Harry RAVEC decision appeal

I thought I would start a separate thread to discuss the court case which started today. I for one am still baffled as to why Harry thinks that his treatment has been unreasonable, given that he no longer lives in the UK, but is still given security on a case by case basis when he visits. This seems perfectly reasonable to me 🤷‍♀️

I notice that William and George sat in the crowd at the Villa match last night. They obviously had discreet security, but it just looked like they were regular fans. A good normalisation experience for George.

I love how normal their reactions were, just like any fan, and clearly how close they are.

He should do the honourable thing and pay for it out of his own pocket. CF!

well his grandma and his dad have continually leeched off the public without putting their hands in their own pockets so he's following family custom

Yes I have to say I saw that Harry’s “life was at stake” and I thought, “it’s what now?” Hyperbole at its finest 🙄. Again I fail to see why his receiving security in a country he now rarely visits is so critical. His nose is clearly out of joint because he is not as important as his brother. Waaagh!

I'm way behind, but wanted jump ahead with a question. So apologies if it's been mentioned and I haven't read it yet.

Would it be possible that H believes that if he wins, the next step could be to push for the BG to supply him with bodyguards 24/7 in the US?

He definitely doesn't want to pay for any security himself wherever he is in the world.

That's a very good question. We know that he wants IPP status, which means armed protection not paid for by himself wherever and whenever. The free part being the most important.
I think initially, at least, it's about getting taxpayers' money to pay for security status equivalent to Charles and William. Then perhaps a stepping stone to IPP?

Yes of course that’s what he wants.

Yes, it wouldn't surprise me. But it seems unlikely to me to come off. Even if granted for when he visits the UK, I can't see the government signing up to pay for his security around the globe, when he's no longer a working royal. They know how badly that would go down with the voting public who are being asked to expect all sorts of cutbacks. I think it's very important to the Sussexes though. And while that's in part about ego, it's also about cash. Armed security costs a lot. Some have previously speculated it could be the thing that breaks them financially.

IcedPurple · 10/04/2025 17:20

I don't know why IPP status keeps getting brought up.

As has been said, that is only granted to accredited diplomats or high level officials.

Since Harry is a private citizen who doesn't represent anyone other than that life coaching business, there is no question of him being granted IPP status.

It's being brought up because that's what Harry thinks he should get, and was under the impression he was entitled to!

But even Charles and William when not on official engagements don't have security at the level Harry seems to think he needs. Of course they have it, but it's low key, like at the football yesterday, or when the King stops to chat with people he meets when out walking. They clearly don't live their lives in the state of constant paranoia that Harry seems to.

teacherteacher1 · 10/04/2025 17:32

Perhaps next time Harry in the UK he could have a chat with his Auntie Anne who seems to accept downgraded security without a fuss despite being the only royal to be held at gunpoint. She could teach her nephew a thing or two.

Thanks everyone!

I know he can't be granted IPP in reality, but I was questioning if he might believe that by winning this court case he could then push for 24/7 security paid for by the British government (taxpayers).
(Because he is so vital to the moral of the British and he is in so much danger🙄)

And she's the busiest of all royals I recall too!

Did H and M not release a statement ( since deleted) in 2020 stating that they should still be entitled to IPP status ?

Vespanest · 10/04/2025 17:51

With regards to joining William at the football, Harry doesn't like soccer (uk) and prefers football (US), it was in the interview when asked what he missed about the UK and all he could muster was countryside, there was no "home" that he cites in the court documents. Harry certainly believes he could if not should receive police security in other countries, he has stated so.

It’s very sad really. He seems to have lost his entire identity and is trying to take on another identity , but he’s not sure what that’s supposed to look like.

BemusedAmerican · 10/04/2025 17:57

His home in Montecito is allegedly near a bird sanctuary. I can't see the neighbors as hunting and shooting fans.

They did indeed, Mylovelygreendress; it was during the Megxit thing, and for whatever reason the claim was very quickly deleted

I know it's already been said Harry won't get IPP, @PullTheBricksDown, but according to posters who know about these things it wouldn't be us paying for security worldwide if he had got it
Apparently it's a thing where countries pay for each others' VIPs while there, presumably trusting the others to only grant IPP status where it's genuinely needed

One of the reasons the Canadians were so keen to get shot of them when they landed there after their Freedom Flight; they didn't want to risk being landed with the bill.

Quite. That's quite a millstone for any nation. They just don't contribute anything at all.

Her security team have access to credible threats about her. That’s the difference.

And don’t be mistaken. Security around her is uber tight.
