The saying what Meghan wants Meghan gets I found contradictory. It was Harry the royal family were trying to placate. Many customs were ignored for Harry and IMO this was due to his fragility.

I agree. I think I that’s why he’s so arrogant and entitled. He’s been indulged all his life and is totally spoilt as a result.

So the RF knew he was crackers from the get-go? I wonder if any of them tried to discuss it with M and that was/is another thing they are now expected to apologise for?

I agree that the root cause of the majority of the issues with H is the overly indulgent parenting that he received from both Charles and Diana. H has never had to connect his actions with any consequences.

Failed Eton entrance exams...still got in
Cheated in A level art...was not expelled from Sandhurst for submitting fraudulently obtained results.
Beat up RPOs...no consequence
Wore Nazi uniform...no consequence
Left base on lockdown for mandatory drug test...was not cashiered

IMHO, KC3 would have done H a world of good if, after hitting his RPOs for the first time, H was grounded, instructed to apologise in person and sentenced to clean out the royal stables for a six-month stretch, under supervision from Aunt Anne.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/06/2025 16:04

Pretty sure Meghan’s niece would have been welcome . As would the rest of the Markle/ Ragland families

Welcomed by who, @Mylovelygreendress?
I can just about see the RF "welcoming" trhe Markle lot, if only for the entertainment value, but given the number of lies Meghan's told I can't quite see her relishing them let loose and flapping their gums after a few at the reception

That reminds me of a family friend of ours. He was the youngest and always indulged. He got away with everything growing up. His dad bailed him out so many times, even redoing work he’d messed up in the family business. His dad gave him a deposit for a house, then bought out the girlfriend when she cheated on him. Then he just stopped talking to them overnight for about three years and then mysteriously reappeared. They were kind enough to forgive him. But he’s still crap with money and lives with housemates after blowing the proceeds of his house sale. Lesson - better to let your DCs face the consequences for the minor stuff when they are young or they will never learn.

The RF have had to be civil to some very unpleasant people ( eg Mugabe ) and manage to do so without creating an international embarrassment.
KC etc would have tried to put them at their ease .
But there was no way Meghan would let anyone other than her mother near the RF .

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/06/2025 16:14

Exactly, @Mylovelygreendress
As you rightly say the RF have coped with far worse, but whether Meghan could have risked it is something else again

I'm not sure she even let Doria near the RF. I'm pretty sure I read in one of the books that Catherine and William invited her for tea, but she was never available. Benita Litt - apparently Meghan's friend (her daughters were bridesmaids) and a hot shot lawyer - sat next to Doria in the pew, and I wonder if she was there to keep an eye on her.

Hard agree.

Too many parents want to be friends with their children and fail to properly discipline them. But disciplining a child, showing them from an early age that actions have consequences, helps them grow into adults who can handle themselves in life.

H genuinely believed he could trash his family and once he was done, well they would have to take him back on his terms because that was his cumulative life experience to date.

What we are all witnessing is an epic multi-year temper tantrum from a middle-aged man who heard "no" for the first time in his life. And he cannot deal with it.

MaturingCheeseball · 25/06/2025 16:55

@RandyRedHumpback - yes, I read that Sunshine Sachs were instrumental in arranging for Doria to have a “handler” . Doria could have been accompanied by a friend or relative, but she was squired around by one of Meghan’s “friends”.

I think it was Tom Bower who said that the Middletons invited Doria to stay with them at some point leading up to the wedding but the invitation was declined. To me, her whole demeanour at the wedding just screamed “I’ve been told to keep my mouth shut!”

Oh really, that's interesting! I hadn't heard about Sunshine Sachs' involvement. Benita is a mysterious figure. 2 bridesmaids at the wedding. Supposedly one of Meghan's old friends, with Meghan reputedly her children's godmother. A patent/IP/brand management/entertainment lawyer, but apparently no help to Meghan in her brand struggles. With one of those websites that says all sorts of impressive stuff but takes you nowhere and has no contact information (a repeated feature of those around Meghan who have companies). There's been not a peep about her since the wedding. Until the Emma Grede podcast, when Meghan was flailing to name a female entrepreneur she admires, and referred to an un-named woman who is her childrens' godmother. I wonder....

Yes, interesting how Doria's quiet dignity at the ceremony might look like something completely different in hindsight.

We had a Lord and a Sir (husbands bosses) at my very ordinary wedding , I still invited my wayward uncle, who true to form took his shirt and socks off on the dance floor. Lord and Sir didn't bat an eye!

Why hasn’t a single interviewer ever challenged either of them on their wedding narrative shit? Any of it? They (H&M) spout such risible drivel.

I think most of their interviews involve hand chosen "sympathetic" interviewers and pre-approved lists of questions so that nothing "difficult" is asked.

It's the way most celeb interviews are done in the US

Vespanest · 25/06/2025 17:41

Back to as ever for a second, the marketing is 100% based on limited availability to ensure her supporters buy within an opening window. The tea company could provide thousands of tea and sprinkles (which are tea flavourings) at short notice or a weekly inventory. Meghan hasn't got the proven market except for drop shipping. She needs her fans whipped into a frenzy in the belief they are getting something special and for them valuable. If they are willing to pay X3 for tea plus shipping then the joke is on them.

TheMeasure · 25/06/2025 17:45

That is another lie I can’t get my head around them trying to peddle - that the Palace guidance was that Meghan shouldn’t invite her own niece to the wedding because of the optics of the niece’s mother not being invited. It makes zero sense, because the optics of Meghan having NO relatives attending the wedding bar Doria, looked far worse.
And we know that the RF were going out of their way to welcome Doria, not to mention all the concessions that were made to accommodate Meghan herself. It makes me cross the more I even think about how ungrateful she/they were about it all.
It was a real slap in the face both to Harry’s family and also to the British public.

Princess Anne’s second wedding was at Crathie and Zara was married in Edinburgh which was lovely .

I loved the simplicity of that wedding - especially when the royals turned up in Land Rovers and Prince Andrew was demoted to foorman when the Queen Mother couldn't get out.

I do wonder if the Queen felt it wasn’t appropriate for M to have all the bells and whistles and the big white dress when her daughter and son married in modest ceremonies for the second time.

Princess Anne wasn't allowed to be married in a CofE church as it didn't allow divorcees to remarry in the church at that time which is why they chose the Church of Scotland.

Charles and Camilla also had a registry office wedding followed by a church blessing because the Archbishop of Canterbury refused them permission.

@TheMeasure you are right. It made zero sense. That young woman was so visibly hurt by being left out. Who does this to people? Another example of how M drops people who are no longer useful to her. Of course she was happy to pick her up again to use her in the NF documentary to apparently show she does speak to some of her family.

Uricon2 · 25/06/2025 20:01

George and Amal are the point in a nutshell. Noone is going to side with with the perpetually aggrieved pair ( especially when there was no relationship of the slightest substance to start with) and risk being ostracised from real Royal substance. It might not have been the same with Diana because she achieved stardom in her own right, but the way H&M have acted since leaving is not going to draw support. It never would. I also imagine many of these people are far from stupid and can see what is happening themselves and if they can't, they have people who will.

They can certainly forget it with Tom Cruise, the last real movie star standing and probable current King of Hollywood, as I'm fully expecting to see him on the BP balcony one day (and he's friends with C&W)

ETA reading that back has made me feel a bit sad, because it could have been so very different. They've done it to themselves though.

While I agree, surely the fact she pulled this trick (much ado about what quickly turned out to be bought in goods) should have warned even the most ardent fan they might again be being taken for mugs for a ride?

If this is her idea of a strategy it must have a very limited shelf-life.

This YouTuber has had a look at the data on the website and the supplier has been changed today from The Republic of Tea (the actual supplier) to As Ever Store.
