Watching the news about the horrendous rubbish problem in Birmingham, this was followed by Kates film clip rambling about Windermere saying we need to connect with nature and couldn’t help thinking it was inappropriate.I bet cancer sufferers in Birmingham would love to do this instead of holding down a job worrying about col doing chores that I bet she never does and have stinking rubbish with rats in the streets. I have no problem with her video but thought the timing was so off. They sometimes need to read the room.

Indeed, @Extiainoiapeial but that doesn’t negate the fact that MN will take a view on TGs once a post is brought to their attention - they don’t delete on every report.

stillclueless · 22/04/2025 07:41

Obviously some people can’t take criticism and are report happy. A bit like running to mummy with tales a bit immature for grown ladies to behave in this manner.

The funny thing is... if MN are a bit slow deleting a post, the person who posted it never gets to know it's been deleted anyway, so all a bit of a pointless exercise. I suppose it makes the reportee (or is it report-er?!) happy!

I don't think the Waleses are lazy because a Russian bot told me to. I think they're lazy because that's what the evidence of many years strongly suggests. We know that Kate in particular has always done the bear minimum and hung around for a decade, never getting a job or doing anything productive, waiting for William to propose. This really isn't a new phenomenon.

She does enough. She’s on par with other royals in Europe. William and Catherine became full-time working royals in 2017. She had three difficult pregnancies, and now she has battled cancer—let’s not ignore that.

The claim that she “hung around for a decade” is simply untrue. They got together when she was very young—still at university—and they got engaged after seven years together. What did people expect? That they get engaged straight out of school? That’s completely unrealistic, especially given the position he holds. She didn’t just hang around—they were in a committed relationship.

As for the idea that she didn’t build a career—context matters. She didn’t really get the chance. The media was already obsessing over her, stalking her at work, and offering money for personal details. It made holding down a normal job nearly impossible. That’s why she ended up working for her parents—it gave her privacy and security the press couldn’t disrupt.
And let’s be real: even if she had started a long-term career, she’d have had to give it up eventually. That’s the reality of royal life.

Yeah because someone cant handle the truth and asking them to be deleted. It's okay for their posts to stand, I repeat the same thing theyvwrote back to them and mine is deleted as it was repeoted. I just didn't bother reporting theirs cos let it stand so people see what they write.

Funny you say I'm being nasty I'm not the one who continually makes nasty comments about two people I don't know every single time they do something.

It's not because someone can't handle the truth - it's actually not truth. It's your opinion. Opinions can be shared but they will be deleted if they are just offensive comments as seen by MN.
There's that other old line " I would rather let things stand so people can see what was said" 🔔 🔔 🔔 😂 PS Perhaps people might understand what you are trying to say if you don't run all the words together. HTH

I am glad Kate is feeling much better, however

However you try to make a mockery of this, it still stands that there are names on here with many deletions in the last few days. Those posters must be unable to understand the guidelines for posting or are indeed very nasty people who cannot drum up more than an insult - touting it as a badge of honour as to their truths. Give me a break . 😂

I think there are some unpleasant people on mumsnet but you and I would probably not agree as to who they are.

And, whatever you like to say, if posts aren't reported they don't get deleted and I'll go back to my original point... there are some posters that are very report-happy.

utterexasperation · 22/04/2025 11:00

@Extiainoiapeial I don't even know how you can say that as if you know that for a fact. I'm sure there are many people who report distasteful posts even if it is not about them. You seem to be making an assumption here but there are many on here who hold to higher standards. You have no real idea about this.

Uricon2 · 22/04/2025 11:00

@vera99 while I share your warm views on Pope Francis, I should point out that "King of Kings" is a title exclusively reserved in Christianity for Jesus Christ. The worst Pope in history would have abjured it.

Isn't a forum about perceptions, opinions and thoughts? That is my opinion.

Opinions vary.

There once was a stalwart, quite feted
Who claimed that she never deleted
Her sidekick was there
To claim, "That's not fair!"
And report that the thread had got heated.

Therovingsunlight77 · 23/04/2025 21:58

@vera99 you’ve been given a hard time on this thread but I just wanted to say that I very much agree with, and appreciate, your words about Pope Francis.

I do think there is a lesson there to be learnt about leadership with modesty and humility, especially in how he refused to move to the lavish papal apartments in the Apostolic Palace and instead chose to remain in a modest suite at Casa Santa Marta guesthouse.

I think the Royal Family could take heed of his example, especially given the current housing crisis in the UK. Literally millions of people, including many young children, do not currently have a safe, stable home. State housing provision has been cut to the bone. and now much of the private rental system is corrupt and volatile. Many older or disabled uk citizens for this reason are also finding it hard to live the dignified life they deserve.

I think it is valid to ask respectfully why it is necessary for our Head of State and all of the members of his family to live so lavishly? Does it help them to do their jobs more effectively? Or does it divide them from the people they are supposed to serve?

Therovingsunlight77 · 23/04/2025 22:25

Some of his reasons may well have been pragmatic as well as spiritual BemusedAmerican.

He was setting an example for sure.

But I am quite certain that the Vatican could have stumped up enough cash for him to live in the Apostolic Palace which is the customary accommodation for all popes, had Francis wanted to live there. 😀 Indeed, when he first assumed his office, it was expected that he would live there.

His primary reason though, which was well known, is that he said he needed people around him. He didn’t want to become remote and isolated, having been used to communal and collegiate living all of his life,

Sorry but I’m not quite sure that I understand your point?

BemusedAmerican · 23/04/2025 22:26

BTW, I watched Charles's coronation online. I don't remember him taking a vow of poverty.

BemusedAmerican · 23/04/2025 22:37

The Vatican is in a financial hole. Fortune magazine just did some articles, hidden behind a paywall, about their financial deficit. Francis cut the Cardinals salaries 3x. He had to walk the talk.

And as an American I can tell you that there is a reason the church had to pay out lots of money and seen declining attendance.

Just as well and that’s kind of my point!

I can understand the state requiring its representative to appear appropriately dressed and living in accommodation that was safe and sufficiently comfortable for visiting dignitaries, but I don’t understand how the obscene wealth of the RF helps them do their job properly? My point being, that in these more egalitarian times, I think it has become a barrier between them and the British people.

For example, William’s work on homelessness, however well intentioned, lacks credibility when he will inherit around sixteen or so substantial estates.

Ditto Charles’s work on the environment.

Likewise, Catherine’s interest in early years development when 2.9 million children currently live in deep poverty in the uk. Don’t get me wrong, they are all perfectly reasonable initiatives, but the RF’s huge wealth creates a credibility issue.

I still don’t understand your point.

Pope Francis shunned the trappings! He was trying to introduce fiscal propriety in to the Vatican. He was driven around in a Corsa and travelled on the metro, He wore ordinary workmen’s shoes and lived modestly.

This humility he demonstrated in his every day life helped him do his job well because he didn’t put himself on a pedestal, and as a result became more relatable and closer to the people he was serving,

As I said the poster i responded to using exactly what they said, their post still remains undelete but mine was deleted simply cos someone reported it. That also means their post is offensive and breaks guidelines too since I just turn their words back on them. But hey as I said I can't be asked to press report cos it's just an anonymous forum. 🤷

Apparently, there is an income threshold for credibility in the imagination of Sussex PR!
