He will scrape up money by fair means or foul I'm sure

He usually does, @Extiainoiapeial, and as I've said in the past there are plenty of people out there who are even worse than him - some of them, unfortunately, in positions of considerable influence

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 12:26

Yes, I agree. But that doesn't excuse him.

All the more reason to have one, single, elected head of state, whose accounts are transparent, without any hangers on.

And where is this paragon going to come from then?

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 11:19

And there are so many hangers on, despite Charles's protestations of slimming down.
They all trade off their royal status.

I've asked this before and it never gets answered.

Who do you think needs to be "slimmed down"? When Charles said that, we had Prince Philip, The Queen, Harry and Andrew, then Meghan too. Some of the working members of the family are very old now.

The cousins cousins the hangers on the ones who the Queen used to effectively bankroll and get nothing from in return

JoyousGreyOrca · 09/02/2025 18:07

Yes the Royal Family are covering for Prince Andrew. He is still a counsellor of state. He still has his royal title.
Look at wikileaks, just type Prince Andrew into the search function to see minutes of a meeting that he attended whilst working as a UK trade envoy. It is gobsmacking, and that is the official minutes.
He lied about when he stopped being in contact with Epstein, and led about his contact with the Chinese spy.
There is a lot we do not know. And a lot more to come out. Some of it will. But very few papers cover it.

I've answered this before - more than once - I think the only ones who should be funded by the taxpayer and performing duties should be king and queen and heir and spouse.

Just my opinion of course.

I agree. I think we probably know about 1% of what he has been up to. There's a reason records have been sealed with his time as Trade Envoy. More will come out but bottom line, he is protected and the Royal Family will do everything in their power to keep it that way.

Most of the cousins have actually been working royals.

That would be very narrow. I wouldn't like to see Princess Anne for one stood down - it will never happen. She appears to intend to work until she drops like her mother did.

I think the Edinburghs do a lot of good work as well. The Queen's cousins are pretty elderly and their lives as working royals are numbered. I can't see the King axeing any of them after a lifetime in the roles.

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 19:23

I know it won't happen. I was expressing my opinion as to what would be an ideal scenario for me

Serenster · 09/02/2025 19:25

Yes, the only ones who weren’t working royals were Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. They were bankrolled to some extent - certainly housed at Kensington Palace while the Queen paid for their rent. Otherwise the rest of the Queen’s Kent and Gloucester cousins were full-time working royals.

There were no Windsor children and QEII’s Lascelles cousins (Princess Mary’s children) never worked and I don’t believe were ever bankrolled.

Wasn't the Duke of Gloucester an architect by trade which he gave up when his elder brother died?

I don't want to see any of them but I particularly don't want to see Bea or Euge, St Anne, Zara and Michael or Eddie and Sophie and their kids all of whom have been wheeled on in latter times on to fill the gaps left by scandal and flouncing.

Entirely agree but TPTB have made good and sure it won't come out until he and all of us are long gone 😡😡😡

JoyousGreyOrca · 09/02/2025 20:50

I agree that all the rest need to go.

Yes, he’d worked in an architecture firm In London for three years after graduating, but had to leave after his older brother Prince William was killed in a plane crash.

Serenster · 09/02/2025 21:13

Prince Michael of Kent also served in the Army for 20 years, he wasn’t just swanning around London while living in Kensington Palace.

Extiainoiapeial · 09/02/2025 21:22

Not swanning around London but rather busy in Russia what with his connections there

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57042823

Serenster · 09/02/2025 21:36

Yes. Absolutely loads and loads of dodgy connections in Russia.

He did not have to leave. They do have a choice

Extiainoiapeial · 11/02/2025 10:00

So he's working with a Russian ambassador classed as a 'threat to national security'
And an entrepreneur banned from entering a certain commonwealth country due to government concerns.

And we worry about Harry?!

Seriously, I wonder if Andrew is pushing it with his big bruv because he wants dosh and lots of it. And is saying in not so many words, I will keep doing stuff like this until you shell out.

I believe that's entirely likely, @Extiainoiapeial - though someone like Andrew would probably take his brother's money and continue his "work" with assorted scumbags

After all, though he's got so much already, what's to stop him?

I couldn’t agree more Extiainoiapeial

Endless posts on other threads because Meghan looks at Harry a bit funny 🙄 at a charity event, when the brother of the King, resident in Windsor, is still continuing his nefarious “business” activities in quite a blatant manner. Activities which could potentially cause security issues for the uk?

To be fair to King Charles, he is in a difficult position. Damned if he funds Andrew. And damned if he doesn’t; because Andrew continues to exploit his position.

But that is down to the way the RF operates. Imagine being in your forties, fifties and sixties and having your income determined by your sibling? And it’s easy for corruption to occur in closed institutions, without transparency of accounts, where people are put in potentially influential positions owing to their privilege and not their merit.
