Oof, this is a good result for him. He was never going to bring the 'wife and kids' back to the UK. Now he can say, 'wah, I would have done, but my fam are soooo mean and my hands are tied, so whaddya do? Shrug.'

This is the outcome he was likely advised to expect and lo, he went with it.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 17:13

He is comparing himself to politicians and other public figures and claims they all have security when t hey leave office.

IcedPurple · 02/05/2025 17:13

Does he think this rant is going to help him? All the 7 year old arguments about 'the tabloids'? Does he think RAVEC are going to change their decision because of this embittered nonsense?

And again he's showing that he doesn't understand what a 'private citizen' is.

RandyRedHumpback · 02/05/2025 17:13

Q: Why should the taxpayers pay for you?

A: The UK press campaigned to have his security removed by quoting exaggerated costs for his security. If the taxpayer is happy to pay for people who made a choice to be public servants, why are they not comfortable to pay for him when he was born into it and has done 2 tours of Afghanistan. RAVEC protects private citizens who have never played a public role. The RF made him into a private citizen. Why can't they therefore protect him when he is a high risk private citizen?

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 17:14

Talking about private citizens are protected so why not him

TheNeedyKhakiPanda · 02/05/2025 17:14

So basically, it's everyone else's fault.

Serenster · 02/05/2025 17:14

People don’t realise that there are private citizens that are protected at taxpayer expense because they are at high risk - and rightly so - but that doesn't apply to me.

IcedPurple · 02/05/2025 17:14

He really shouldn't be talking about 'security scores'. There's a reason these things are kept confidential.

Like I say, his dimness and sense of entitlement make him a security threat. He really should stay in California.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 17:15

Apparently RAVEC and the press are conspiring

PoppysAunt · 02/05/2025 17:15

TheNeedyKhakiPanda · 02/05/2025 17:14

Oh, that's new 🙄

TheAutumnCrow · 02/05/2025 17:15

He ‘can’t be a private citizen’.

So says the man clutching at royal titles for himself and his wife & kids.

This is a terrible interview for Harry.

RandyRedHumpback · 02/05/2025 17:15

Only his grandmother had a higher security rating than him, then he was downgraded to the lowest. Why has he ended up with case by case basis? If he's invited by his family he gets security. If he comes for any other reason, he gets low security. This means there's not much he can do in the UK to support his charity and see his friends. All he gets is someone on the end of a phone.

Serenster · 02/05/2025 17:15

If I am invited to the UK by my family, I’ll get security. If I come for any other reason, I’ll get inadequate security -”someone in the end of the phone”

Serenster · 02/05/2025 17:16

I’m being treated differently to anyone who has ever existed - past or present

IcedPurple · 02/05/2025 17:16

He mentioned visiting my friends! Harry, nobody gives a toss if you visit your friends or not.

As for 'supporting my charities', are there no deserving charities in California?

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 17:16

Who is punishing you?

Security was used as leverage. What worried me most is that is setting a precedent that security can be used to control members of the family

JSMill · 02/05/2025 17:17

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 17:13

They don’t get it at anything like the same level. I know, an ex prime minister living in my area and she has gone from police outriders blocking off the road when she was coming and going to sauntering around Waitrose on her own.

IdaGlossop · 02/05/2025 17:17

Serenster · 02/05/2025 17:04

He must have broken the Court fo Appeal’s embargo to have set this up!!! How could the BBC have set up an interview in 3 hours’ notice!

The BBC wouldn't involve themselves in breaking an embargo. What is likely to have happened is that the arrangements were made based on the announcement yesterday of the decision being made public at 2pm today. As you have told us, @serenster, Harry knew the outcome in advance. The new head of comms will have been charged with approaching the BBC. As a PR pro, she too would respect the embargo. An exclusive interview with Harry is attractive no matter the outcome of the appeal.

RandyRedHumpback · 02/05/2025 17:17

Security was used by the RF as leverage to control him and sets a precedent tp imprison members of the RF and stop them choosing a different life.

Serenster · 02/05/2025 17:17

It was a pretty hard decision to choose between security and walking away from a different life.

(Except you made your choice Harry! Maybe out of pique, but you made it).

Charlize43 · 02/05/2025 17:17

Good! Let them eat jam!

He seems to think being a 'private citizen' means being not famous.

But of course that's not what it means at all.

The fact that he's a private citizen means he can and his wife can do all their commercial shyte.

I'm guessing May, because Truss would be trigged by the lettuce and now exclusively online shops.

If he were able to stay at Windsor castle or Buck Pal then the security needed would be just for the journey from the airport and when not in the residence. But with the family estrangement he has to stay in a hotel so thinks he’s more exposed. But actually, if the family aren’t wanting to see them (the 4 of them) he doesn’t have much reason to bring the kids anyway. Perhaps he thought short trips without Meghan would be possible if he could get the security. But I am not sure she would allow that anyway.

i wonder if the case was also a stepping stone for him to try and elevate them to IPP status so they could cut their annual security bill. Living in a country with guns and Harry’s level of paranoia, their security bill must be sky high.

Harry has been offered accommodation in royal properties but he chose to stay in hotels. There are sufficient properties available to ensure he does not bump into members of his family.

ThatRoseBear · 02/05/2025 17:18

The man is a complete tool. The majority of the British public could not give a shit whether he and his children visit England. Any additional security he wants he has the funds to pay for. Why should the taxpayer fund it with the cost of living ever increasing. Everything that happens is always someone else's fault, he cannot accept any personal responsibility. Constantly complaining and moaning, good riddance to them. We don't want them, they can stay over there and struggle to make ends meet with their millions and lazy entitled lifestyle. Had to stop watching as he was making my blood boil
