The baby is a girl and has been born prematurely weighing 4lbs. She is said to be healthy and doing well.

She is called Athena Elizabeth Rose.

Women do indeed have babies every day. This is the Royal Family board. A member of the Royal Family has had a baby. This is Royal News (and happy news might I add). So it is being discussed on the RF board 😊

Ive started to feel like royalty on here due to getting quoted so many times.

Love the name. I wonder what Athena gets shortened to.

It's quite difficult to shorten it. Maybe that's why she picked it. My mum had a lovely name but people always shortened, which she hated so she picked names for me and db which almost impossible to shorten.
I hope mum and baby are doing well. It must be a bit scary having such a tiny baby.

Hope she is doing OK. 4 lb 5oz is teeny. Lovely news.

(Wondering if I am the only person thinking Bea and Edo picked the name after watching Gladiators?)

@spacepies I bet you’ve got a huge fan base

Good news for her family, but what a silly photo
Why are the plebs only allowed to see half a face; is it to keep us pleased?
The arm lifted looks like an empty sleeve; why bother, either post a photo of your newborn, or don’t
Feel very annoyed, not sure why, I think it’s because I find the sisters and their pompous looking husbands very irritating. I loved the late Queen

I think it's a beautiful picture. She was only born last week, I think they can be afforded some more privacy.

PigeonDress · 29/01/2025 18:37

I think it's quite a witty picture to give to the press. Athena does not approve of unsolicited photos!

alseb · 29/01/2025 19:03

A Greek name - how lovely reflecting her grandfather’s heritage.

I also dislike photos of children where the face is artfully concealed. Her parents aren't working royals so there's no need for them to post a photo at all. They didn't with Sienna. It's not like one newborn looks very different to all the others anyway.

Thankyou. Either post a clear photo or don’t. Why post a generic baby picture? Very odd
I read that Grandfather no-sweat Andy gave his reaction to the birth: he was riding a horse, does he do anything else with all his free time?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/01/2025 19:24

I was full term at 4 pounds something

That's what 40 cigarettes a day will do

Thanks Mum Hmm

Hollytreenew · 29/01/2025 19:29

A lovely name, good news.
I was wondering if the photo was a deliberate one with what was said above about the press, but also as a support thing for Harry and Meghan. To show that they aren’t going to show them either. The York girls were/are quite close to him weren’t they?

Just a woman with a title know difference to me.

What does a woman with a title know?

upinaballoon · 29/01/2025 19:42

Sienna and Athena. Bit of Italy, bit of Greece.

How would i know what she knows.

If they have a boy next time I would suggest Leodis or Eboracum.just to level it up, you know.

Words · 29/01/2025 19:48

Joking aside, I think the names are fabulous.

veraswaistcoat · 29/01/2025 19:53

It's a lovely choice of names.

WinnieTheW0rm · 29/01/2025 20:00

I think there can be better choices of pic - or indeed choosing, as they did with Siena - no photo of the actual baby (it was footprints), than one with a sleeve flopping over the baby's face.

But immediately post-partum, and especially with all the extra stresses that come with the preemie, it must have seemed like a good idea - and perhaps she does flail her arms around, so maybe to them it's very characteristic already
