Harry's new interview 2

Viviennemary · 03/05/2025 13:19

I just thought I would start second thread since I noticed the first one is full. It has certainly dominated media reporting. I saw a snippet on Sky news earlier. A document from Harry saying its a dereliction of duty to stop his security. Erm who just whizzed off to the USA and left all the duties behind. I havent watched the whole interview. I wonder if he'll appeal again.

I know! How the hell are RAVEC supposed to organise security if there's no member of the household on the committee to discuss travel, visits and timetables?

Again, a bit of insight from my friend who reports about threats to RAVEC (just a general picture, no specifics).

Part of the particular risks to royals is that their schedules are planned and known about in advance, and that they generally have an element of prestige, plus other royals and VIPs present. Private occasions are not generally known of in advance. This is what the royal household rep shares.

Malicious individuals generally want to make a splash with their attacks. They choose high-status public events as targets and are more competent/organised. Mentally unwell/obsessed ones want to make a personal connection. They are generally impulse-driven and, shall we say, not the sharpest tacks in the box. Castles are easy to protect because, well, they're castles.

Harry shared that his assessment went from 100 to 0 because he withdrew from being a working royal. But if he's not attending public royal events without other royals present he won't be as easy to find, target and attack.

So a threat from someone who knows your likely location might plausibly go down if they've much less access to information, or if the location isn't as important/significant to make a statement.

But this computes to Harry as... Well, it doesn't compute.

(My friend only gave a gist on how assessments/threats occur, the rest is my speculation.)

Harry believes he should have high level 24/7 security provided, just because he is Harry. He really doesn’t understand that security is not personal, it is provided for reasons of importance to the nation. Harry is not that important

Madcatdudette · 07/05/2025 12:38

He is genuinely delusional and paranoid. He’s got security when he’s here. Just because he now has to give notice, doesn’t mean he’s not going to get the level of security he needs.

@Ohpleeeease @IdaGlossop

what is the “hotel story”?!

Harry wrote about it in Spare, @Cherrytree86. Someone posted the relevant excerpt upthread. Nothing particularly salacious but a bit of a weird thing to include. I think Moehringer may have been temporarily possessed by the spirit of Jackie Collins.

Pour old JRM. He did a valiant job with the material but things fall off towards the end ( entrance mm stage left) where I think I detect a certain influence and éditorial unevenness.

I wonder if vol 2 has already been agreed by Random Penguins with the same ghostwriter?

Random penguins together with singing seals may well have been employed to ghost write volume two. It would bear as much relation to reality as anything else emanating from the Sussexes 🙄😆

Ohpleeeease · 07/05/2025 13:35

Given the likely sales of Spare US (see what I did there?) JRM might be persuaded to return to write the sequel. He might feel tainted by the association though.

The writer is correct when she points that H has apparently no sympathy for what his father is going through. He continues to receive cancer treatment fgs.
@smilesygood point that the government provides security to VIPs for the national interest, not the individual. It’s nothing to do with what the individual deserves or is entitled to.

Ha ha ha at this from the Guardian piece:

"As well as being biologically unable to sweat, Prince Andrew had this weird condition where he couldn’t have a listen to himself, and you do worry Prince Harry has inherited the same gene."

Prince Andrew claimed he ‘didn’t sweat’ in BBC interview... but what does science say?

Claim not widely recognised although some evidence found in horses, scientists say

Was this the one with the heart going “pump pump” or something? 🤔

I honestly don't remember. I don't know whether or not it was a best-seller for a while.

LaMarschallin · 07/05/2025 14:19

@smilesy

Was this the one with the heart going “pump pump” or something? 🤔

It was.
I was another who read it cover to cover (including the dedication) in a shop and thought "Well, that's 15 seconds of my life I won't get back".

There was also something about someone's life starting on the bench, which sounded like a conception occurring during a quick bunk up in a park.

Weepixie · 07/05/2025 14:21

@smilesy - yes, it was.

I am impressed by all those reading it in a book shop and leaving it there. Grifting at it’s finest 😂😂

I'm bloody amazed by anyone reading it anywhere and still actually buying it.

To be fair I’d definitely buy Jacob Rees Mogg’s version of Spare.

He's got a bit of spare time these days, maybe he could write the sequel?

"It all started with my Nanny, no not Her Majesty the Queen, the much more important one who is also going to rear my own family and provide emotional support for a lifetime... (&c, &c)

Except I think the nannies in Montecito might have different ideas.

Always touched by Churchill's love for his Nanny Everest (who he called Woom) having been emotionally neglected by his parents. As a young man at Sandhurst while she was dying he dashed backwards and forwards to London to be with her as much as possible, went to her funeral and paid for her headstone.
