He does actually look cute there though! 🤣

That was before the British Press ruined him. Or was it his family? I forget which. Maybe both.

MM would be in her absolute element in a popemobile. It’s certainly a step up from a golf buggy🤣

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:00

Not even Harry would stoop to that surely! 🤣

dorathexplorer · 17/02/2025 13:08

I'm sure Harry is determined to come to Birmingham but it's a long time away. As we know so much happens in SussexWorld in such short spaces of time.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:09

Doonnttt! , don't tempt fate @dorathexplorer !

MissFenellaPrism · 17/02/2025 13:10

Yes, the laws known to the rest of the world are not always known in SussexWorld.

Security issue - it's all a bunch of crap isn't it?

It is.

Having a few over enthusiastic fans crowd around you isn't a 'security scare'. And you certainly don't need specialist protection officers to deal with it.

Given the presence of international dignatories and military figures, security will have been pretty tight at the IG. Anyone there will likely have had to go through security checks. Harry was in no danger whatsoever.

It was William in cahoots with Camilla .

MissRoseDurward · 17/02/2025 12:20

... the apparent. 'Scare' was actually only people wanting photos and selfies!

Decent security should have anticipated that people might surge forward and ensured there was a clear path or space as Harry approached.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this particular "scare" wasn't so much a crowd surging as some lad who saw Harry a few seats away and grabbed his phone for a selfie - which is why I understood security wanting to avoid the idea spreading

You're right about crowd security however, but I'd have hoped they'd have thought of/planned for that, even though the crowds don't look that big?

Mylovelygreendress · 17/02/2025 12:49

When is the RAVEC case ? I have lost track of his cases .

I think April but I too have lost track.

It's only an appeal so will be heard privately. I can't see how this can achieve what Harry wants it to achieve. Even if the appeal is successful, and the judge made it clear that it only barely reached the threshold for an appeal, then all that will happen is that Harry's file gets sent back to RAVEC for review, after which RAVEC will very likely come to the same decision all over again.

Harry simply isn't within the small category of people deemed to require round the clock security at all times. That won't change.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:21

That did happen @Puzzledandpissedoff but that was earlier, it was later that ' more people ' wanted selfies!

Ah, fair enough jeff; I obviously missed the earlier incident, though in some ways I'm surprised if Harry sanctioned reports of a "security scare" at one of the only things where he'll still get any credit

That said it's all grist to the mill I suppose ...

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:28

I'm sad to say , I'm not surprised any more @Puzzledandpissedoff !
I've never liked the narrative that Meghan was to blame for Harry's behaviour!
He's proven himself to be just as capable of being greedy , grasping and arrogant!

BasiliskStare · 17/02/2025 13:32

@jeffgoldblum folie a deux perhaps 😊

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:32

Indeed @BasiliskStare , indeed!

Security issue - it's all a bunch of crap isn't it?

Absolute nonsense. And you can tell the positioning of it is deliberate PR from his side - he takes any opportunity given to suggest he's under severe threat - a bit like at the I think WellChild event a couple of years ago where he made some big fuss about paparazzi and how their exit was blocked or something which turned out to be nothing.

Fans wanting a selfie might be a nuisance but they're not a threat and are absolutely part and parcel of celebrity life which he and his wife are seeking.

I couldn't agree more, jeff. This thing of blaming the women for whatever's done really isn't to my taste, though god knows the RF have ridden the back of it for years

Without doubt there are things to criticise Meghan for, but whatever her "influence" that doesn't include things Harry has elected to do himself, even if making his own choices would risk a polar atmosphere at home

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:43

Absolutely right @Puzzledandpissedoff !
I know posters don't like us bringing up 'old' things but got me the examples are , the Netflix curtsy... yes Harry did indeed look angry but he allowed that to continue, he allowed it to be broadcast , he did nothing .

On Oprah, after he arrived... yes he seemed surprised at the narrative about the racist comment but , he didn't row it back he allowed it to stand.

So for me he's just as bad , if not worse!

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:44

Sorry no edit again ! Excuse typos!

dorathexplorer · 17/02/2025 13:56

I had assumed it had to be something bigger than that surely? One teenage boy wanting a selfie?

dorathexplorer · 17/02/2025 13:57

Was more thinking a crush of people trying to get close to him ... perhaps subsequent news reports will clarify.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2025 13:59

The lack of front page news about it means it's not serious!
No media wants a rehash of the "high speed car chase" 🙄

Uricon2 · 17/02/2025 14:00

Totally agree @jeffgoldblum . Contrary to what some would say, these threads are just as critical ( frequently more) of Harry as they are of Meghan. He is IMO usually much better than her at public interactions and you can at times see what looks like genuine warmth and interest, but that doesn't give him a free pass for the stuff he's done or allowed to happen.

I think Harry is far worse than Meghan. She's an outsider. Yes, she should have informed herself, yes, it wouldn't have hurt to listen to advice or open a book, but Harry ought to have informed her properly. Either he never listened to anyone and was completely clueless, or he didn't want to tell her all the ins and outs.

She wouldn't have listened.

She's not known for taking good advice on board, and marriage into the royal family brought her fame, wealth and status beyond her wildest dreams. No way she was letting go of that, no matter how often she was warned about the realities. And in any case she's so fabulous she'd soon have shown the royals how it's really done.
