I do wonder if Charles had a huge sigh of relief when he realised he could stop footing the bill. The Wedding, the clothes bill, the renovations, personal allowances. In a two year spell I could imagine them costing more than the duchy of Cornwall was bringing in. His wedding showed he was happy to take the privilege that comes with being the spare (even though that ship had sailed) in that his wedding was inline with William and not the other grandchildren of the reigning monarch. Has a spare ever made such a big deal of being a spare and never been second inline to the throne.

I imagine there's a huge amount of legal to-ing and fro-ing when the Sussexes are interviewed and what topics are off limits. Notice MM never mention the royal family any more. She just refers to periods of time: being able to do what she wants after "5 years"; having a voice again after "8 years"; having "a lot [she] hasn't told". We all know what she's alluding to, but she doesn't say it out loud, and I presume her interviewers are forbidden from asking her explicitly what she means, and if she means the RF.

I saw Hugo Vickers respond to Meghan's comment about her "regret" that people should have told the truth about her. He was scathing and said that any number of journalists could tell the truth. The question is, why aren't they? What are they waiting for?

Maybe Harry doesn't know that in the C. of E. you have to have two witnesses to a marriage. @Vespanest I never thought of that! I guess he would have been the spare if QEII died before W had children but she didn’t so he never was.
I never read Spare but IIRC someone on MN said in it, H had said W had dared to suggest Gloucester cathedral for the wedding and H was most insulted. I think having a royal wedding in another part of the country would have been lovely. The big royal events all occur in either Windsor or London. It would also have been good advert for tourism to showcase somewhere different in the UK.

The saying what Meghan wants Meghan gets I found contradictory. It was Harry the royal family were trying to placate. Many customs were ignored for Harry and IMO this was due to his fragility.
