I noticed the old thread is almost full so thought we could start a new one to carry on the discussion about the rebrand and merching.

Are you an ‘As Ever’ or ‘Whatever’?

It's actually true what someone has said above. Why is Harry being left out of this ? Is it because they " separated professionally " recently? Is she seen as the " brains" of the two of them? There is so much damning press out there now it must be hard to take even for someone convinced they are so special.
Realistically what is the way forward for them now?
See out the Netflix show, let things fade and when the contract ends later in the year just pare back to a more quiet life?

TheMeasure · 20/02/2025 20:10

@Uricon2 Sorry I'm being a bit dim here but egg on whose faces? The media's? Why?

The media who are currently writing mocking/ critical stories in some number. It does seem a bit dispropotionate to the ARO/Evs relaunch, however hapless it is, but they won't want to appear out of step if something bigger happens.

ET add a bit I forgot.

Well she did a disappearing act when he was taking the heat for Spare. And she's ruined Invictus for him. Maybe he's told her to sod off if she wants his help now.

Aloeveraplants · 20/02/2025 20:26

Literally the only thing that might bring in the sort of money they need is a fly on the wall series chronicling their lives. Lots of people would tune in to gawp and poke fun.

Does anyone else remember how the British Press had, but did not publish, all the dirt on Macca's second wife until he filed for divorce? They all span it as respect for Macca. (Probably more for his deep pockets.)

She was, according to the judge who precided over the divorce, a delusional liar who claimed a false philanthropic history.

a delusional liar who claimed a false philanthropic history.

That cap fits. Yes I have often that Heather and Meghan share similar NPD charcacteristics - grandiose and delusional.

"Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism."

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20366662

Symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and how severe they are can vary. People with the disorder can:

  • Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration.
  • Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment.
  • Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements.
  • Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are.
  • Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.
  • Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people.
  • Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important.
  • Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them.
  • Take advantage of others to get what they want.
  • Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
  • Be envious of others and believe others envy them.
  • Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited.
  • Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office.
At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they view as criticism. They can:
  • Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special recognition or treatment.
  • Have major problems interacting with others and easily feel slighted.
  • React with rage or contempt and try to belittle other people to make themselves appear superior.
  • Have difficulty managing their emotions and behavior.
  • Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change.
  • Withdraw from or avoid situations in which they might fail.
  • Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection.
  • Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, humiliation and fear of being exposed as a failure.

The bottom half of these symptoms may explain her persistent bullying behaviours

What is this crap now that Mindy is saying ? It's laughable ! How stupid are some of these people? 😂

As Ever #2 Whatever
MissFenellaPrism · 20/02/2025 21:04

😂😂
Mindy, it's just lights, love. She's not solved the Middle East Crisis.
Also, why isn't Archie credited as a Princes, but his sister is a Princess? Mmmmm

BunnyLake · 20/02/2025 21:04

@BorneoBop I won’t quote your post but that sounds utterly exhausting. You need a lot of (nervous?) energy to be a narc.

OvaHere · 20/02/2025 21:06

I'm a bit late to the party reading about any of this. Can someone explain what connection she has to that sensual cookbook from earlier in the thread?

Vespanest · 20/02/2025 21:08

I'm not sure there is a smoking gun with the press but more that the US media has turned. So much has been made that the nasty British press is responsible for all their negativity. the press seemed to do the right thing the last few months and left them alone and even some positive reporting. The majority of the coverage now appears to be repeating of already printed stuff from the US. None of this can be laid at the feet of the British public this is their own doing and the mighty US who according to Harry had no tabloids.

Do you really think Meghan wants a quiet life ? Her whole life has been about being g rich and famous and she loves the camera so I can’t see her accepting a quiet life in a downsized house.

@AtIusvue thanks for The Telegraph article. This section made me laugh out loud.

"It was destined to sell a frankly bizarre range of unrelated products that brought to mind the children’s memory game My Grandmother Went To Market.
Commentators were baffled to see a list including tea, olive oil, pet shampoo, the aforementioned jam and – wait for it – wallpaper. No offence, but maybe granny needs a check-up?"

In all seriousness though it did make you wonder what is going on in the background. I'm not sure Harry has the mental fortitude to cope with his wife being attacked like this.

For me I was thinking The Generation Game conveyor belt 'Teasmade, canteen of cutlery, cuddly toy, toaster....'

Edited

Eerily reminiscent of the "Where's Kate" coverage of last year, where the American media went full throttle, and the UK press joined in mainly by covering what American commentators were saying.

It won't stop their dim supporters trotting out the boring "Daily Fail" line.

Yes it’s weird. Maybe another example of them pigeonholing their children into “serious question asking Archie” (asking about land mines) and cute, girly princessy Lili. Except she’s always “Princess Lilibet”, not Lili 🤷‍♀️

Just remembered the original Vanity Fair profile and cover story of MM from 2017 - when she erupted because they didnt focus on all her philanthropic work in the write up .... and the editor said it was because the researchers found no evidence of such work by MM.

Uncanny similarities with Heather.

BasiliskStare · 20/02/2025 21:21

@DuchessDissasster I scarcely dare say this but I agree with Meghan about using little lamps IF by that she means normal table lamps / side lamps I do think it makes things cosier , especially if entertaining . BUT CAVEAT if she is talking specifically about a children's party then overhead lights perfectly OK and possibly completely necessary if it's dark outside and you need to see the little rascals properly.

But , full disclosure, my credo is table lamps/ side lights pretty much all the time not just entertaining ( except obvious places kitchen bathroom etc where you need to see what you are doing ) . I learned this at my mother's knee . If we were in the sitting room with the overhead light on she would go round turning on the table lamps whilst saying - why have you got the big light on and then switch it off .

Now, such is my fanciness, I have a 5amp circuit where I can turn all the table lamps on at once in my sitting room. Behold my lifestyle genius 😂

Edited to add - I actually bored myself there 😂

We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us have lots of little table lamps.

Whatever is Mindy smoking?

Vespanest · 20/02/2025 21:27

I'm the opposite with lighting, I like it bright or natural light. Mood lighting just makes me fell that someone is hiding their dirt. I have no idea why you'd need mood lighting at toddlers parties.

Lifestooshort71 · 20/02/2025 21:33

Overhead lighting gives me a headache so I also go round turning them off in favour of eye-level table lamps (but I'm in my 70s if that makes a difference).

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 21:36

Can't decide if not putting the big light on when you've got visitors is more Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire or Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest.

BasiliskStare · 20/02/2025 21:36

@Lifestooshort71 I like the cut of your jib 😊

But from the brief clip we've seen, the episode takes place in some kind of summerhouse?

Kids parties aren't really evening affairs!

Nice to know Meghan isn't a Big Light person though.

MissRoseDurward · 20/02/2025 21:52

"It was destined to sell a frankly bizarre range of unrelated products that brought to mind the children’s memory game My Grandmother Went To Market.

The version I was familiar with was objects on a tray, which you had a short time to look at before it was covered up, then you had to remember as many as you could. It was called Kim's Game because in the Kipling novel the young hero Kim practised it as part of his training to be a spy.
