The Era of Joy didn't last long.

This is going to be interesting, it's going to be a full on PR onslaught for the next few months, and then we will have Harry launching his very own 'commercial project'.

Clearly an article straight from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, giving an exclusive to the DM.

You can say whatever you want within talk guidelines, as can anyone.

But it's a bit weird to be constantly telling people something is 'just my opinion' on a discussion forum. What else could it possibly be?

Something someone else is telling you to say? 🤷‍♀️

well look here!
apparently the hypocrite has traveled to Shanghai to give a speech and talk about travelyst!!! 🙄

I think the Travelyst angle is just an excuse for him nipping out to pick up a takeaway.

prelovedusername · 27/05/2025 07:20

Travalyst is a coalition of industry partners whose aim is to encourage people to travel sustainably. Laudable aims, except that who benefits most from encouraging travel? Why, the industry partners providing the means of doing so of course. Which is why it failed in its attempt to register as a charity, because personal, as distinct from public, benefit is not and never can be a charitable aim.

MrsLeonFarrell · 27/05/2025 07:25

elessar · 26/05/2025 23:06

I have no idea what they do.

I work in the travel industry and often attend conferences and industry events, and I’ve never heard anyone mention Travalyst in any context, ever.

So it's not exactly making an impact then?

Is there any data on whether it's making any impact after 5 years?

Couldn’t tell you. It all sounds very well intentioned but far too much vested interest for my liking.

MayaKovskaya · 27/05/2025 07:30

Travelyst is a good excuse for Harry to keep jumping on planes.
Just my opinion.

Mylovelygreendress · 27/05/2025 07:43

Slight derail but the message on a napkin from Meghan on an AA flight was a bit bizarre . Or is it just me ?
Pre DC , DD2 was cabin crew ( and still in travel industry) and she didn’t believe it . Discretion is drummed in to cabin crew.
And she has never heard of Travelyst.

Does anyone pay the higher cost of air travel offered when buying an airline ticket to offset the carbon footprint. I never do and I am sure the majority of travellers don't either.

The cabin crew member is the one who posted the TikTok about it, so I doubt she would lie, whether she keeps her job as a result of her indiscretion is another thing, but maybe American airlines have a different set of boundaries.

'We love you real bad Meghan' from a grown woman.

I have so many questions about this, including why do these unbelievable things happen to Meg on planes??!

You can only do that if you're rich. So rich people like Harry can travel with impunity. The rest of us plebs have to stay at home.

I figure we have bought, planted and sustained enough trees on our rural property to be over and above doing our bit…

It may be that flight crew sends messages to a lot of celebrities but the others don't post publically about it.

MayaKovskaya · 27/05/2025 08:22

Flight crew do not send fangirl, gushing messages to people on their flights. They deal with far more powerful, successful and influential people than her.
Their professional instruction is to ne unobtrusive and respect privacy.

It's also a bit of a scam. Air travel is damaging to the environment no matter how many trees you plant. Of course, cattle class on Ryanair is a lot less bad than taking private jets, which is how eco Harry and his wife prefer to travel.

Personally I don't feel guilty about my occasional flights, but if I did, I guess 'offsetting' might be a good way to assuage that, even if it makes little practical difference.

MayaKovskaya · 27/05/2025 08:29

Yes, @IcedPurple I've read about Harry's "offsetting". It's really nonsense. However, that doesn't stop him preaching. As per.

Absolutely. The last thing high profile passengers want is a flight attendant gushing all over them. They want discreet, professional service.

Also, flight attendants are usually run off their feet and don't have time to scribble notes to 'celebrity' passengers. I would consider this highly unprofessional behaviour. That's assuming it ever actually happened of course.

Yes, I agree. It's just the usual made up nonsense, I guess.

TheAutumnCrow · 27/05/2025 09:11

It’s the ‘AA girlies’ I find unbelievable. I mean, really?? Are we back to trolly dollies and air hostesses now, not trained and professional flight attendants?

It’s a bloody crap look for American Airlines.

Agree. The daily mail says that the note from the girlies was given as MM got on the plane. I find that odd. The AA girlie refers to MM as the Queen as well in this article. I wonder if the airline agrees with this contacting of passengers.

Honestly, my lot between them are/were cabin crew, flight deck crew, engineers and dispatchers and between them I’ve never ever heard or seen them hyperventilating about any passenger they’ve had on board. They just don’t do it and I can’t see their friends and colleagues doing it either. But let’s just say one of them did, they’d be in trouble because which airline run professionally would want their staff behaving like this.

And If any of them came home and said they’d done something like this I’d tell them to get a grip.

Edited

In that case this is a really odd story. Did they see her on the passenger and decide to write the note? Whilst I have some sympathy for Meghan i really don't understand why anyone would wrote a note like that and give it to her.
