The Era of Joy didn't last long.

This is going to be interesting, it's going to be a full on PR onslaught for the next few months, and then we will have Harry launching his very own 'commercial project'.

Clearly an article straight from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, giving an exclusive to the DM.

Has anyone seen the post about her gardening skills? I just don’t understand why they don’t think their lies won’t be shown up.

Bontonbonbon · 29/05/2025 11:20

I am more and more convinced that they pay for astroturfing campaigns, both for positive press for themselves and negative press for other members of the RF. The hoo ha around the Rose Hanbury rumours and the ‘Where’s Kate’ saga always struck me as massively over hyped and fed by anonymous posters who popped up just for those threads and then were never seen again.

Everyone is doing PR. It is the nature of the modern world. But no one seems to be doing it as obviously and badly as these two.

MayaKovskaya · 29/05/2025 11:22

Good points, @Bontonbonbon . Plus, given how frequently they pronounce, lecture and advise, it's extraordinary that they never spoke up about that whole sordid episode with Kate.

It's strange. What did someone say on another thread "she was given a cheque that her skills couldn't cash". She's just desperate to be an expert, to self promote as an amazing person.

Bontonbonbon · 29/05/2025 11:32

@MayaKovskaya That’s the thing that makes everything they say so hollow. Members of Harry’s family are being harassed by the Sussex Squad constantly. The Reddit threads run by that crowd are pretty awful. The things they say are completely at odds with realty and fairly offensive. H&M must know about this because they know everything that is said about themselves. Why would they pretend that it is I l’y happening to them?

MayaKovskaya · 29/05/2025 11:46

I don't know, and it's glaring. The levels of hypocrisy just seem to get worse. They need to call out their "squad", their fans and cheerleaders. Last year's events were vile. I wish that they would have spoken out.
They didn't
.

Yep that's about the size of it!

Nailed it

Meghan's Magic Garden! The lettuce comes out of the ground free of earth. The salad onions are ready trimmed. Her Loro Piana suede slides are bright white and spotless. She says her beagle is doing quality control. That explains a lot.

Serenster · 29/05/2025 14:14

Who in their right mind would wear white suede Loro Piano shoes (£640 on Net-a-porter) gardening? Meghan swerves between them and wellies, who can keep up…🤣

Slipped on for the photo, probably. Are they on her ShopMy site?

IdaGlossop · 28/05/2025 17:11

Two related reasons why not. People would see him through a Zoom lens. And the authenticity of community and connection are at the heart of the Sussex brand. 😄

Oh, and you forgot, they always "turn up for people".

Can't do that by zoom.

MayaKovskaya · 29/05/2025 15:27

That produce has not just come from her garden. I honestly don't see the point. Just be honest!

IcedPurple · 29/05/2025 15:54

A dog sniffing around food is not cute.

A lot of her posts feature dogs in very close proximity to food. That alone would put me off her brand. I know it's all made in a factory, but someone who lacks even basic knowledge of food hygiene is not someone I would want to be 'influenced' by.

@Bontonbonbon hi there, what are astroturfing campaigns pls.

Edited

I know. I don't want to be accused of dog hating, but I don't like the dog's face in the basket, and having them around food.

HonoriaBulstrode · 29/05/2025 16:02

Real gardeners wear old clothes. And if you're using sharp edged tools or dealing with prickly plants, ideally your feet should be protected. I bet you never see a professional gardener who isn't wearing boots.

It’s got to be deliberate at this point.

It’s apparently escalated since that Meredith M person took over the PR.

Like the Ship of Fools painting by Hieronymus Bosch.

AliasGraced · 29/05/2025 16:43

Everything about her is just so utterly phoney. She’s a parody of herself.

It's got the most brains of the lot of them.

MrsLeonFarrell · 29/05/2025 17:17

I garden in slippers when I'm picking stuff. But I have never picked vegetables that look that pristine.

My2cents1975 · 29/05/2025 17:23

The broader issue is with all the comms people on board how did such a basic error happen.

M's target market, the aspirational tradwife, will more than likely garden herself to some extent and have an awareness of what is in season. And in upscale grocery store where the target market would shop, there are signs pointing out the fruits that are in season.

It seems that each Instagram post further erodes M's tradwife brand.

AliasGraced · 29/05/2025 17:35

She’s just playing a game. She must know everyone sees through it. What a way for a grown woman to spend her days .

BasiliskStare · 29/05/2025 17:37

If I'm honest I suspect M just does not care that (if ) her basket isn't picked from her garden. She's just putting forward a glamorous view of growing your own food. And to be honest I don't really care because so many of these instagram things seem to be so obviously faked / set up etc. (not just her - lots of people do it ). It puts forward the image she is trying to portray. And I submit the sandals in further evidence. Not just this though I just don't think Meghan cares if what she says is untrue / stretching a point etc - she's just building up her image. How well that is working - I'm not qualified to say. I suspect negative comments wash over her if she thinks she is getting enough approbation. A bit like the direct mail form of sales.

What I would say is (& I will exit left after this comment ) - whispers - if those vegetables are picked from the ground ( & they do look suspiciously clean) I wouldn't mind a dog sniffing them. Because they will be thoroughly washed before use. Weeing on them even I would draw the line at. 😂 But I have a small bay tree on my tiny patio and I wash the leaves when I use them because who knows what cute Mr Robin has done on them.

And 'a life of service' because 'service is universal'.

Good old Harry and his 35 years of service 😂🤪😂🤪😂
