Well I am speechless actually.
I just want to put out there that MM mocking Mindy Kaling's accent in her ridiculous show apparently went down badly in India and among Indian communities online who considered it to be belittling and racist.

Thing is, every time I feel Harry and Meghan cannot possibly be any more nasty and venal and vicious, they surprise me all over again.

there can't be anyone anywhere on the planet who keeps shooting themselves in the foot quite so effectively. It is mind-boggling. You would think.they would have learnt to just be quiet by now !

Weepixie · 01/04/2025 09:10

I have never repeated this, but there a lot of people on social media who claim Meghan herself is a racist

I suspect, and always have done, that she chose the path she wanted to walk with regards to race. Being black has never appeared to be part of her core identity until it came in useful.

Awful statement, would have been better if the 'friend' had said nothing:

Jealousy
Victimhood
Misogynoir
Racism
Sexism
Dellusion

It's all in there.
Who would have thought you could get all of the above into one short statement, extraordinary.

Keep digging!

After the quitting statement I could've sworn they were going to stay silent and wait for the CC report. That lasted for approximately all of 3 days.

I guess Harry was only able to keep a lid on his racist core for so long.

I have never repeated this, but there a lot of people on social media who claim Meghan herself is a racist.

I think they have both shown their true colours with that statement,

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Harry absolutely as he comes from the most colonial white family of white families. Meghan is more a side effect of narcissism. Narcs have a flimsy sense of self and tend to invent and act out versions of themselves that best fit whichever context they're in. They use this chameleon persona to extract narcissistic supply from others.

Narcs are always a fine line away from intense self-loathing whenever they feel they are being outshadowed or their supply is dropping. It was clear that Meghan was very triggered by Dr Sophie's presence on stage because it made her feel inferior or potentially outshadowed for a moment. Now they are literally projecting this onto Dr Sophie instead (DARVO tactic). It's not racism per se, but Sophie's blackness was an inherent reason that Meghan disliked her presence and felt threatened by her on the photo.

It was clear from the video clip that Dr Sophie was hoping to hold onto the trophy and she would have naturally ended up standing on the other side of Harry. However Meghan was adamant in forcing her to stay at least one person away from Harry, maybe for fear that he might put an arm around her for the photo or something. It was a clear moment of personal jealousy or disgust, which again, is not classic racism but definitely contains race as factor. This dynamic is familiar to many people in interracial relationships.

Thedom · 01/04/2025 09:15

Someone on Reddit pointed out possible evidence that Meghan wrote it, as the 'lackey' referred to Harry as 'H', and Harrys friends call him Haz. Meghan is the only one who calls him H.

H is very happy for me to speak for him about how he feels about this awful situation,’

TheMeasure · 01/04/2025 09:17

I presume that, once Alex Rayner had written that pile of nonsense, he handed it over to Harry to approve? Which he did?
What an absolute shit-show this is turning out to be.

RandyRedHumpback · 01/04/2025 09:20

Does Harry friend not understand risk assessment? As an event organiser, you have to risk asses (at least you do in the UK). Having two high profile, high security needs people turn up to an event. no doubt with their entourages and gun totin' security in tow, would throw a massive curveball into any risk assessor's thought through plan. And whilst risk assessments are supposed to be dynamic, it would be difficult to adjust on the day for this type of last minute, no notice change.

SC said MM had said she would not be there. To turn up without notice and to then muscle in on a ceremony you were not supposed to be taking part in is just the height of arrogance and rudeness. His mate is a racist and sexist POS to have decided this was about the race and sex of the people involved - as opposed to their respective roles within the event and Sentebale. MM having zero role within either, and SC actually being the primary representative of both the event (as its organiser) and the organisation (as its chair).

JandamiHash · 01/04/2025 00:04

I actually forget they’ve divorced - sorry, “consciously uncoupled”…a google tells me Gwyneth got remarried and Chris is dating Dakota Johnson!

I think GP did this soley for her own reputational and commercial advantage - no one elses. She was likely attacked by a swarm of SS and needed to nip it in the bud. She was in charge and it was for her benefit. She basically got MM to say that there was no beef but she didnt say or act like she was a friend.

potsandmud · 01/04/2025 09:37

Alex Rayners sharing of thoughts has MM penmanship all over this. She’s not very bright. You can see the thought process “oh people will believe that SC is a racist or some other dark malevolent force at hand, because obviously WE wouldn’t say that if it wasn’t true!!!!” Nadine Dorries piece in mail was spot on. She’s such a narc and he is too. I fear that it won’t end well for them unless they STFU.

CoffeeCantata · 01/04/2025 09:38

Mylovelygreendress · 01/04/2025 08:34

In what way was SC - a successful lawyer, businesswoman and Chair of Sentebale - NOT the most important woman of colour on the stage ?

Edited

This times a million!

I admit it, Sussex supporters - I am now actually frothing, just for the record. I thought nothing could surprise me any more about those two idiots, but this affair and the utterly tone-deaf, entitlement-reeking statement of Alex Rayner has blown my gasket.

Who on earth could imagine that the nobody, Meghan, could be more important than Sophie Chandauka in this context?? The original podium crassness was bad enough, but talk about adding insult to injury. They really do believe that they are blessing us all with their presence.

Meghan - that feminist role model whose entire position in life has depended on being 'elevated' by her father, uncle, partners and husbands? How far does she imagine she would have cliimbed without exploiting the men in her life? Ugh - feminist my a*. How deluded do she and Harry have to be to think that she could compare herself to someone like Dr Chandauka?? My God.

CoffeeCantata · 01/04/2025 09:41

Should add that - I sometimes ponder what their mindset and motives must be to behave so badly everywhere, but tend to think - that's ridiculous - no adult would really think like that.

But now we know just how pathetic, conceited, narcissistic and stupid they really are. Thanks, Alex Rayner, for making it absolutely explicit and in writing too. I wonder how Harry will wriggle out of what's been said here once the press reaction kicks in?

Something tells me the new PR may not have been fully across this media carnage. I think he’s delusional. This is really not good on any level. It makes him look bitter, unhinged, misogynistic, and completely departed from reality. Even to point out that the polo venue fuck up was an admin error is so wrong. It just goes to show how stupid he is. Venues offer knock down prices for charity of course they do. ENTIRELY different if Netflix want in as a COMMERCIAL entity. It’s got nothing to do with sponsors not wanting coverage - it’s the fact that they don’t want to be entangled in a very murky world where H&M are using charity as a commercial platform to their own brand and interests. EVERYONE can see it apart from them. Why should a venue at the lowest common denominator offer a cheap rate knowing that this is essentially now a TV shoot and therefore a completely different thing to a polo match. Why does everyone have to bend to what they want without any say in the matter let alone money changing hands. He is so naive and stupid it’s not true.

The DM gave H enough rope to hang himself there. (BTW the irony of Harry the Dragonslayer using the DM of all papers to settle a score.)

JandamiHash · 01/04/2025 09:46

My prediction/ the DM was chosen so if it backfired in Harry’s face he could deny he had anything to do with it on the premise of “I would NEVER go to the Daily Mail”

Skimpyy · 01/04/2025 09:46

Profhilodisaster · 01/04/2025 07:24

If you are a sponsor then of course you would want the exposure from a Netflix documentary, so this whole story seems simply untrue

This completely misses the point that if Netflix had turned up at the polo match it would have changed the whole event from a charitable one to a commercial one , which is the reason the venue owners changed the terms and wanted to charge for the use of the polo field.

But she didnt refuse the NF filming.

Seems she did backflips to accomodate - had to move to a new venue at short notice.

So should have been a win / win (did Senetbale get more donations after the NF Polo doc?).

But that wasnt enough MM had to disrupt with her unannouced attendance, bringing high profile extra guests and then hogging the stage and bossing everyone about. And then demanding a public explanation after the world critised her pushy dominant behaviour (which has been seen many times before and since).

Yes, they win both ways by having this scoop.

They get to present themselves as balanced whilst knowing how their readers will respond, AND they will undoubtedly pick up on the race angle for the next headline this afternoon or tomorrow.

I bet they couldn't believe their luck when the statement landed with them.

SC is being fed to the wolves here - but in this case, the wolves have their eye on the bigger prize.

Vespanest · 01/04/2025 09:49

I have a feeling the agreement was an anonymous friends speaks out on behalf of Harry but was not clearly stipulated and Alex has managed to drag them all in.

ViolasandViolets · 01/04/2025 09:55

Just thinking about Aunty Anne - she had a one big advantage that all the princes lack; a genuine talent for something. A focus on something (horses) where you are respected for your talent, rather than just because of your royal connection, must make it so much easier to find your own place in the world.

Uricon2 · 01/04/2025 09:55

"‘H is very happy for me to speak for him about how he feels about this awful situation,’ said Rayner. "

This sentence removes any plausible deniability that "H" might have had when the truly awful misogynoir in that piece is highlighted, and it will be and not just on the MN RF board.

Another day, another direct shot to the foot.

ETA let alone the ridiculous "set up with a schoolfriend" statement, when it is widely known it was Prince Seesio who is 18 years older than Harry. This guy is a comms expert?

Not to mention “The British Royal Family”. A British person wouldn’t say that.

A British person also wouldn’t claim a spare is the “hope” of the RF. Sounds like the delusions straight from H&M. The same H&M who thought William destroyed them because he was jealous that they “did a better job” at being a working Royal then he did

And a huge dose of humility and a cracking sense of humour

do Brits use the word stink?

Profhilodisaster · 01/04/2025 10:05

H is very happy for me to speak for him about how he feels about this awful situation,’ said Rayner

This is so pathetic, a bit like getting your mum to make a doctors appointment for you as an 18 year old because don't know what to say .

Why couldn't Harry make a statement via his comms team , why get your mate to speak for you?

MyCatIsTheHeadChef · 01/04/2025 10:05

All good points. Lurking media commentators - care to find out who the statement was written by? Eagle-eyed MNettters have a very likely possibility.

Only if they inhabit a Jeeves & Wooster novel.
