Harry RAVEC decision appeal

I thought I would start a separate thread to discuss the court case which started today. I for one am still baffled as to why Harry thinks that his treatment has been unreasonable, given that he no longer lives in the UK, but is still given security on a case by case basis when he visits. This seems perfectly reasonable to me 🤷‍♀️

She is only able to provide boxes of mixes 🤪

But she is more than capable of stirring 😀

Very sad how he wanted to find a new life and spends all this time chasing his old life

He expected to keep all the status and privileges but be able to make millions from his name as well.

@DelectableMe Yes. The point is he cannot buy Royal security levels as he’s not a working Royal. I think if you give up the job, you give uk the Royal armed security. Taylor Swift doesn’t get it. Or Elon Musk. Although British, Harry is on a par with them now - unless the court thinks differently. He has said he will pay for such a service, but it’s not for sale is it?

@IcedPurple Harry is worth enough to pay costs if awarded against him. It’s something he must have been advised about. He’s not destitute as far as we know. Maybe he will try and tap up Papa?

Does he have any assets in Britain which could theoretically be seized if he refused to pay?

Which is why the whole NY car chase thing gives me “echoes of what happened to Diana” vibes

Do you remember that really fucking creepy thing he said about Meg?

"History was repeating itself. My mother was chased to her death while she was in a relationship with someone who wasn't white, and now look what's happened. You want to talk about history repeating itself? They're not gonna stop until she dies."

It's from 'The Me You Can't See', ep 3.

"H can appeal to the Supreme Court if the Appeal Court finding goes against him."
@IdaGlossop

Surely to goodness even Harry wouldn't try again if this good against him. I would hope if the case is upheld the Judge would make it very clear in words even Harry can understand that he should accept the decision and STOP RIGHT NOW (and pay the bill asap)

I just really hope the decision is upheld. My problem is when they getting into arguing procedural errors etc I just don't know.

Same.

To me it seems like the whole case is a farce, but these things often hinge on arcane legal arguments, so who knows?

It would be interesting to hear from someone who knows how these things work.

I agree @Profhilodisaster, it’s very unhealthy. He wanted to leave, he left, and he’s becoming less and less relevant within the RF so his (and his children’s) security is determined differently to say the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children. Why is that so hard to grasp?

His brief is claiming today apparently that H&M didn't want to stop being working royals but that they were made to.

So much for the 'freedom flight' and a zillion other claims by them and their 'squad'.

Profhilodisaster · 08/04/2025 14:55

His KC seems to have used 40 trillion words to say that an assessment should have been done by the RAC , RPM or whatever they're called instead of RAVEC .

DelectableMe · 08/04/2025 14:55

His legal team seems to be focused on " errors and flaws" in the ruling. I'm wondering if their only hope is to get the ruling changed on a technicality?

Yes, I was just thinking the same! She's talking in a very roundabout way - I think about the legality of the original ruling?

Yes , I think so , like loads of court cases the technicalities can win or lose a case. I think she's saying that they didn't follow procedures.

Yes, that's what I got from it. I don't think they really believe that he's been treated unfairly, so they're focusing on that.

That's exactly what this case is about though, following procedures.

The decision itself isn't being contested, just the process by which that decision was reached. So I guess her arguments make sense in that context, though it remains to be seen if the judge is convinced.

I absolutely think Harry’s security risk should be decided by the RAC 😂

In theory yes, and early on in this farce the HO lawyer said they intended to pursue him in full for their costs.

But, and those more familiar with legal affairs can correct me on this, I've heard that in practice it can be difficult to recoup costs, so even if he loses chances are the taxpayer will be on the hook for at least some of the expenses.

No security at all until he pays the court costs to the home office, the costs are going to be more than a few years worth of protection. You can't spend your life bitching about everyone and expect good service. I think KC should be made to pay any outstanding debts, it's his poor parenting that produced this sniveling twat.
ETA. They don't have the funds for extra security.

It's all crackers to me and probably a good job I'm not a lawyer, because if the outcome, whatever route was taken, is the same, does it matter?
Im guessing in the eyes of the law, it does matter.

I think Harry just threw a major strop at being 'denied' the same level of security as his brother, so instructed his lawyers to challenge the decision. Their only legal recourse was this Judicial Review, as it's not within the remit of the courts to challenge RAVEC's decision directly. However, even if this appeal succeeds the most that can happen is that RAVEC review the case and in all likelihood come to the same decision all over again. Harry's probably too dim to realise that however. David 'Brylcream' Sherborne really saw him coming, didn't he?

Mightymoog · 08/04/2025 15:11

not the topic I know but I had forgotten about the obscene rise in funding that just came in.

bizzywizzy · 08/04/2025 15:12

They weren't made to stop being working royals. They were refused their half in half out, keeping met police protection swanning around the globe on the half out parts.

But it’s not what William has ! And not what Catherine has !

He gets more than the late Queen's other grandchildren, as he is not in direct succession then he doesn't need it.

Going on 🙄

Surely his reason(s) for leaving don't matter. The fact is, he did.
