The baby is a girl and has been born prematurely weighing 4lbs. She is said to be healthy and doing well.

She is called Athena Elizabeth Rose.

DS was 9lbs 10 so she would feel like a little doll to me. Glad they are both doing well

2025willbemytime · 29/01/2025 14:05

She is a week old today. Yes, very tiny and like a doll. Must have been a shock for them all.

Oh gosh, how tiny,! What a beautiful name! I hope they are both doing well, thank goodness for the wonders of modern medicine!

Normallynumb · 29/01/2025 14:34

Lovely news and a lovely name
By her weight I'm guessing she was around 7 weeks early( same weight I was)
It's reassuring for all that she's at home

Nothingtosayhere · 29/01/2025 14:34

That is the most beautiful name . Such a tiny thing, hope they are both well.

She may not have been that early. DD4 was born at 36 weeks and was 4lbs 6oz.

She had reduced growth and I had constant scans for the last 5 weeks. It's not super common, but definitely not rare either.

Given their announced Christmas change of plans it may not have been a big surprise for them that she was early or small.

WinnieTheW0rm · 29/01/2025 14:38

Lovely name!

It's a week since she was born, so I hope they've not been having a too worrying time, and that everything is going well now.

Needmorelego · 29/01/2025 14:39

Oh that's teeny tiny 😍
Welcome to the world Athena.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 29/01/2025 14:42

BunnyLake · 29/01/2025 14:42

Oh tiny thing. I hope everything is ok with them both. Pretty name.

My eldest DD was born ten days late, weighing only just on 5lbs (and went home at less). They hadn't noticed lack of growth so we were very very lucky that she arrived when she did as she wouldn't have come home with us at all given a few more days.

I hope mum and baby continue to make good progress.

Beautiful name. I hope Beatrice and her new daughter are doing well and that she gets to bring her home soon.

IcedPurple · 29/01/2025 14:56

Beatrice was supposedly planning to go to Davos, which was just last week!

I wonder if that was just a rumour? If indeed she knew there was a high chiance of the baby arriving prematurely, she'd hardly want to take the risk of travelling.

Lostinidea · 29/01/2025 15:38

It's a lovely name and looking at the picture they posted she seems to be a red head too 😊.

paranoiaofpufflings · 29/01/2025 16:06

They used Elizabeth as the middle name for the older daughter too - they really want to keep that connection to the late Queen!

spacepies · 29/01/2025 16:12

Women have babies every day its not big news really.

Similar to me, I had ds at 37 weeks and he wigged 4lbs 7 oz.
