With this new authentic Insta post where Meghan positions herself as a go between in securing some signed merchandise I think there's still plenty to discuss.
This is a new image. No make up. Carefully edited insta. New lips. Is this influencer territory? Mention of " my husband and l " Echoes of the Queen ?

My MIL reminds me so much of MM. She does raise a lot for charity and also organises donations of clothes etc for those in need BUT she not only does she tell us about it but she praises herself for doing it! She actually once made a post on Facebook about what a good person she was!! It must be some kind of personality disorder.

In fairness, we are very nosey on this thread.

This was one of the biggest cringe moments I have ever seen! In the large canon of Meghan and Harry cringes, I think it even surpasses the moment when they were shown to the cheap seats at the Bob Marley film showing, whilst wearing their red-carpet attire.

The rhino hide of the woman! Excruciating after the trip to the LA fires.

That being said, great entertainment value!

This is a nice gesture, but unfortunately I don't think that Meghan realises it's not 2017 anymore.

We have lived through Covid times and all the performative charity work that brought. The constant FB/insta/Tik Toks of people dropping food at hospitals, making care packs for nurses filled with MLM hand creams etc. We are all bloody cynical, the fucking pot doorstep banging pushed us over the edge.

I realise that Meghan and Harry's experience of Covid would be different to mine, but it does make me think that it completely passed them by.

I'm an American and my reaction to that video was that it was poorly made and inappropriate.

H&Ms personal christmas card including the kids has made an appearance, it was proudly displayed in Gloria Steinem home when it was photographed for Architectural digest.

Don't you absolutely cringe when you look at us dutifully going out our front doors (I went to the back, I didn't want to see everyone else!) to clap for the NHS? What was the actual point, really??

I work for the NHS and not once did I do it. In fact, I once arrived home from a god awful shift (I wasn't even on the covid wards, I was redeployed to maternity) at 8pm to my neighbours banging away. I walked through the door and burst into tears. It felt so hollow. What we needed was proper PPE, not rainbows and platitudes.

I don't really watch things about any of the royals and I'm not sure I've heard her voice many times but her post came up on my instagram. I think it's nice and it seemed genuine. But I don't hate her either so perhaps I'm missing something. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't blame you one bit. Even as I did it, I never felt comfortable with it - just didn't want to be 'that person' - but it felt meaningless and patronising. Like patting the NHS on the head benevolently and saying, "there there" without actually doing anything.

People are critical of her behaviour. She puts herself out there for public consumption - people will comment.

@JADS oh give it a rest. The whole royal family forum bitches about her all the time. You want to pretend it's some sort of forensic criticism that is justified and presumably makes those posting feel better about themselves but it's just nasty.

If the people on here don't hate her, I dread to think how they speak about people they do hate.

Really? I don't hate her. I said I thought it was a nice gesture, but we are all now a bit more cynical and hardened to this sort thing. It's all PR, isn't it? That's the whole point is to boost her image, that's why she is back on Insta.

Huge gulf between being kind and generous and seeking praise for being kind and generous.

For the record I don't hate Meghan - I just don't but people will have to take my word for that. What I do not like about her is much of what she has said and done , all in the public domain. Oprah , the M&H Netflix thing , whinging to Tom Bradbury (sp? ) in SA and more and sometimes released by her - like the latest Billy Eilish thing. Which in essence was a nice idea but putting it out on her channel / account - whatever it is before she had contacted the person involved and getting it delivered to her house so she (M) could show it off rather than getting it to the recipient first well , not so nice. I thought the video was cringey . But I can see the thought behind it - just a bit of anonymity and quietness and not being quite so front and centre would have been better - but I genuinely don't think she thinks like that.

If the argument is that it's all PR then that argument should be used consistently but it isn't.
