I thought I would start a separate thread to discuss the court case which started today. I for one am still baffled as to why Harry thinks that his treatment has been unreasonable, given that he no longer lives in the UK, but is still given security on a case by case basis when he visits. This seems perfectly reasonable to me 🤷‍♀️

I'm prepared to be told I've got this wrong, but was Harry's barrister trying to make out that he and Meghan decided to leave the UK because they were told they were no longer getting IPP? 🤔

The thing is, it's of no importance to the nation whether or not he 'brings' his family to Britain, or indeed whether he himself ever visits again. I'm not sure he understands this.

Not to mention that nobody in any position of authority would want any harm to come to the son and grandchildren of the King. If risk assessments conclude that he and his family require security, it will of course be provided so long as he cooperates with the relevant bodies. That is more than fair and reasonable.

This 'case is simply not logical. It's all about spite and jealousy.

I don't think national importance is his priority. He wants to bring his kids and have them be safe for personal reasons. Not defending him, to be clear.

Yes, she was certainly trying to suggest it. I'm not sure why she felt it necessary to go through Megxit again.

Snorlaxo · 08/04/2025 17:31

I’m surprised that the NYC non-fatal car chase came up in this case when it was a source of ridicule for Harry who can’t be the only one who was filming that night. It’s surprising that he didn’t sell that footage to Netflix.
If it happened in London, I’m in no doubt that someone would have filmed something on their camera phone or offered their Ring doorbell or CCTV footage for money.

Why would they not be safe?
The government KC has made it clear: Harry (and by extension his family) will get appropriate security for their needs.
Why would they not? The Home Office would not wish to put them at risk.

Does anyone know how much this has cost the taxpayer so far? Not all his cases, just this one?

£618,622 according to Nick Ferrari on LBC.

So much for their supporters claiming that the Sussexes don’t cost us anything. 🙄

MummyJ12 · 08/04/2025 17:36

Link to it on X if anyone is interested.

Why would they not be safe ? They could stay in a Royal residence which has 24/7 security and could visit other Royal residences to catch up with family . I am sure KC would be happy to offer rooms in BP or Clarence House.

Lunde · 08/04/2025 17:37

I think Harry loves the US-style "Presidential" security - the big motorcade of black SUVs with tinted windows, the big burly bodyguards packing guns who push everybody back and out of the way ... it makes him feel very important but the cost is eye watering now that he pays himself.

The royals tend to go for much lower key security. It's not uncommon for the royals to be seen on train platforms without much obvious security. I don't doubt that it's there but the role of the royals is to been seen and talk to the public not for the public to be pushed around by 6' 5 bodyguards.

So RPOs seem much more hands-off. In fact there are only a handful of times that I have have seen royal protection intervene in recent years. One was when someone chucked eggs at the King. Another was where an American tourist grabbed Kate's hair to pull her down to get a selfie. But both times there was no drama and the engagement just continued.

binkie163 · 08/04/2025 17:41

@Lunde I suspect the bodyguards are his only male friends, he doesn't get out much.

Nah. He wants to be important. He has already been in the UK under the radar, which proves it can be done, and as many posters have said, he gets security if it is deemed necessary. He doesn’t bring the kids because Meghan doesn’t want them to come without her imo, and she doesn’t want to come to the UK

I think that is what he wants people to think !
it’s far from the truth in most peoples opinion.

SirRaymondClench · 08/04/2025 17:47

Bizarre that Harry doesn't feel safe in the UK where we have no guns, yet lives and walks about freely in the US which is the land of guns.
This whole court case from the very beginning has cost the tax payer a fortune just so Harry can stamp his feet that he isn't a major royal any more.

I always thought he needed someone like the Queen Mother was to George VI, or how Camilla seems to be with Charles. 'Come on, I know you don't fancy it today, but we'll have a little laugh in the car on the way and there'll be a nice lunch. Just a few hands to shake - they will be looking forward to seeing you - and we can be home in the bath with gin and tonics by 6 30. I've got a bag of toffees and and 20 Woodbines in my handbag for the journey. Let's bounce!'

Exactly!!!!

It’s funny that bespoke doesn’t mean special or even unique when being “better” than his brother is an obvious motivation for him.

This is like that bloody extra sausage all over again.

I'm not saying they aren't but I'm not harry. One reason he sited about not staying in residence was the only exit was visible so that was considered not good enough.

😮 that's almost the price of two packets of Dutchy Original biscuits.

Joking aside though that is an insane amount of money and I'm boggling at the arrogance and entitlement on show they they think it's fine "cause they deserve it".

He has travelled in and out of the UK many times for all of those court cases without an issue. He and Meghan were in the UK for weeks around the Queen's Jubilee and again for her death and did private work for their companies without incident

He had a property at Frogmore within the grounds of Windsor Castle that must have great security - but gave it up.

He was offered apartments at Buckingham Palace - access to that huge secluded garden, swimming pool etc. But he turned it down.

These cases come from Harry trying to create relevance in a country where he no longer has any official role, plus a bit of homesickness for the life he chose to give up.

He'd probably suspect the RF of listening in to his calls home, Mylovelygreendress Grin

And I thought that was a very insightful post about Harry needing someone who'd have "babied him along", @PigglyWigglyOhYeah
That's not who he chose though, and here we are

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 08/04/2025 18:00

I think we're seeing the real Harry. The one without the heavy management. He's arrogant, petulant and entitled and very clearly resents everything that William has. He's like a toddler having a never ending tantrum - and frankly I am bloody resentful of what this constant legal action is costing the taxpayer.
