Harry RAVEC decision appeal

I thought I would start a separate thread to discuss the court case which started today. I for one am still baffled as to why Harry thinks that his treatment has been unreasonable, given that he no longer lives in the UK, but is still given security on a case by case basis when he visits. This seems perfectly reasonable to me 🤷‍♀️

As pp have said, Harry wants the comparators for his assessment by RAVEC to be King Charles and PoW William, ie he wants Heads of State and next Head of State treatment.

However surely the correct comparators now are the ‘blood’ princes and princesses like Beatrice, Eugenie, Richard, Michael, Edward (Duke of Kent), Alexandra, and their spouses. Even the ones who do some work (official engagements) like stalwart Richard of Gloucester get far, far less security that Harry does in the UK, as do Anne, Edward, Andrew.

I honestly hope he gets what Prince Richard of Gloucester gets, as a maximum.

I think a technical ‘win’ for Harry and a new ‘standard’ assessment process could be something he regrets down the line. His barrister must have warned him though, I’d assume.

But he wants the fanfare, guns, blacked out SUV cavalcade, press coverage, he wants to be that important. It hasn't occurred to him that most people don't give a shit about him.

Did he ever have that level of security even as a working royal? Royal security tends to be very discreet. Maybe you'd get the blacked out motorcade for the King on a high level official visit, but I don't think Harry got a security convoy to open a youth centre in Middlesborough.

TheAutumnCrow · 10/04/2025 11:07

Harry also seems to hate security (‘snipers at my wedding’ pity party anecdote) and yet crave it at the same time. It must be like dealing with a four year old.

I think the 'snipers at my wedding' thing was a sort of humble brag. Look at how important and under threat we are. Same with all those puff piece articles about Meghan making specific reference to her 'security' something I've never seen for any other high profile person, although presumably many of them have discreet security.

As we've discussed before, people genuinely worried about their security wouldn't make the choices these two have done. It's all about prestige, envy and status.

StartupRepair · 10/04/2025 11:13

He also as a wild young man had security cleaning up after his behaviour like in Las Vegas, paying off people, deleting photos and getting nda's signed. Like much in his life it all just magically happened.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/04/2025 11:13

If he is that bothered about security why does he consistently keep turning down the offer to stay in a royal residence when he is visiting the UK over choosing to stay in hotels

As mentioned before, @teacherteacher1, he may consider that a "security risk" too if he thinks they'd try to bug his calls home Hmm

And I agree royal security tends to be very discreet, @IcedPurple - or at least it was with the late Queen where it was fun playing "spot the hood"
I've noticed, though, that the guys with Charles are often much more visible ...

I thought 'bespoke' was always better than 'standard' being that it means a product or service has been specifically designed to meet an individual's needs. How they can argue that it's inferior is very odd.

Exactly this!

DelectableMe · 10/04/2025 11:29

I notice that William and George sat in the crowd at the Villa match last night. They obviously had discreet security, but it just looked like they were regular fans. A good normalisation experience for George.

ViolasandViolets · 10/04/2025 11:32

Harry’s paranoia is off the scale.

Paranoia is a common effect of cannabis. Just saying…

There have also been rumours they had to intervene/clear up during at least one of bachelor Africa jaunts.

You're right.

This sounds terribly ominous.

Also of cocaine, and the amount of nose-wiping Harry was doing while seated in court was hard to miss

Of course he'd no doubt just got a cold or hayfever ...

Typo

William was interviewed by Ally McCoist and Rio Ferdinand before the game. He really does know his football. George looked as if he was enjoying himself.

It appears that the woman who shouted out at Harry is indeed part of the SS

I saw these last night Clearly a Sussex Squad stunt as he has happily taken selfies with her in the past ... yet now it's a "threat" played out for the court

Also the fact that she was sitting on the row in front of him at an event (Invictus Games?) must mean she was approved by his security team to be that close

DelectableMe · 10/04/2025 12:29

Oh my god. So pathetic. Using the Sussex Squad now 🙄

Weepixie · 10/04/2025 12:31

The are completely and utterly devoid of any common sense. Did they really think no one would ever realise who this woman is?

Lunde · 10/04/2025 12:34

Is Meghan trying to sabotage his appeal by sending squaddies as she has no intention of coming to the UK, or allowing the children to travel - if he should win?

I saw a Crazy Days and Nights “ Blind” alluding to that and thought surely not but looks like the were right ( as they often are)

I wonder what the elite Royal Marines make of their former Captain General, a man who has been an army officer in his own right, being hustled away from a Court that already has security because of the "danger" presented by one of his own "fans"?

Thank God he was never involved with the Paras.

Welcometothewhitelotus · 10/04/2025 12:44

Harry talking about security is reminding me of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos (that turned out to be a con). She was a big one for security, not just for the firm but for herself. She had more personal security than Rupert Murdoch! I think he questioned the need for so many bodyguards. She was probably trying to project an image but it does show what’s actually needed and how people who do need it know roughly what’s proportionate.

Wasn't there talk (from markle) about being in The Bodyguard as the lead with Kevin Costner 😂😂 deluded little minx, he really enjoyed them being at his 1st responder charity do! Microphone grab

DelectableMe · 10/04/2025 12:55

Also there are "snipers" police marksmen, at every state occasion, and where the monarch attends. There were extras at Anne's wedding because of an IRA threat.

HonoriaBulstrode · 10/04/2025 13:05

Yes, I was going to mention that. They seem to have had a great evening (other than the result). Obviously they couldn't pre-arrange the date of the match to coincide with the hearing, but it did rather show up the nonsense being spouted in court!

I do hope H isn't passing on this paranoia to his children. They are of an age when they will begin to notice things.
