Samantha Markle will turn up in full black veil wailing. The Mail will be invited and will make 7000 stories out of it.

Piers Morgan as chief mourner !

Wow. So you are attacking one of the women who has suffered the most misogynistic and racist attacks by the media that I can think of and the use of the word bitchy is what you are concerned about.
I will take your criticism on board though as it's valid. What I won't do is not think what you are saying about Markle is nasty.

I never attacked Meghan.
I've never been nasty about her.
She's doing her own thing with the cooking and the Netflix? Good luck to her.
At least it's honest work.
Plus, I'd read her book.

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 14/03/2025 09:23

@primrosei why does Megan and Doria owe Thomas Markle anything? I don't know why when it comes to Megan people always have something negative to say. I have family members that I have gone NC with and would not attend their funerals when they die. I have read about many people on Mumsnet that have gone NC with family members but when it comes to Megan, she is evil because she has gone NC with her toxic family. Her feelings and mental health doesn't seem to matter to anyone

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 14/03/2025 09:28

@CatsWhiskerz do you know her personally? I am wondering how you know this details about her. I am guessing you are a DM subscriber

Mydahliasareshit · 14/03/2025 09:30

This man said the other day, selling his daughter out AGAIN, that Megan should have kept HIS name and not her husband's when she got married.
He's a complete nonsense. Why should she pander to it!

The vitriol towards this woman has reached maniacal levels lately. Is there some sort of cash-for-insults deal going on in the media?

Also there seems to be a converted effort to bring Doria into this. Why? Because she birthed The Most Evil Person on the Planet? ( Someone on the other thread said she was worse than Trump!) The poor woman is as far as I know just getting on with her business. She hasn't sold anyone out to the tabloids or slagged anyone off.

His other daughter changed her name back to Markle so she could cash in. It's hardly surprising she doesn't want to be Markle. I kept my maiden name partly because I loved my dad and he was an inspiration to me. He also never sold me out to the press then blackmailed me to force me to take my kids to see him.

Samcro · 14/03/2025 09:46

why the fuck would Doria go to his funeral......and why would Meghan, the father who tried to balckmail her. who knows what else he has done.

Jamfirstest · 14/03/2025 10:22

Probably nothing. I was estranged from my father when he died and it took a year before anyone told me. I told my mum myself. I've never asked my sister about the will. I assumed a lawyer would contact me if they needed to.
I always really related to Meghan about this issue. She's a strange character but TM is awful and I understand why she reminded herself from that situation.

CoffeeCantata · 14/03/2025 12:53

The Markles seem to be a horrendously screwed-up bunch in general.

I've read bits over the years, but I genuinely still don't understand just what is the basis of the estrangement between Meghan and her father? Please can someone just give me a couple of bullet points. Was it about him contacting the press before the wedding and a rather silly photo-session buying his suit or something? That's all I've picked up on, but if there's more - please, please explain because those things do not seem enough to banish your parent from your life. I get that he might be an embarrassing dad, but if that was all, surely the quarrel would have been mended by now?

PrestonHood121 · 14/03/2025 13:14

Well she certainly used her uncle’s death as an excuse when “she didn’t mean to mislead the court” about the letter she wrote her father that he “leaked” to the media. Well, that he gave to the papers after the People magazine interview with those 6 anonymous “close friends” of Meghan who mentioned it thoroughly. The letter she had to admit to the Judge she wrote to tug at people”s heartstrings when it gets out. History repeats and all that.

Tomatotater · 14/03/2025 13:16

I'm not sure either tbh what started it. It was initially the suit thing, then she wrote a letter to him which got into the press. I don't suppose anyone really knows what has happened between them but the whole family have been busy running to the press to sell stories about her so it sounds like she's well within her rights ( as anyone is) to distance from him and them. If Thomas Markle wanted to see her he wouldn't have slagged her off to the DM just days ago.

This is probably worrying accurate.

Oh and MN will have 10,000 threads on it, and not just on the RF board either 😬.

CatsWhiskerz · 13/03/2025 22:04

She uses people, drips them
And moves on, family/friends/staff etc makes no difference, she won't give a fuck unless she can make money or PR out of it

Oh do you know Meghan? Have you actually spoken to the woman? because your posts suggest you've actually met

Letstheriveranswer · 14/03/2025 13:38

Meghan won't attend the funeral since she hasn't bothered with her father for years. She will however release a poignant black and white image of her visiting a cemetery, and a few months later will do a Netflix episode where she talks about the depth of her grief and makes out that her family turned her father against her.

Some people just let their imagination run wild!

It would be true to her history, no imagination was needed!
We can come back to this thread and see, in the future!

People don't necessarily owe anything to shitty parents. Not even funeral attendance.

Family relationships are complicated and outsiders looking in have no right to dictate to anyone how they should conduct theirs.

And it's not ok to say to people that "oh they were flawed" or "they tried their best" or "no one's perfect", so they should forgive and move on. Sometimes parents fall short through no particular malice, just because they're flawed people, but ultimately if the harm they're causing is greater than the good in the relationship, then self-preservation kicks in.

No MM fan but a lot of people on here should butt out.

Yet again, unlike in MN land, I don't know anyone who has no contact with their parents, even those with less than perfect parents. Only here do children expect their parents to be perfect and if they are not they ditch them. I know a man whose father was awful to his wife and children, yet the son still kept in contact, visited him in hospital, organised his funeral etc.

As far as I know Thomas Markle hasn't actually done anything that terrible, he's not a wife or child beater. As far as I can see his charming daughter is no better than him with her blatant lies, and if someone who cuts her family off marries someone and suddenly his family, who he seemed perfectly happy with, is also cut off then I begin to wonder who the actual fault lies with.

Incidentally, are parents allowed to not attend the funerals of shitty children?

primrosei · 13/03/2025 20:09

Would Megan and Doria attend the funeral? Surely they owe him that?

Up to them, why do you care

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 14/03/2025 20:37

There will be a whole new podcast series. ‘The Healing Power of Grief’. All about ‘strong women who have survived grief and found their heartsong/love language’(insert whatever nauseating, twatty expression you prefer here.). We’ll hear all about Meghan being a tower of strength for poor broken reed Harry when ‘his grandmother’ died, how she has been healing conduit of reflection and reconciliation to the Markle Clan and how she has been just amazingly marvellous to that poor women she regularly trots out who lost her son. Not to mention the ‘healing power of community’ in Uvalde and ‘our shared grief and the power to rebuild’ about the fires in LA.

I’m getting my sick bucket lined up ready.

Thomas Markle was estranged from all his children until Meghan turned up and became someone they could all make money from slagging off. His other children are all estranged from their children. They are all a very screwed up family, and Thomas is the common denominator.

CoffeeCantata · 16/03/2025 17:23

Wow - I didn't realise they were ALL at war with each other.

I know little about Thomas Markle - but what I have seen of him on TV didn't impress me. The way he reacted to Meghan's engagement to Harry came over to me as flippant and disrespectful. I remember thinking 'I hope the Queen doesn't see this!' It wasn't the impression most people would want to make with the family of their child's prospective in-laws, royal or not.

Meghan's upbringing must have been truly dysfunctional. Strange father, spending so much time on film/TV sets, mysteriously absent mother and not very nice half-siblings. No wonder that woman is as screwed up as she is.

EmpressOfTheThread · 16/03/2025 17:51

Yes, I agree, @CoffeeCantata . Going after school to the tv set her Dad was working on.
She says she was a latchkey kid who was given tv dinners. It didn't sound like great parenting.

Pointynoseowner · 16/03/2025 18:07

I dunno ,what a strange question.....
