I don't think we're done talking - and I never start threads!

As you were!

Yes, it seems to be working.

He seems to be finding his feet, seems sincere enough about the things he wants to do with the rest of his life, seems to have a decent marriage, healthily children and so on.

Not the complete train wreak I would have anticipated.

Although he does have Trump and a dangerous administration now.

I see it completely the opposite, he’s like a fish out of water, floundering, I don’t doubt at all he loves his wife and children, that’s clear , but I really don’t think the Hollywood life is what makes him happy but he will, and is sucking it up for his family, as for what he wants to do for the rest of his life I don’t think he has any clear path at all, they are not rich enough to be philanthropists, are not naturally talented to earn millions from films or content, he’s only 40 so the rest of his life is a long time and from the VF article it sounds like he is a bit lost.

@JoyousGreyOrca I'll ask you again, was Harry only aware of the cost within the last couple of days?

Did he or did he not repeatedly say that he wanted it to go to trial?

I don't see that as a massive settlement

I think I read on another thread that Harry's legal team will have been required to give him regular updates about the potential costs of proceeding to the next stage, as well as the likelihood of success.

So he will have been aware. Whether he thought the rules applied to a Prince of the Realm is another question.

Delighted that he bloodied the nose of the Sun et al. It was obvious in 2011(was it?) that they were guilty but with friends in high places.

But did he really?

I honestly don't see that he (or any of the other complainants for that matter) have made that much of an impact.

The Sun will still be published. Its executives will continue as before. The Murdochs will continue to enjoy their wealth and power, and the world will still keep turning.

@IcedPurple That makes sense

NotaRealHousewife · 25/01/2025 23:37

@JoyousGreyOrca Did he think he qualified for legal aid? Or that Mr Coiffure was offering pro bono?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 25/01/2025 23:42

I think this sums it up well, I would imagine after all his chest puffing grandstanding he feels a bit deflated today when he reflects on events.

JoyousGreyOrca · 25/01/2025 23:43

Wow you expected Harry to take down NGN?? Wow. You obviously think he is far more powerful than I do

Mylovelygreendress · 25/01/2025 23:45

JoyousGreyOrca · 25/01/2025 23:25

You do understand that a massive settlement was offered at the last minute and if Harry turned that down he was liable for all legal costs even if he won?

And we do not know how much was offered. What if it was 50 million? Could he really turn that down? Especially given the public apology.

I thought it wasn’t about the money , it was about accountability?

NotaRealHousewife · 25/01/2025 23:47

I don't see where anyone said they expected Harry to take down NGN, I see people questioning why he went from I will take them to trial to accepting a settlement

You are prone to exaggeration

If he couldn’t turn down this offer, is he going to share it with the 1300 other people who couldn’t afford to go to court 🤔

No I don’t think anyone on here thinks Harry could take down NGN, not sure how you have drawn that conclusion, in fact most have been stating the exact opposite, even if he ‘won’ he’s lost as he has gained nothing in the grand scheme of things. Harry however probably thought that he was that powerful, he’s had his wings clipped now though.

Some posters are saying Harry lost because he did not take NGN down. So they obviously think he could have. I do not.

And now what?

He and Tom Watson said they will carry on campaigning to make the press fully accountable.

What, do you think there's some sort of 'conspiracy' going on 😂?

I can assure you that there is not. Just that very few people agree with your stance!

@JoyousGreyOrca
I agree with you. Many others do too

Yeah right.

They had their chance and they blew it. There's fuck all they can do now to expose NGN!

And most others don't??? There's very few of you from what I can see!

What do you think is happening - we're all connecting with each other privately and mounting some sort of 'campaign'?

I doubt you will hear from Tom Watson again, Harry might console himself by saying he will continue but he’s on a hiding to nothing.
