Would it get any media attention at all if it weren't for 'the Sussex shenanigans'? I'm not sure it would. Of course it's valuable to those who participate, but it's not the sort of thing that would draw a lot of interest outside those directly involved and their families. The stadium seems mostly empty even with tickets being given away for free.

Most of their funding seems to come from big corporate sponsors like Boeing. I suspect they're the ones paying for all those private jets.

Quite.

While it was televised by royal-grovelling Auntie way back when even she now seems to have recognised the ratings stalling vanity project it's always been.

Time to fold it into the Paralympics and starve the Harolds of its cashIMO

It would seem that Meghan only ever attends part of Invictus so that's fair enough.

I did wonder if it was a PR move, come for a bit, maximum impact then leave everyone wanting more. A bit like arriving late to a party then leaving early? I don't know. The missing their kids always seems a bit odd, they like to labour it a bit.

Who exactly is 'wanting more'?

JoyousGreyOrca · 12/02/2025 21:02

Or maybe Meghan comes for a bit to support her husband, and then goes back to her children?

Well not me, but I'm not the target audience. I'm just trying to understand why because none of what Harry and Meghan do makes any sense to me. It all seems so vacuous and I wonder if I'm missing something.

As someone said above, she has a track record of leaving events when they are no longer of interest or benefit to her. She's already got to make a 'speech', do several outfit changes and get some 'philanthropic' footage to add to her NF show or Instagram. Mission accomplished, so why bother hanging around in freezing weather with nothing to do? I imagine she will take the Travalyst approved private jet back for the closing ceremony in yet another new outfit.

CathyorClaire · 12/02/2025 21:10

Scored some stonking coats too...

I’d be more likely to believe this if she didn’t wear thousands of pounds of gear and actually put on the branded clothing.

So she is not allowed to wear expensive clothing she pays for herself, unlike the Royals who wear expensive clothing paid for by the taxpayers. Got it.

Stickystickysticky · 12/02/2025 21:27

Apparently some of the IG pictures have disappeared from Meghans instagram account.

is she paying for it? And no reason not to wear the branded stuff is she’s there to support/promote the event.

Do the Royals always wear branded clothing at sports events? I do not remember Catherine, Camilla or Elizabeth ever doing so.
Of course Meghan and Harry pay for their own expensive clothes. Unlike the Royals.

Do you have proof that she is paying for her own clothes? Rather than them being expenses from Invictus? Same with the travel and hotels?

Oh come on! There are loads of comments criticising them for things other Royals get praised for.
Harry and Meghan holding hands!! How dare they!! PDAs are disgusting and inappropriate at work.
Sophie and Edward holding hands or Charles and Camilla, oh how sweet, they are obviously in love.
And on and on and on.

Do you are really have no short term memory at all?

Yep! Before it was "but why isn't she with her children?"

And now it's "how dare she leave midway!"

To be fair, when we hosted the Olympics Kate did wear a team GB top. But otherwise, no, they don’t wear branded to one country clothing, particularly when more than one part of the commonwealth is taking part and when the royals aren’t there purely as representatives of team GB.

I assume Meghan got quite well paid for the cooking show that got shelved due to fires, I can’t get excited about her spending some of that on fancy coats if she wants and yes, much more acceptable for her to be wearing expensive clothes bought with money earned.

Camilla and Elizabeth never wore branded sports clothing. But strangely people were not on here complaining about them wearing expensive clothing.

JADS · 12/02/2025 21:48

Even Princess Anne is at it!

Must have been absolutely bloody freezing.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 12/02/2025 21:50

@IAmATorturedPoet - to be fair, those photos are from an event just with the England team, when they are in the stands watching an event where there’s other countries in the commonwealth competing- Catherine usually is diplomatic enough to wear non-partisan clothing.

watching the Olympics in team GB tops stood out as unusual but understandable as we were hosting.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 12/02/2025 21:51

For those who think H&M should have worn the merch, for which country? Or should they dress in the volunteers uniforms?

would you not then be complaining they earn enough and could buy their own coats rather than take freebies?!
