Watching the news about the horrendous rubbish problem in Birmingham, this was followed by Kates film clip rambling about Windermere saying we need to connect with nature and couldn’t help thinking it was inappropriate.I bet cancer sufferers in Birmingham would love to do this instead of holding down a job worrying about col doing chores that I bet she never does and have stinking rubbish with rats in the streets. I have no problem with her video but thought the timing was so off. They sometimes need to read the room.

Where does it say the Royals have to do anything?

There are certain events/services that Royals are expected to attend. This is one of them.

Stop pretending otherwise.

Expected by you perhaps and a few tabloid journos. I imagine most people don't give a stuff either way.

Cathandkin · 17/04/2025 21:15

I blame the Church of England for the bin strikes. Do they have anything to do with the Scouts? That, too.

Then why are you so bothered about the next heir to the throne attending an Easter service if you are not a devout Protestant or a Royalist? I don’t understand?

I have repeatedly said why I expect him to attend the Easter service.

This is true. Especially as that poster professes not to be a devout Protestant or a Royalist? So why are they so bothered about whether the Prince of Wales attend a public Easter service or not? Hmm 🤔

But why? You are not a royalist or a devout Protestant? So why does it bother you? I don’t expect anyone who is not a devout Protestant or Royalist to be this bothered? It’s strange. You seem almost obsessed, but then you profess you are neither.

No. By the general public too. It’s why there’s been a reaction to it.

If there’s no expectation, there would be no story.

You may not agree that he needs to attend, but you can’t argue that there isn’t the expectation of the public that he would attend.

Mylovelygreendress · 17/04/2025 21:17

If they went they would be accused of trotting the DC out !

Must be to do with the Arche-Bin-Shop of Canterbury or something 🤷🏼‍♀️ (I’ll grab my coat)

Cathandkin · 17/04/2025 21:18

To quote Father Ted, when playing Cluedo and suspecting the Rev. Green:
"Those Protestants, always up to no good!".

I know, the Scouts should be up in Brum all Easter weekend emptying the bins, with the Archbishop of Canterbury and Prince William threatening them with a cattle prod and forced watching of Aston Villa if they take a rest.

Honestly, no one gives a toss any more; maybe 50 years ago they would. But not any more! Approx 38% of the UK population have no religion, and King Charles has proclaimed he wants to be Defender of the Faiths. Times are a-changing.

Because I live in a country where our head of state is the Monarch. I take interest as a Briton and as a taxpayer.

William has a job to do. He will be our King, probably in the not too distant future.

If he chooses not to carry out certain events, then the public are going to have something to say.

Also, again. Why are you attaching labels to me?

You are calling me obsessed.

I have done nothing to you. I have said nothing personal.

I expressed an opinion that people got upset about. Why? I have no idea.

But you’re not a devout Protestant? Surely you want your head of state to reflect and represent your religious point of view? I do love that you are so invested in the royals doing their duty though, bless you! But anyway, you send your letter to the King and Archbishop of Canterbury if you feel that strongly about it. Complaining on Mumsnet isn’t going to amount to much. You’re just coming across as a Royalist who is disappointed in not seeing their favourite royal going to a public church ceremony, bless you 🥰

AtIusvue · 17/04/2025 21:23

I think many posters on here know my username, yet somehow I’m now being labelled as obsessed etc.

Others can have different opinions on here without the need for name calling.

Cathandkin · 17/04/2025 21:24

Is it an "event"? Is it a church service?
I've missed this, do they film the service live?
Is it at some significant church?

Why do you keep saying devout Protestant?

I have gave my point of view but you aren’t interested. That’s fine. Stop attaching a religious identity to me that I don’t possess.

Um, yes I can, since most of the public wouldn't know or care either way unless the tabloids and weird obsessives like you were making a fuss about it. Windsor Easter service is a private family event NOT a state event. The expectation is the tabloid journalists' expectation of some clicks on the royal fashion parade, who spoke to whom, who marched in front of whom, who looked peeved, who looked happy, who looked cute, blah fucking blah. Not a hint of Jesus dying to save us all, there is a green hill, or anything else pertaining to the Christian church, worship, doctrine or tradition, let alone affairs of the state.

My2cents1975 · 17/04/2025 21:27

Per media reports, The Head of the Church of England (aka the Sovereign) granted his permission for The Prince of Wales to not attend Easter Service at Windsor. If the Head of the Church is ok, why does anyone else have an issue with this?

And not attending Easter Service at Windsor does not equal not attending Easter Service elsewhere...the Church of England does have churches throughout England and there will be one in handy distance from wherever the Wales family are staying.

IMHO, some people are making a mountain out of a molehill!

But what if he doesn’t want to be Head of the Church of England when he is King? Charles never attended every single Easter service, so why should William? I have no interest in how the Royal family worship. I wouldn’t care if Camilla was a Muslim and worshipped in a Mosque. Their religion is private to them and I would rather they follow their own faith in private than pay lip service. Especially as William is not actually Head of the Church of England just yet.

You don’t agree. Fine.
