The Era of Joy didn't last long.

This is going to be interesting, it's going to be a full on PR onslaught for the next few months, and then we will have Harry launching his very own 'commercial project'.

Clearly an article straight from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, giving an exclusive to the DM.

Honestly, my lot between them are/were cabin crew, flight deck crew, engineers and dispatchers and between them I’ve never ever heard or seen them hyperventilating about any passenger they’ve had on board. They just don’t do it and I can’t see their friends and colleagues doing it either. But let’s just say one of them did, they’d be in trouble because which airline run professionally would want their staff behaving like this.

And If any of them came home and said they’d done something like this I’d tell them to get a grip.

Edited

Also, what young American woman is going to hyperventilate over Meghan?

Taylor Swift or Zendaya or Rihanna maybe. But Meghan Markle? Come on!

I suspect most Americans in this woman's age group barely know who she is.

The DM version of the Harry Travalyst story

In what way was Prince William's royal visit a 'similar diplomatic trip'??

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/05/2025 10:42

CathyorClaire · 26/05/2025 21:20

apparently the hypocrite has traveled to Shanghai to give a speech and talk about travelyst!!

All I want to know about Travalyst is what happened to the funds transferred from the Royal Foundation through various charitable vehicles and then vanishing into its unaccounted for maws.

Is Harold now spilling?

You and me both, Cathy

The fact that Harry will use Travalyst as yet another grifting opportunity is a given so is of little fresh interest, but as ever with the RF I'd still like to know how the money's sourced

As for whether he's "spilling" I'd say only by possible accident, since he no longer has the suits to deliver a suitable version and clearly hasn't the sense to construct one for himself

Thedom · 27/05/2025 08:12

The cabin crew member is the one who posted the TikTok about it, so I doubt she would lie, whether she keeps her job as a result of her indiscretion is another thing, but maybe American airlines have a different set of boundaries.

'We love you real bad Meghan' from a grown woman.

You must be joking, Thedom

For a start we're already subject to so many exciting new taxes "to address climate change", and when you add on the ever-increasing taxes on flights they can bloody well use what they've already got if they want to spend any more

Agree , my ex cabin crew daughter scoffed at the whole thing . Most cabin crew especially those in first class have dealt with A++ celebs and she said they would be severely reprimanded if they tried that nonsense .
Girlies ?? These are professional men and women trained to deal with difficult situations and emergencies.

Oh god, H isn’t being slowly, softly ‘rehabilitated’ into the fold, is he?

It may be that flight crew sends messages to a lot of celebrities but the others don't post publically about it.

Agree with several others that no, sending unsolicited notes to passengers, celebs, royals or members of the paying public generally really does not happen and being found out doing so would be a firing offence at many airlines.

The whole old story about the pilot coming aft to talk to M and say thanks for something is another example that's almost certainly a load of rowlocks as well.....but funny how often that sort of thing seems to happen.....

MayaKovskaya · 27/05/2025 11:03

Didn't someone allegedly kneel down and say "thank you for your service"?! 😂

Didn't someone allegedly kneel down and say "thank you for your service"?! 😂

Supposedly something along those lines was said by one of the male crewmembers when they left for Canada.

There was mention of a hat being involved so the implication was it was a despatcher or one of the pilots ..to say the least that's highly highly unlikely for all sorts of reasons...

I put that story in the same category as the dancing in the streets claim

ChevronShoes · 27/05/2025 11:18

I actually think I’m going puke.

Who TF does this utter hypocrite think he is?? Can you imagine having this man child in your family?? Who thinks he is so superior that he can fly around the world in privatise jets while preaching to everyone else about saving the planet. He only did it to grab the headlines from his dad. And they only had him there to get headlines too. The guy is an utter embarrassment.

TheAutumnCrow · 27/05/2025 10:55

Nothing would surprise me, and that includes the likely public's response to any such idea

Yes there'd be shouting and screaming initially, but as we've seen before some can be very easily manipulated by the sort of campaign at which the palace are so skilled - though it will only happen if they perceive the damage to themselves would be less than leaving Harry to get on with it

Edited to add this is true, @ChevronShoes, but why focus only on Harry when his father's been doing it for years?
In particular some of us remember his stunt at the Davos climate thing, arriving at the venue in his silly little electric toot-toot having actually flown there by private jet

HonoriaBulstrode · 27/05/2025 11:28

The man who has probably never planned a journey for himself in his life telling people to use Google to look up trains. When did you last travel by train, Harry?

A couple of years ago afaik.

And he complained in his RAVEC case about the 'close proximity of the public', or words to that effect.

Travalyst is a transparent attempt at greenwashing. So long as you book your flights through their 'partners', the carbon emissions will be positively beneficial.

You could argue that all celebrities promoting environmental causes are hypocritical to at least some degree, given that most of them have way less environmentally friendly lifestyles than the rest of us. But someone who frequently chooses to fly by private jet when commercial options are available telling the plebs to use the bus or train is really taking the proverbial.

Precisely, @IcedPurple
Personally I fly a lot and am not in the least apologetic about it, but then neither do I join in the hectoring of others for doing the same - not least because IMO it's pointless virtue signalling based on what happens to be a fashionable fad

notimagain · 27/05/2025 12:11

To be slightly fair just this once Harry does on occasions fly scheduled/commercial, especially if he has no choice but to pick up the bill.

Not sure how he got to Shanghai for the current gig but it is certainly not out of the question he flew with one of the American or Chinese scheduled operators out of LAX.

But deigning to fly with the great unwashed 'on occasion' (albeit in 1st class) is hardly some great gesture.

Harry lives near a major international airport, one which happens to be used regularly by people way richer and more famous than him. Harry isn't a Head of State so there's really no reason for him to take private jets at all.

I agree that he probably only flies privately when someone else is picking up the considerable bill.

Oh I wouldn't disagree with that, I'm just trying to head off the commonly stated assumption that he always flies biz jet

....and agree also that it looks as if he/they can get mates rates or bill a bizjet to expenses the pair will hop on one for short flights (e.g. around Invictus).

Anything further afield in recent years has usually been on the likes of BA to from the UK or one of the US carriers.

He'll certainly have got preferential treatment, and use of the VIP lounge.

MrsLeonFarrell · 27/05/2025 07:25

So it's not exactly making an impact then?

I don’t think so.

they have some sizeable “partners” but my sense is this is much more about data collection and tracking than it is about actually effecting any sort of change.

Given Harry is, in this business, a person of significant control - I can’t really believe this company is more than a shell set up for him to front (and a way for big organisations to posture about climate change action and get a chance to mix with royalty - albeit now pretty tainted royalty), rather than any serious organisation.

It's definitely more Pitch at the Palace than Earthshot. Something that benefits the Royal rather than the cause.

I also think him flying commercial is nothing to do with trying to limit his climate impact and everything to do with cost. If he had the option to fly private all the time with someone else picking up the bill I’m utterly convinced he wouldn’t think twice.
