever business involves them buying mass produced, white label goods. By definition, these are bad for the environment, using the cheapest possible raw ingredients flown in from all over the place, and are UPF heavy. They also take private jets a lot in the course of their other business dealings, eg, Harry earns $1m a year reputedly working for Travlyst and telling the public how to travel environmentally consciously, and yet he's flown on private jets consistently these last 5 years as well as making very short-lived and unnecessary long hall travel journeys.

Whether they are using "slave factories" depends on the provenance of the white label goods they are selling. For example, Meghan has failed (in breach of FDA regulations, I believe) to label her Hibiscus Tea showing the provenance of the Hibiscus. However, we know from the Republic of Tea's (the supplier) website and identical product information that the tea ones from Nigeria. I'll be willing to bet a few quid that it is not that ethically grown or picked by well paid workers. In addition, the handbag business in which Meghan is an investor has been shown to be exploiting Rwandan weavers, paying them 50p a day for bags that sell for hundreds.

Harry's other interest, African Parks, has been investigated and shown to be brutally exploiting and attacking native Baka people in order to further the aims of that company - safari travel for rich westerners.

They do all of the above using their royal titles. Would you look away from what Prince Andrew has been up to in his dodgy and unethical financial dealings? If not, why look away from these two?

Profhilodisaster · 01/07/2025 17:06

I'm sure that's what she's after but it's all so fake, unless she genuinely has sold thousands and thousands any savvy business person will look at the books and see exactly what she's up to.

I believe she is probably labouring under the idea that her name and ability to sell out things ( 🙄) is worth the money!
wanting and getting are of course two different things!

BasiliskStare · 01/07/2025 17:22

I've never sold a business but my 2 pennyworth. She may want a $1bn buyout , but I can't see this working. Someone is going to want units sold , projected unitsales / forecasts - probably for this kind of product quarterly - targets achieved , projected market share , sustained YoY growth , costs and scalability etc , and to be clear on who already has a stake in the company and how much,. A few sellout drop ships won't cut it with hard nosed investors & their accountants. They tend to be I think a bit more spreadsheet rather than instagram orientated 😊

I can't see why if she really wants to sell this business , which I suspect she does , like some of her friends / interviewees , she isn't ramping up production for steady sales . By all means bin the ones which don't work and by all means put in some seasonal stuff (if it can be done with the same infrastucture ) But everything's in jars or packets or bottles so most of it must a have a long shelf life or can be quickly topped up if demand is too great for projected sales. Unless this is just the hype bit and they're measuring how many orders they couldn't fulfil - but I thought they were going to do this last time.

I don't know if anyone watches The Gilded Age. Mrs Russell is desperate for her daughter to marry the English Duke because she will then have power, influence , society and the world at her feet. At no point was overpriced spread or wine mentioned. How times change 😂

That’s a risk she’s taking 🥴

If I like, I repurchase if possible, otherwise I don’t.

AtIusvue · 01/07/2025 16:58

The fact that they aren’t even shipping until the 9th. So 8 days until the product is even shipped.

Says to me, that the labels will be printed and slapped on the bottles in this time.

Which shows its utter bull about being sold out. It’s a print on demand winery!

8 days is insane.

About 10 years ago M&S let me down very badly and informed me that the gift I ordered for my brother in the UK in October was no longer available (I live abroad) ... on December 22nd. I scrambled to find a gift that could deliver by Christmas (most could not). I eventually found a site that would put a label with your name (or anything else) on bottles of wine. I ordered and they delivered to him 36 hours later on the 24th!

onehorserace · 01/07/2025 17:24

Weepixie · 01/07/2025 16:39

It’s a minimum purchase of 3 bottles. So much for her thinking of her fans who may just be able to purchase the one.

What? What a con !

You really think anyone other than 'squaddies' is going to be sitting by their computer for the next 'drop' of a boring product they can easily get in their local supermarket or order for next day delivery at a fraction of the cost?

Uricon2 · 01/07/2025 17:27

I don't drink still white or rose, would possibly be interested in Tignanello funnily enough, like hefty reds. My DBro in a moment of madness gave me a bottle of Chateau Mouton Rothschild '92 in the late 90s, which was guzzled on Millennium Eve with friends. Distinct creosote note (in a good way) I've noticed on the rare occasions I've drunk really expensive wine.

He was horrified I hadn't "cellared" it for the future. Not having a cellar is a problem there Bro (we have very different lives) but, it's wine? What else is it for.

Candle holder in the bottle now.

Total tangent, but I love The Gilded Age @BasiliskStare ! Do you know the story of Consuelo Vanderbilt? I think the Russell family are based on the Vanderbilts and and the daughter, Gladys, based on Consuelo. The actress playing Gladys looks the image of the real Consuelo.

The fact that her fans are so devoted and do in fact do this is rather the point isn’t it!
the problem is that there isn’t nearly enough of them to make her a billionaire.
I also find it odd that they think telling us that they are busily working together to buy her things is something to be proud of or a measure of success for Meghan is rather sad.

Why?

Are you in the habit of ordering multiple bottles of wine off the internet without any guarantee of quality?

Why are you excited to try it? It’s not a wine that has been highly recommended by experts as being exceptional to drinks in any way. It’s just a bog standard rose, marketed by a non expert. It isn’t a vintage or anything. I don’t why you are excited to try it as a wine. It’s unlikely to taste particularly special even with the best will in the world 🤷‍♀️
